i actually like learning this. kinda sucks no one really teach me any native language and i'm almost 30 till next month. by far here on youtube you explain it very well and i like that. it gets me wanting to learn more cause your pronunciation is easy to learn and how to say it. i'm looking forward to learning more here.

I would like to add you as a contact as I, too, am interested in learning the Choctaw language. My great-grandmother was Choctaw; I have always been interested in learning more of the indigenous peoples, although not too much on the internet on Choctaw in the past. Thank you so much for taking the time to make the videos. It is important to learn of one's ancestors.

Just found your video. Hearing these words again remind me of when I was 8 yrs old hearing from my neighbor who was full blood Choctaw

Thank you for posting your lesson online. I’m attempting to learn Choctaw by finding posts like yours and reviewing them again. I also have a book that wa recommended by an online course by the Choctaw nation. My friend and I have attempted to register for a course but so far have received no response Sex to our email messages, the only Avenue of communication offered on that site. Anyway, your presentation will improve as you make theses videos. Don’t give up; they’re very helpful

Awe. At the end she said that if these were bad she wouldn't make them anymore. They are great & you are awesome! I know this was from 2012 but I hope you read this. How much chocktaw did you learn and where did you take chocktaw culture classes. Me grandfather was 100% chocktaw and I hardly know much yet I know a little. I really enjoyed this. All the best!

I attended SOSU and had no idea Choctaw was even an offered course. My son is a great kid (well man I guess but to me he will always be my kiddo) and I want him to embrace that half of his heritage. He seems ashamed of it somehow I think. Don't know how to explain it here so won't try. I encourage him constantly and think if I could learn a little of the language maybe it will SHOW that I support this rather than just badger him about it. Like Conway Twitty said "That's My Job". Thank you so much for posting. I will do my best to learn and pass it on. Greetings from Durant, OK.

jdh023 It hasn't been offered as a minor for very long. I hope he takes one of the classes because both of the people teaching the classes are amazing.

Ah, I understand. Yes, I'll try to keep that in mind. I hadn't thought of that, so thank you for asking! Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you SO much for watching and letting me know what you think! I filmed another video (will edit and upload as I find time) and I put the pronunciation you asked for in it. So, you should be able to hear it fairly soon :)

Could you share the word lists maybe? This is awesome! I was adopted as a baby so I have a lot of catching up to do with my Choctaw heritage. Thank you so much!!

Yes, that is the idea. I have been swamped with school of late. I have a Choctaw dictionary now and should have time over the summer semester to make more videos and get caught up. Right now, I'm in Choctaw 3, so there's a lot I can still go over. I just have to find the time. After finals next week, I hope to start in making more videos. Sorry I'm such a screw up.

You teach really well!! Loved your video. We are needing to name our home. Like abina < does that mean camp, outdoor shelter? In Choctaw. Camp Bailey? How to speak it & maybe symbol for camp? Thanks :-)

Your video's GREAT! I am following the same teaching online at choctawschool com. I do not get to hear explanations of words like you give so this is awesome! I know you are pushed for time on here but if there is time left, can you repeat the Choctaw word? Maybe say it at a normal speed then again but slower. I thank you so much for doing this! I'm in Texas so there is no place around here to take classes and if there were it would be too expensive.

Go right ahead! I'm working on gathering my motivation for editing... filming these is easy, but the editing and uploading is the part that can be somewhat tedious.
