Can we imagine what the cellist experiences viscerally during a performance like this? As much or more than most instruments, I think the way a cello is played must convey strong resonances throughout the artist's body. It appears to lead the artist to express the music viscerally through this connection. And Vocalise is favorite of mine.
Beautiful performance. Your uncle had a rare musical integrity and wonderful sound, which appears to have rubbed off on you. I find all your videos excellent guides for aspiring cellists and you have taught me better than any personal teacher. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your generous words and message! My uncle would be so happy to read this! All he ever wanted was to be heard and share his love with others 🙌🏻
He is a great loss indeed. But I will make sure his music and talent will live forever! I will keep posting all his video and audio material that he left to us, and to share this all with you!
my heartfelt condolences to the family of this beautiful, amazing artist. i wonder where the location of the concert was. hard to believe there were empty seats… my admiration for his beautiful voice and wonderful expressions of who he is. please, rest in peace.
It’s heartbreaking indeed. Today was the funeral. I promised to keep up my uncle’s legacy and post everything he has on video and audio! One of a kind!
Ah lucky you! It’s such a beautiful and sad piece! Perform it with all you heart! Everything you have to say, transmit it through the notes so that you touch your listener’s soul 🙏🏻
Yes, it was such an honor to have an ‘older brother’ like him. Everything he did is an inspiration for me: playing, teaching, humor,…it’s unbelievable! I will post all his video recordings through my channel!
Thank you so much for your interest! We have lost a great musician and human being! I will put my uncle’s biography here: “Winner of numerous international competitions and finalist at the XIIth International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (2002), is a renowned cellist who combines playing of great depth with astounding virtuosity and mastery of his instrument. He appears in concerts and makes solo recordings for radio and television in USA, Canada, Japan, China, Russia and throughout Europe. He plays as a soloist with conductors such as Emmanuel Krivine, Rudolf Werthen, Dirk Brossé, Patrick Davin, Lev Markiz, Valery Poliansky and Bramwell Tovey. Among his chamber music partners are musicians such as Emmanuel Ax, Christian Ivaldi, Pascal Devoyon, Eliane Reyes, Plamena Mangova,Vladimir Sverdlov, Polina Leschenko, Peter Laul, Denis Goldfeld, Graf Mourja, Alexandra Soumm, Jack Liebeck and Sergei Nakariakov. He was a member of the Aviv Quartet from 2010 to 2015. As a soloist and in chamber music, Aleksandr Khramouchin performs in concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Bozar in Brussels, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, Rudolfinum in Prague, the Wigmore Hall in London and the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and the Victoria Hall in Geneva. His close partnership with “Timpani Records”, among other companies, has led to several recordings, including the complete chamber music of Gabriel Pierné with pianist Christian Ivaldi, the first recording of Jean Cras’ cello sonata with pianist Alain Jacquon and Maurice Ohana’s cello works with pianist Pascal Devoyon. All his recordings have received numerous awards and continue to be highly acclaimed in the international press. Alongside his performing activities, Aleksandr Khramouchin is permanently giving Masterclasses in the most important institutions and has occupied Professor position at the International Mundi School in Waterloo (Belgium) until 2021. Born 1979 in Minsk (Belarus) into a family with deep musical traditions, Aleksandr Khramouchin received his first cello lessons at the age of 4 from his father, a brilliant violinist, who also continued to guide Aleksandr in his understanding of musical language and in developing his own musical style during the following years. In 1985, he entered the class of Vladimir Perlin at the “Special Music School for advanced students” at the Conservatory of Music in Minsk. After coming to Belgium in 1992, he continued his studies with at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Encounters with Janos Starker, Boris Pergamenschikow, Dmitri Ferschtman, Natalia Schakhovskaya and others marked his musical apprenticeship. At the age of 19, he became First Solo Cellist at the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, where he played until 2019. Music critics are unanimous in praising Khramouchin’s unforgettable, highly individual performing style, the broad scope of his interpretations, and his faultless technical mastery.
I've just read your bio and also listened to your Bach and Myaskovsky. Wow! You're such a wonderful cellist! I sure will watch your videos as well. It's so heartbreaking and heartwarming that you uploaded this video in honor of your late cellist uncle. Thanks again for sharing this video. I noticed that you studied with Janos Starker. I went to his concert in Seoul, South Korea back in 1975 when I was a freshman cello student. That was almost 50 years ago. I always wondered how in the world Marin Alsop didn't get the Omaha Symphony's music director position some years ago. (I live in Omaha, NE, USA.)
Just no words… his music continues to inspire and touch hearts even after his passing 🙏🏻
