I like this section, it feels safe and I don’t mind stopping for the lights, even the bridge makes sense. Just a shame it end in muds and rubbish to the north and just disappears in the south. Imagine a cycle path to Crosby like this.
How wide is the path ? Can you cycle 2 next to each other on a lane ? In NL a lane (direction) has a minimum of 1.25m (narrow) and for a major route like here preferably 2.00m . (Lack of space is not a limitation here, there's plenty...) Also more flowing lines, rather than the angle at 0:45 would be nice.
@@Phil_Marshall_ agreed, although the positive thing is that once you will have built a similar bike lane on the other side of the street/s you can just make them both unidirectional (and therefore wide enough to overtake/ride 2 abreast : ) )
Should be replaced by a permanent cycle path much like the completed section, it will continue a bit further south too. Apparently work starts in 2022.
@@Phil_Marshall_ Looks like it's been delayed, due to them realising the junction plans for near to the old police station were just as deadly as the junction outside the Adelphi. Would be great if they could continue it up to the junction, while they figure out how to actually design a junction for other road users, rather than just for cars.
I used painted bike lane for almost 4 yrs,but for me is more dangerous I been hit by a car 2 times while I drove in bike lane thanks god I'm still alive .hope this 2lane opposite bike lane ,All painted bike lane continued to rebuilt
The high vertical kerbs at the edges of the cycle path? Yes they are too high and they should be angled back. It doesn't feel dangerous but it would be uncomfortable if very busy.
That's pretty nice, apart from the obvious faults like the large gap and the rough condition of parts of it and much of it being very isolated it's really nice. Though I do have to dock it points for some bits, for example why are some of the stop lines so far away from the intersection, that one intersection the stop line is more than a full car length away from the intersection. The other thing I would dock points for it is the pointless pedestrian crossing lights, bikes don't drive that fast and they aren't constant, you could just have the crossing and have the law be that cyclist have to yield for crossing pedestrians, there is no need for lights, it's just wasteful, the people that wouldn't stop for pedestrians are just going to ignore the light and those that will stop for pedestrians don't need the light.
At the moment it doesn't really connect to anywhere! I filmed this just after it had opened so I wasn't surprised it wasn't busy, it's still early days for cycling in Liverpool.
The large brick walls on the left when heading north were largely built with the help of captured French soldiers during the Napoleonic War, over 200 years ago. The docks would be behind them and the walls were built to prevent the general public from stealing from the warehouses and ships, and also to reduce smuggling and evasion of import/export taxes. There are other parts made with heavy stones with mini towers, giving the impression that they're castle walls.

New cycle path does not seem very popular with only one other user filmed in whole length. Hope to see more popular to justify the hard work of the council.
This was filmed just after opening, every time I go down there I see at least a few people cycling. It's not currently well connected so I think this is a good start:)

Wow that looks like an amazing cycle lane! Love the mini cycling signals too. Good to see its more protected from the busy roads.
This is really good! thanks for showcasing
Cycle route filming royalty! Glad you liked it:)
Looks Nice
Well, let’s say it’s a beginning.
Love it!!
Thank you!!

1.5m in each direction which is the UK minimum, plus deep vertical kerbs so it does feel narrower than it should. I agree it should have been wider.

Looks nice! Do you know what they're planning for the temporary painted section at the start?

That pavement is so wide yet pedestrians obliviously walk in the painted cycle lane...
Kojima finally made the first strand type cycle path
What's with the kerbs? This is good progress, but the design and implementation make the cycle path effectively quite narrow and dangerous.

The danger is with bike trailers especially baby trailers, the bollards are similarly not well thought out.
I share this concern it is very narrow if it gets crowed like those in london.
Looks great for the most part. Hopefully it will get used by more cyclists than it did the time you recorded !

Man but nearly no shade
Does look pretty good.
Do they have different phases for traffic lights for vehicle's turning accross the cycle lane.
How quaint. Nice to see they are making some progress . Progress similar to The Netherlands 30 years ago.
Well you have to start somewhere!
@@Phil_Marshall_ exactly, at least progress is being made, at a reasonable pace no less. Hopefully funding continues to increase.
what kind of area's does it connect? It does not seem very busy.

Algo.
Looks good maybe just more trees i hope philippines do this instead of putting bike lanes in existing road W/ cars and motorcycle
whence GB's penchant for brick walls?

All them wide pavements and not one pedestrian
I hope pedestrians use it to piss cyclists off for a change 😂
There putting cycle lanes everywhere, Southport is ruined with them , lucky to see anyone on a bike up there, anyone would think cyclists pay road tax
I wish they were building them everywhere! It would make getting around on a bike much safer and easier!
Yeah dude, it's cars that ruined cities. And if you build it they will come, hopefully even children there will feel safe cycling to school someday.
Anyone would think car drivers pay road tax.
You don't, it's EMISSIONS DUTY
