- Today I am trying The Impossible burger which is a plant based "burger". I wanted to try these simply with salt and pepper, no bun or toppings. Here are the ingredients:
water, soy protein concentrate, coconut oil, sunflower oil, natural flavors, 2% or less potato protein, methylcellulose, yeast extract, cultured dextrose, food starch modified, soy leghemoglobin, salt, mixed tocopherols (antioxident), soy protein isolate.
Vitamins and minerals:
Zinc gluconate, B1, niacin, B6, B2, B12
240 calories per burger
I get a lot of people asking where they can get certain things that I use in my videos, so I created a Tom's Test Kitchen store on Amazon. You will find everything I could think of that I've used in one way or another in previous videos. Please take a look around, I hope you find what you're looking for, if not just ask. Thanks! www.amazon.com...

I happened to have these Impossible Burgers on hand, so after seeing your video in the morning, I made them for dinner that night. Your review is spot-on! I prepared them as though it was a hamburger, ketchup & all. Delicious! I also sauteed onions when the burgers were being cooked. Thank you so much!
They’re so good. I’m meatless and make my chili and spaghetti with these patties. I just melt in oven as if I’m making burgers but take them out when there pink and add to skillet to ground up. Ik they have it already in a pack to ground. I’ve tried those and I happen to like these better. For my spaghetti I actually add some vegan sausage on the pan as well and ground it with the imposs Pattie’s. My family kill it every time and they’re meat eaters.
Tom, how about the idea of substituting one night a week that normally would have had meat for an impossible burger night? We have designated a few days a week to veggie only and it has made a real difference. We still eat meat but we are trying to lower our carbon footprint possibly and while were at it eat a little healthier. You can feel the difference within a week. Worth a try. Thanks for the video, I agree 100% with you about the taste and texture. Its really good. Next time try it loaded up like you normally would :)
I had the Impossible Whopper and you can not taste the difference. Costs twice as much though. Rock On Tom!
Yeah Sal, if this were grilled and served up with all the fixings you couldn't tell the difference.
It's not subsidized by the government. You are paying for meat through your taxes.
Wow - you even included the specifics of the "mouth-feel" - great video! Thank you for sharing.
I bought a few packs of these at my Trader Joe’s to try and make some burgers to see how the meat would taste ! Still excited to prepare mine today , thank you !!
I used these as a ground beef substitute for my home made chili today. No one noticed it was vegetarian chili
I think I'll try some of those after watching your video Tom. I'm going to try grilling them on a gasser.
Looks like they have come a long way from the veggie burgers that we served at burger king back in the early 2000's. I was never brave enough to try those. But I've got a 12oz pack of impossible burger that I'm going to use for spaghetti. You answered my question, rather or not it shrinks. Thank you. Nice to get the answer I seek first video out the gate. :) Doesn't happen often.
I like to add hickory flavor to my burgers, which makes it taste like it's been cooked over an open flame.
Love your content and that shirt!
Good review Tom.
Been wondering about these 'burgers' for a while.
I do not know anyone who has tried this, and I still think it's not for me.
Thanks Joe, they are pretty good but they won't be replacing a real burger in my house.
Thanks Tom! Happy Saturday! Been vegetarian forever but I 've never been brave enough to eat these fake meat products. Appreciate the demo.
Add a grilled onion & A 1 steak sauce. 🔥
You can’t tell the difference at all. I’m going to make it for my carnivore sister and her family. I never add salt I use complete seasoning.
You overcooked it! Give it less cooking time (over high heat) and it won't be as dry and will be more visually appealing. Cheers!
Yeah, I just wanted to make sure it was cooked through. I will cook it more medium next time.
@@tomstestkitchen I wonder what the 'red' is that one would be trying to cook through
@@bicylindrico In home made veggie burgers its usually beets.
@@bicylindrico
Beet juice. It is used to give it that pinkish color of fresh ground beef.
@@bicylindrico in this case its "heme" {plant blood) ...not beets
how long should u Cook these
You should substitute regular hamburger for this. Like, no question about it!
I know, I just wanted to try these. Would not buy on a regular basis
You can get 6 at Walmart for $11
Curious as to why you wouldn’t substitute it for a regular burger if it’s virtually the same??
Environmental/ethical reasons ?
Snowflake Syndrome…..😂😂😂
These frigging things stick to every cooking surface I've used. Nightmare. They taste good but they're too fragile
Just tried it and…it’s a ‘no’ for me
Who is dumber?… The people that make this junk…. Or the people that buy it?…😂😂😂
C'est pas un burger arrêtes de dire que c'est un burger puisque c'est un steak végétal
The name fits perfectly… these things are so disgusting they are IMPOSSIBLE to eat
Give me real meat, not Lab meat
