yes, often the shopping center security guards will watch me when I do this, it can take 10 to 15 mins to pull the toys out. but the strangest look is form the bank teller when I go in and ask for $300 in $2 coins..LOL, they do ask what are you doing and when I tell them the truth that only sets up more questions Yep I'm strange...but proud of it.
as you would know in Japan there is a much expanded range of toys, and often Thomas is set up in a special theme or look, as a serious collector I can't see any value in a near identical 2012 Thomas, yet Percy is amazing...that sad face literally sinks you
closes at the end of the month...I only do short format giveaways now, the winner will be seen as an annotation at the end of the video.....lets hope people have annotations on, from what i can work out they are useless now
this giveaway is really aimed at people who already have some of this system, in the future I will do a giveaway aimed at those who do not have this TOMY train series...all I need to do is empty out two more vending machines
interesting, via the Thomas wikia web site it tells a story that Thomas Playrail is available in Japan, UK and Oz. Now I am hearing loads of people from the UK say they have never seen these, and just about everyone in the USA have not seen them...sad because it's a fantastic, yet very expensive small train toy
That's interesting how they sell characters with different facial expressions - I wish more Thomas lines did that. Although I've always wondered why Annie always gets a surprised face...
Wow an amazing collection! These are not even available in my city in the UK :/ They weren't sold for a long time before, although the engines had connecting rods too which seems to be missing on these models
The 2012 Thomas has a slightly different livery application if you look carefully (The red "L" shape on his sidetanks goes to the top instead of leaving a space)
Seeing as the majority of pieces in this plarail set consist of characters and locations from Day of the Diesels, the Percy in this set is sad because Thomas is ignoring him in favour of Belle and Flynn who have just arrived on the island.
"It's really easy to spend hundreds of dollars trying to chase a character that you're after" It's the exact same deal with Pokémon cards, you can spend hundreds of dollars on them trying to chase down an EX that your looking for.
Yes one has derpy eyes, and one has a different coupling on the rear but I class them the same because I know these styles of TOMY trains often have different paint / faces on them
In this video i had to blu-tac the whole track system down....but I did not reveal this in the video. In the first video I did about TOMY Playrail I certainly pin pointed the track system as a fail as it so easily uncouples. Either blu-tac or glue the whole track down is all I can think of to make it work
in this giveaway I am targeting those who already have some TOMY PLAYRAIL, I know it's very tricky stuff to find so hopefully someone who has a little will soon have allot..!
In Japan he is, there is a huge variety of characters in the Japan release of these toys, ,maybe series 5 will reveal all There was a series last year but I did not chase it as all it had was Splatter and Doge as new characters, it was all very similar to what I already had I just wish they would drop the turntables.....there are far too many in the break down from both 2010 and 2012, the track packs in 2012 have a extra piece of track which is nice
On my little turntable and table every square is 1cm ( 10mm ) use that to get a scale, in todays Thomas empire I class them as very small considering you rarely see HiT do small Thomas toys these days.
I don't remember exactly, but from what I recall, there's a version of the sheep mountain that has a miniature Boulder from 'Rusty and the Boulder' instead of a sheep. I think it was exclusive to Japan or something, though.
on the aspect of the best items getting put aside that may well happen, from what I am uncovering this sort of activity is very wide spread, finding the wanted characters in these toys is difficult and mighty expensive. but what can we do, as soon as something passes through the hands of a middle man there is always the temptation for that person to take advantage of a situation, in the end everyone wants to make a quick buck, it's a win win for those who have first access to stock
im at the point now where i just go in hard to find all the series, same with lego minifigures...these days i just buy a whole box of 60 for $300 the dieselworks is a really nice piece, but hard to find
I do try a little bit harder for the Thomas fans, they have been good to me so I will be good to them...but it's sad the dislike trolls are already pulling this video down....thats what it very different these days on youtube, I can remember a much nicer place only a few years back
I was just as surprised as Den's face looks when I saw his toy- no wind-up capability? Shame. On the plus side, Den looks great, all the little details are on there are great. I wonder why other toys like the Take-N-Plays don't give alternative faces to their engines that often (unless they are in special boxed-sets, still enjoying that very much, thank you).. Also, there are too many turntables, I agree. Needs more track. This is Thomas after all, not Chuggington!
