- Hiko is the youngest tāne Māori competing in Torian Pro's elite men's division. Torian Pro is the best of the best of Crossfit athletes throughout Aotearoa and Australia. This year, his main focus was bembracing te ao Māori and utilising the aspect of whānau and mātaraunga Māori.
In this episode, Hiko shares how his whānau incorporates the Maramataka and comes together to celebrate Matariki. He discusses Hiwa i te Rangi, one of the nine stars of Matariki, associated with dreams and aspirations. Hiko delves into his journey as an athlete, kaihaka and his process for achieving his goals.

I love how my sons whanau, begun gathering for Matariki, last year with their elders and our mokopuna to hold wananga as a whanau hui to embrace their whakapapa in connection to te Ao Maori. Great whakaaro, where Te Ao Maori principles naturally align, as Maori to life's journey, to be at your best in all you do.
