Everyday, there is a man named kanaka who is goat herder, pray the lord from outside with terrific devotion and one fine day, the temple authorities closed the path, where he use to see the lord. Out of devotion, he started doing song on lord and Krishna turned his position to give dharshan to him through the window, which is called kindi in kannada. that dwara is called kanakana kindi. it became practice that every other devotees must have dharshan of the lord through that. Thirdly, there are 8 mutts which can do Pooja to the lord, which was designated by Sri Madhwacharya. Every mutt can do Pooja to the lord every 2 months once and this was changed to 2 years by Sri Vaadhiraaja Teerthar, great saint of Udupi mutt, so that every mutt can do Pooja for longer period of time. so every mutt will do Pooja to the lord for 2 years, not 2 months.
