Obviously money isn’t important for NASA and they are able to spend money on running 4 of the same systems, but not for the plane in the original example.

The solution about running in parallell that Felix is describing is actually how you combat bitflips, you run 4 systems in parallell with redundancy so that whenever an error is detected, you compare the 4. The chance of the exact same bitflip happening is so astronomically low that it's a fail-safe measure.
Which is also said a few minutes after X says it.
