I saw a bio of Miles Davis on PBS. I heard music in that bio that chilled me to the bone. I never realized what was in him. I was moved. Truly a cat on his own planet.
No bullshit, just good music. Language of all. Peace and love.
7 years ago this evening, this track played in the delivery room as my son was taking his first breath. I will listen to In A Silent Way every October 4th for the rest of my life.
As I will do too! Cheers brotha from Cincinnati
Every other jazz muscian wants to be like Miles, Herbie & JoeZ. Genius is as genius does.
Con Mi.D@vis y tantos buenos musicos de la época, conocí el jazz,.,
You have a cool wife. She's a keeper.
oh hey, funny coincidence im seeing this comment today - happy birthday to your son!
Those first five seconds, just... ooh. Makes me feel warm and toasty.
This entire piece makes me warm & fuzzy
I was lucky enough to catch him in person in the early 70's at Shellys Manhole in LA,just before Fusion Jazz exploded in popularity..
You can hear the Weather Report coming through... 🎵🎷🎹🎶
Miles the absolute Master.
i was born to this song god bless and have a great weekend people!
Tony Williams is a cymbals improvisatory master on this record (one of the best drummers)--combine him with Dave Holland on bass, John McLaughlin on guitar, Chick Corea/Herbie Hancock/Joe Zawinul on electric piano/Fender Rhodes/organ, Wayne Shorter on saxophone, and Miles Davis on trumpet = my favorite jazz album of the 1960s and my second favorite jazz album of all time (after Alice Coltrane's Journey in Satchidananda).
Out of this world, pure art.
This song is etched in my mind, don’t need to hear it because I can put it on any time. Wayne Shorter is actually speaking here in his solo.
Nothing can achieve this level
Outstanding, this album is the foundation for Fusion. You notice Dave Holland replaces Ron Carter. It's said that Carter refused to play the electric bass, Miles had an audio vision hearing the possibilities of the electric bass, where the upright bass couldn't match those parameters of the Fender Bass.
Miles Davis = Musical genius
As you rest in Heaven 🙏🏽
Miles Dewey Davis 3rd
You're musical legacy lives on to #INFINITY
This for me was his last true jazz album but what an album it is!
This takes me back to long road trips with my dad. Miles was unmatched.
Miles Davis in the late 1950s said one day he was going to play music that is silence. Here it is
I’m no jazz fan at all, but man Miles knew how to carry a tune…
Как всегда до-глубины души!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nia longs instagram bought me to this beautiful piece of art

Wud love to hear your story!
Me too. And the whole vocabulary of his band members who went and created progressive electric instrumental music. My youth.
When musicians could take chances.

When I was a student I read Jolly Corner by Henry James while listening to this track. A double-whammy hall-of-mirror extravaganza. Who needs ayahuasca?

The intro did not sound like the Miles I grew up on. I almost shut him down.
Of course it didn't , Miles music was in constant evolution and mutation. Every album was a new journey to the unknown. Un abrazo.
I thought the exact same. For me ,a layman listener, miles is at a different level. This does have a Return to Forever feel. Return to Forever I found to be a soulless band.
I think Miles Davis should've played with a little more conviction like a conviction of love perhaps. Maybe if he played with a conviction of love he could play it with his normal playing with color??? No... Or maybe he could play with more power??? Yeah maybe but maybe he could play with more color!!!! Yeah color and color makes light so yeah... Or maybe he just needs to let music take over like he does naturally with music's zeal of grace... Haha... This is a complicated topic because I'm not even sure what music is to be honest, it must be just zeal.
Hmm.
Thank you Spicolli.
@@craigr4763 Haha.. you don't agree? I think it's true he does believe in conviction of color too much!
@@halwarner3326 Haha... yeah whatever... I like his playing more than mine though.
I would have loved to see the look on your face when Miles Davis would have not noticed your existence as total silence.
