With the ability to carry 100 tons that fit within 1,100 cubic metres for essentially the cost of fuel alone, SpaceX’s Starship programme may change how businesses operate in space. Many of the most-hyped venture-backed space companies of the last couple of years are designed for a pre-Starship world. Will these be rendered obsolete once Starship is operational? How will the ongoing distribution of capital shift if Starship changes launch constraints and removes the barriers to entry and experimentation for new ideas?