this set is based on the Japanese Day Of The Diesels set.The set includes: 1.Thomas 2.Percy 3.Kevin 4.Diesel 10 5.Diesel(unpowered) 6. Belle 7.Flynn 8.Den(unpowered) 9.Dart(unpowered) 10.The Dieselworks shed(Diesel 10's shed) 11.Steamworks 12.Tanker 13.Livestock Wagon 14.Mountain Piece+sheep (This piece Is rumored that it is a repainted piece of boulder mountain in the Japanese Rusty and the boulder set) 15.Turntables(2 styles) 16.Trackpack comes with 3 Straight and 3 Curve
These wind-ups look cool. Who better to go to for recommendations than you, Leo! With the Holidays coming up, I'm needing to expand my Christmas list. Are these Playrails worth their money and a good idea to have in a collection? Thanks Leo, you rock at these awesome reviews!! :D
hi steve. my name is coby and i love your videos on thomas and have a great collection my self. i want to make some videos my self but im only 5 years old, butmy dad will help me soon. please keep up the good work. thank you Coby
I'm pretty sure they never HiT $4 where I live, if they did imagine how expensive that makes this toy...at $4 it's a total rip off considering the way the vending machines are stacked
Hi Leo!I Have To Find Them In All Shops And Collect all Of Them. I'm Pleased That There Is Diesel,Den,Stanley,Belle,Hector,And The Dieselworks Building In This Series!! Note:The Faces Are Diffrent. So I Will Be Confused There Faces On Diesel,Den,And Percy's Face's. 2010 Percy Had A Classic Face Because The 2010 Did A Well Job On James,Henry And All Items. So Have A Good Christimas! :)
yes, it would be really nice with a gandy dancer up inside as a comedy toy train, but the problem is for me the one I would do is Thomas and he's too hard to find
Hector - Heavily Engineered Coal Truck On Rails; his prior name was, "Hopper". He is a U.S. railroad coalcar without front and rear supports, ladders, hand-operated brakes, and other nice things.
the worse I have had so far is a 8 month fight to get control back on a video, it related to Christmas lights and it used royalty free music, i'm at the point now where it's too much trouble to use music in a video because the content ID tool picks up far too much royalty free stuff
Hi there I've never spotted these in vending machines, though I did recall seeing small wind up toys that look better quality and even having coupling rods on the sides. I was thinking when I spotted them whether or not to buy you a Thomas one back then. Now I can't even spot the wind up sets anymore. Oh wells, at least you finally got Thomas. For some reason, Hector's face looks like E.T for some reason o-o; Euan
also notice the coupling is different, but I was looking to a totally different face or theme, these TOMY trains often have very special differences between series, this 2012 Thomas is sadly the same as 2010, the Percy is the winner here
Nice Review Leo, I remember when these used to be sold normally in shops in the UK. I still got a Percy, but the face is different. My one just smiles without showing his teeth.
Fair point! I agree that Percy is a really nice re-make. I do like that they used a classic Diesel face as appose to a CGI era one as well. Such a shame that him and Den weren't fitted with motors. I guess the Chinese factory must be in a recession!
I only managed to collect 7 of them as they are quite rare in the united states which is disappointing, but on strange thing is that mine have the axle rods and yours don't, another issue is that if I do find one on let's say an online shop they cost around $5 a piece. I hope that I am able to expand because it really is a nice series and this would be an amazing gift for I actually have an enormous Thomas collection. :)
Hello. So here goes a long shot. My son and I are in Japan and we were able to get all of the 2015 series and we find ourselves with some doubles. He was wondering if you would be interested in trading since you seem to have a handful of the older series left. Please let us know and thanks for the informative video. Vincent loves it.
nice find and collection. tomy isnt sold and or licensed to do so in the us . lionel play rail is , but both are compatable . we can get them on the internet . keep up the hunt :)
No problem! :D I also just want to mend that little clash between us we I misunderstood what you said on my mega freight car review. :) I really do enjoy all your videos!!!
I hope after all this time that you have managed to find some capsule playrail Thomas’s that have the side rods. The ones that have the side rods look so much better.
Seeing the two Thomas' and seeing that they are the same is actually an advantage in my opinion, pretending that kind lady had not been there to give you that Thomas, along comes another set and thus another chance to get a Thomas. And being such a central character, and especially if he is that rare, I feel that is a smart move to make. I would certainly love to get Den, are the logos stickers too? I certainly would like those to put on my OO model of Den, great video as always leo =)

