love the video, Jay. I'm a very proud owner of the Gershman's Grand Avant Garde. I can listen and enjoy all my music, even the "bad recordings," without compromises, just as you mentioned in your video. I owned and auditioned many high-end pairs of speakers before purchasing the Grand measured Avant-Garde, so I have been comparing speakers as you just did in this video for many years. I just have a few comments that your viewers should consider: When referring to fast bass, it is imperative to compare speakers that can reach the same low frequencies,. In this case, the Grand Avant-Garde reaches 21Hz (I measured it), the rest of the speakers you mentioned, and most speakers and subwoofers do not go as low. 21Hz means 21cycles per second; obviously, it would not be as fast as 40 or 50cycle per second therefore you can not compare the speed of 21 Hz to the speed of 40Hz. you shouldn't confuse the two. I would like to stress out that sometimes people confuse speakers with less bass extension and volume, as having control and speed in the bass region, this is false.
Based on your enthusiastic reviews I ran to my local dealer where I spent an hour listening to the TTT's powered by 17K McIntosh gear. Imaging and soundstage are ridiculously good as they magically disappear into a wall of sound. Vocals, strings, acoustic instruments all very nice, however turn up the volume to rock out a bit and the bass sounds like a small speaker, albeit very good one that I could enjoy in a secondary living room system. By comparison the Totem Forests are the superior all rounders. I've listened to the Gershmans on several occasions and find them vastly superior to either. The laws of physics and return on investment both remain intact. Cheers!
Great video Jay, It seems that you need to familiarize yourself again with the Gershman Grand Avant Garde. It has been 9 months since you reviewed them according to UA-cam, (it's difficult to remember all the details and compare without having the three products, side by side. ; the Gershmans baffle (5")which is narrower than the Totems and Alec. Gershman also went further than both companies and treated the baffle with felt in order to achieve the perfect imaging.
Appreciate it Jay. I think the longer we are in this game the better our ears become . And we have to hear different products to gain experience and to learn what we like as individuals. Peace .
Hi I've been watching your channel for about a year I live in the UK and love your in depth reviews which are very well presented. In relation to your comments in this video I do agree that it seems like every time you have a new pair of speakers in you claim there better than the last. What hifi magazine in the UK do not date these totems as a 5 star product so stressing how much a matter of taste is definitely right in what your doing. I guess the advantage a magazine has is they can rate all aspects of a product in a format such as build, sound quality, compatibility etc. At the moment people looking to buy new products will do so based on reviews which on your channel has become more confusing over time. Just an observation not trying to be negative keep up the good work!
WOW! Your ears must be Vulcan! How you can tell the difference between woofers, mids, and highs in different speakers just amazes me!! I wish I had your hearing!
I like when people compare speakers and amps. I heard the totem tribe at audio fest and they had them playing loud and I could hear them distorting ding from being pushed.
What do you recommend? I was considering the Totem Element Metal V2. But now I have seen some rave reviews about the Magico A3 and may consider the a5 with more bass drivers. I’m trying to stay under 20k.
Hi Jay. I’ve been loving my KLH Model 5’s and think they deserve much more credit than they get. I have them paired with Pass Labs and Denafrips gear and the detail, bass and soundstaging are impressive! I bought some Dynaudio Heritage Specials as an upgrade attempt but still prefer the KLH. Do you think the Tribes would better the KLH? I loved my old Totem Forests…
I appreciate your reviews and your channel seriously been watching you since the pandemic started. I appreciate the in depth you go into and accuracy of what and how a speaker should be reviewed.
I wanted to bring up the point that I think most come across when choosing the perfect pair of speakers. Listening to the music we like: When it comes to speakers that are considered to be revealing or exciting, we are put in a position that we can not listen to most of the music we have or enjoy as the recording is considered to be " BAD RECORDING". But the problem is that it's not the recordings, it's the "Reaviling speakers" preventing us from enjoying our music, restricting us to listening only to Audiophile music because they are too bright. It's much better to have forgiving speakers and listen to any recording.
