That could because of low quality product. Try finding one which is original. Once the diode get's hot the intensity of light will reduce. There's nothing like expiry date...

Use an otg your Phone's battery will be a little bit faster drained but it's no problem using it make sure to tun on otg option in your settings before pluging it in because Phone will think some malicious is happening:)
