Taken from his excellent BBC road movie documentary 'Continental Drifters'.

I laughed so damn hard when I watched this on the BBC. He's amazingly astute when it comes to films.
Rich Hall is a genius. I'm proud to have him representing America on QI.

As soon as he deliberately left out George Lucas in the list of now legendary 70s directors who cut their teeth on American road movies, I knew this rant was coming.

@zionravescene Judging from the earliest part of the rant, he thinks that the original trilogy was genuinely good but he hates what it became and how everything else became a franchise driven mess, thus stifling creativity and screwing over writers who wanted to tell a particular story by having bed-tanned men in suits that cost more than some people's houses telling them that they can't see a market because there's no possibility of a sequel. I am not at all bitter and am coping perfectly fine.

@leaguesmanoframsgate I don't know what he thinks of it but it's difficult to call Star Wars a bad film given how immensely popular it is. He's just saying it was good for the sake of argument (not that I personally think it's bad or anything).

I'm gonna say that IS Tina Fey, even though I can't find a credit anywhere. She'd totally do something like that and back when this was filmed she wore glasses exactly like the ones worn by the waitress.

@leaguesmanoframsgate Given his attitude towards overly commercial entertainment (he does seem to hate Disney), his tastes seeming a bit more highbrow than simple good vs. evil fantasy stories and the fact he would have been an adult when Star Wars first came out, unless he's a secret sci-fi fan, it's probably safe to say he doesn't really rate Star Wars. But I could be wrong.
Or the Aliens franchise.

Don't get me wrong, but I have the slightest of suspicions that Rich Hall doesn't like Star Wars that much.
WHY must CLOWNS call anything Rich Hall says a "RANT" ?
He's a comedian. GET IT? He's doing it for HUMOR.
Everything Rich does is FUNNY. He could do absolutely nothing but stand there and look at you and you would/should still laugh just because he is a funny looking dude. But to call anything Rich says a "rant" is perhaps an indication that you might have a problem with Rich Hall's humor. Or you head is up your ass~!

He isn't JUST a comedian. And although he uses humour to MAKE his point, he is actually trying to make a serious point. This IS a rant. A very eloquent, intelligent - I would even go as to say a brilliant rant. But still a rant.