You doing an excellent job and I appreciate your content. You explain your thoughts and also you always tell everyone that these products are not for everyone. Thank You Sr.
Had the Totem Arro, now the Kin Mini + sub. Want to buy something better, and I am thinking LS50 META + my Totem Sub. But haven't heard them... I don't really care about the price, and you reviewed both. Is the Totem much, much better? The reason I traded the Arro for the Kin? 6db/Oct filtering. I never liked 12dB filters: sound stage moves forward and backwards, as always is the case with 3-way speakers. Can you give your opinion?
I don’t know which one to choose still. I’m debating between Totem Element Metal v2, Alta Alec, or Gershman Grand Avant Garde. Honestly never considered any of these speakers until I came across your positive reviews. Heck, never heard of Alta and Gershman until I saw your review. Keep up the excellent job! Curious if you have any experience with the Totem Element Metal V2 speakers and what your thoughts are on those? Thank you!
I went with the Gershman - I love them, as it has everything I was looking for and more. I listen to any kind of music at any volume and it sounds incredible, without missing any detail or killing my ears. That's all I can tell you, but it depends on what you are looking for.

it doesn't exactly work that way. I would encourage you to have a listen to these speakers for yourself. gear room and taste play a huge factor. one of the reasons I pushed for a comparison is because I have heard thes speakers and wanted to see our differences of perception/opinion
I wish reviewer would cut the crap, sometimes a speaker can be better. I had a set of highly regarded, extremely well reviewed set of speakers I tried with various amps in multiple setups and had good performance but they didn't out perform my Monitor Audio's at less than half the price. I got set of Golden Ears afterwards that were still almost half the price and they absolutely mop the floor of the more expensive speakers. I know Golden Ear and Monitor Audio are generally considered good value, but some of these so called elite brands are overpriced significantly. My MAs were 1800, Golden Ear 3500, Elite brand 5900. Try before you buy.
The Totem Tribe Tower is the only speaker I would even dream of if there were 1000 bad reviews out there. Cause I know what they make me feel like 🤩🔥🤤💥⚡️
We can get conditioned into ways of thinking ...like I never dreamed I'd ever want or ever like or even bother trying any speaker with just 2 of 4" inch mid/base drivers on each, after owning speakers with 10, 12 & 15 inch drivers, but from what you've said previously & now, it seems like I'd pick the Totems if given the choice over many others. And they aren't heavy!!! I'm shocked by that (& left wondering if they use 1 or 2 thinned box panel's resonance as part of their designer's wanted sound, as very few designs have done before, (the placing of internal bracing or lack of would give a clue) but all above is just arbitrary interest only because that would Not stop me buying them if they sound as good to me as they do to yourself. And good bass without the standard crossover trickery to subdue the range above the bass that wzys makes those speakers much less sensitive & needing far more power. They certainly do (as you've said b4) seem to defy physics in at least 2 or 3 different ways.

Once again chat, move that playback slider over to 1.25 or 1.5! Enjoy n' thank me later. Great video comparison, btw!
***** stars, dont stop.
The Totem Tribe Tower is the only speaker I would even dream of if there were 1000 bad reviews out there. Cause I know what they make me feel like 🤩🔥🤤💥⚡️
Don't kill birds
I owned Totem Hawks paired with Plinius 9200. Nice for jazz classical but would not rock... got frustrated and got rid of both...
This video had to be made! Lol
Dude, defensive Jay is not fun to watch. Stop caring what people think. It's only UA-cam and nobody really cares.
"There's always a better Asian than you" never heard.
Avant gardes r 13k usd vs totems 5k. Wouldnt a decision then be a no brainer?
Avant-gardes sound way better no comparison
Better Asian??? BAD comment bro!!
calm down... it's a meme ...
@@Jayiyagi I'm not upset - just thought it was a bad comment. Maybe I'm missing something - I am 70 so some things go over my head! LOL!!
@@Jayiyagi I don't even know what a "meme" is! Told you I was old!! LOL!!