But hector really stands for heavily engineered coal truck on rails ;)
troublesome junction OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT
I never noticed that! That's cool!
After I watched a whole bunch of your videos Troublesome junction and see this comment what a coincident
No it stands for hello everyone can trucks operate remotely

Now I am hearing loads of people from the UK say they have never seen these, and just about everyone in the USA have not seen them...sad because it's a fantastic, yet very expensive small train toy
I have seen the UK versions a where I live, some places if not most haven't got these wonderful thomas trains, if only they made more in your area
Have a great Christmas
I wish these came out in America :(
troublesome junction I'm
ImxXAnonymousXx Mattel wouldn't like that and normal plarail is only available in Japan and maybe china
Me too
@@merlinandmurdoch7837 and Singapore
yes, I have already let one late entry enter even though the prize has been awarded
I have a Tomy Wind-up Duncan from a friend of mine and now I have a windup Thomas from you. ^_^
This 5, 9th. I have
That's interesting how they sell characters with different facial expressions - I wish more Thomas lines did that. Although I've always wondered why Annie always gets a surprised face...
thanks, i'm pleased you enjoyed the video, it's a fantastic little Thomas series so it's easy to make it shine
Dang. Stanley is probably the only engine I really want. I hope to find one cheap or something
4
Thomas
You could say you could WELCOME STANLEY into your collection
SodorRailway3DFilms I have Stanley but without windup
nice, yes this series has metallic's as well, but I have a feeling all thats only available in Japan
Those look surprisingly good for what they are!
Look, it's his video, so he does what he wants. Whether people like it or not, it's here to stay for as long as he pleases.
4:53 Hector stands for Heavily Engineered Coal Transport On Rails
Ive been wondering that for years. Thank you
Without this video I would have never known these existed.
thanks for the nice comment, sadly these little Thomas trains are difficult to find in the USA, seems most people bring them in from overseas
Yep, there are 100.000.000 American Thomas fans all wanting these tiny Thomas toys..!
thanks, hope your Christmas is a good one as well
Wow an amazing collection! These are not even available in my city in the UK :/ They weren't sold for a long time before, although the engines had connecting rods too which seems to be missing on these models
same
The 2012 Thomas has a slightly different livery application if you look carefully (The red "L" shape on his sidetanks goes to the top instead of leaving a space)
well done, nice everyone knows this and the use of CAPITALS on every word is nice....bit of a trend going on..!
Seeing as the majority of pieces in this plarail set consist of characters and locations from Day of the Diesels, the Percy in this set is sad because Thomas is ignoring him in favour of Belle and Flynn who have just arrived on the island.
"It's really easy to spend hundreds of dollars trying to chase a character that you're after"
It's the exact same deal with Pokémon cards, you can spend hundreds of dollars on them trying to chase down an EX that your looking for.
I remember these from ages ago. They only had a short ammount in shops but I got Thomas Edward Bill Ben Lady Desiel 10 James Percy and Duck
Yes one has derpy eyes, and one has a different coupling on the rear but I class them the same because I know these styles of TOMY trains often have different paint / faces on them
why not ?, he's a fairly interesting character and sort of works well with the coal loader piece
In this video i had to blu-tac the whole track system down....but I did not reveal this in the video. In the first video I did about TOMY Playrail I certainly pin pointed the track system as a fail as it so easily uncouples.
Either blu-tac or glue the whole track down is all I can think of to make it work

My 7 year old was very entertained by this video. I haven't seen this version of Thomas in the U.S.
This would make a great miniature Christmas village.
I think it was exclusive to Japan or something, though.
maybe because she can see Thomas, that makes her excited
Your channel has brought so many good childhood memories of 2007-2020 I love this channel
on the aspect of the best items getting put aside that may well happen, from what I am uncovering this sort of activity is very wide spread, finding the wanted characters in these toys is difficult and mighty expensive.

the dieselworks is a really nice piece, but hard to find
My son loves the "FAIL" part of the video. He always asks me to see 'I want to see Toys Thomas". We both enjoy your videos immensely.
I do try a little bit harder for the Thomas fans, they have been good to me so I will be good to them...but it's sad the dislike trolls are already pulling this video down....thats what it very different these days on youtube, I can remember a much nicer place only a few years back

