Polarized is for people who don't want to have eye problems down the line. Due to pupils getting larger when wearing shaded sunglasses, if the lens is not polarized it let's the enlarged eye/pupil absorb UVA and UVB sun radiation which can cause serious harm in time.
100 % real the fakes usually come wrapped in plastic bag bought my wayfarers from rayban and they came exactly like these with a polarized sticker on the right lens

I brought one in 2009 from love field air port with my first paycheck, they are rock solid. I still wear them every day. 👍 The memories are worth it.
