Can’t wait to try this! I used to have a lot of fishing tackle, but I’m sure it was all given away years ago so Walmart it is. Thank you for sharing! Sally in Northern California 😁😷
Thank you Amy! I can only punch with 3 strand due to multiple hand surgeries. It wastes so much time to constantly separate floss & thread the needle. I really needed this😊!
I have embroidered for years and it’s not a big deal to separate floss into “arm lengths”, but I’m working on my first punch needle project and your method is absolutely perfect for separating a skein at a time!! I am so lucky to have found this video. I have looked at many, many videos and this method is by far the most expedient! Even though I don’t have a tackle box I was able to locate spinners at good ‘ol Walmart! Thank you so much!
Amy, you are brilliant! I tried this and it works great. It got a little tangled a couple of feet before the end so I just cut the floss at that point. This is such a time saver and especially helpful if you want to split the whole skein without cutting it in pieces. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my goodness this is pure genius. Will definitely be adding this to my embroidery repertoire for so very many things!
So glad you found it helpful!
Thank you so much, this works beautifully, I am grateful to you! I so enjoy your channel, you are very talented, clever, and creative!

I’m definitely going to try this. It would be so much nicer to rethread less often. Thank you so much for making this video!
I am glad it is helpful for you!
Well that is a useful tip! thank you!
You're welcome.
I’m so glad I found your video. Too bad it was after I ended up with a knotted mess trying to separate 1 strand.
It is amazing how hard it is to get that floss untangled once you get knots! No doubt next time will go better!
@@DoodleDogPrimitives took me all night to get the knot out. I saved the skein.
How to punch needle with acrylic yarn
Looks good but the video to see how it was done was hard to see.
Great idea but, it doesn't work if you have a cat! Little bugger thought I was playing a game with her.
My cat likes to sit and wait until the very end of the string comes by her. Then she attacks!