Also, there are too many turntables, I agree. Needs more track.
This is Thomas after all, not Chuggington!
if your from the USA these styles of trains are HOT property
I can't class derpy eyes as a difference, just about every Thomas or whoever has derpy painted eyes
When you talked about how you didn't need that many turntables think about how they weren't stocked for one person to empty it all
yes, they are quite a charming series of trains but the track system is a let down, that was covered back in the review of 2010
wow i liked that video because it was funny and i like tomas the train too. some time i like watching the show.
this set is based on the Japanese Day Of The Diesels set.The set includes:
1.Thomas

interesting thought...you may be correct and it's sad Diesel 10 is not in this series...he's the obvious one missing
Dump Stanley and throw in D10

Hector stands for Heavy Engineered Coal Transporter On Rails, just so you know. :P

Sorry I don't have any
You can get this on Ebay

nice info indeed
I have duncan, skarloey, diesel ten, thomas and percy but I haven't got any track and I think the coal hopper and mountain pieces are really cool.
Hi there
I've never spotted these in vending machines, though I did recall seeing small wind up toys that look better quality and even having coupling rods on the sides. I was thinking when I spotted them whether or not to buy you a Thomas one back then. Now I can't even spot the wind up sets anymore. Oh wells, at least you finally got Thomas.

Today is the day I choose a winner of the GIVEAWAY, hmmmm, who's been naughty and who's been nice..??
Maybe I should do a second giveaway for those who can't find these tiny toys..!
also notice the coupling is different, but I was looking to a totally different face or theme, these TOMY trains often have very special differences between series, this 2012 Thomas is sadly the same as 2010, the Percy is the winner here
Nice Review Leo,

we would all love a Diesel 10
They did make diesel 10 and his claw could open up, and move up and down, and he was sold in thr Japanese wind ups and the blister pack wind ups
I only managed to collect 7 of them as they are quite rare in the united states which is disappointing, but on strange thing is that mine have the axle rods and yours don't, another issue is that if I do find one on let's say an online shop they cost around $5 a piece. We. kmI willing
i quite enjoy the fail reel voice, ps the the 2006 thomas i own looks the best
I can't class derpy eyes as a difference, and the rear coupling is different ..JIMMY
I like the 2012 Thomas and the track and the henery and the sheep hills
nice find and collection. tomy isnt sold and or licensed to do so in the us . lionel play rail is , but both are compatable . we can get them on the internet . keep up the hunt :)
annie is suprized about how epic your channel is and percy is sad about jazwares crappy toys
Hector stands for Heavily (H) Engineered (E) Coal (C) Truck (T) On (O) Rails (R)
It says 'Heavily Engineered Coal Truck On Rails' on the TTTE wiki.
did the CGI HECTOR look as good as the real model one..??
Cool, I was looking for a smaller Thomas that I will use in a later video. I don't know if these are in my area, have to go look. Wish me luck.
The Name Hector Stands for "Heavily Engineered Coal Truck On Rails".
No problem! :D I also just want to mend that little clash between us we I misunderstood what you said on my mega freight car review. :) I really do enjoy all your videos!!!
I hope after all this time that you have managed to find some capsule playrail Thomas’s that have the side rods. The ones that have the side rods look so much better.
My fav is Thomas because he has murder eyes!
And I don't have any play rail
Seeing the two Thomas' and seeing that they are the same is actually an advantage in my opinion, pretending that kind lady had not been there to give you that Thomas, along comes another set and thus another chance to get a Thomas. And being such a central character, and especially if he is that rare, I feel that is a smart move to make.
I would certainly love to get Den, are the logos stickers too? I certainly would like those to put on my OO model of Den, great video as always leo =)
Who knows, Annie's just always looked like that.
Glad to see Diesel still has a evil face in some series's
Because EVERYBODY can use 20 turntables!
It's a bit interesting to note only non-motorised characters have front couplings...
I saw one of these, I think a track pack, in one of those machines with mis-matched parts from all diffrent companies.
Percy dosen't seem to like to stay on the rails, perhaps that's what he's so sad about.
the thing with den is that he is supposed to be used with a motorized bit of cargo, letting it push him around
hector stands for helping,engineer,coal,truck,on,rails.
