Very informative video, we had the distributorship for Parle which was then taken over by Coca Cola....have actually seen this transformation from Parle to Coca Cola in the Indian soft drinks market and their aggressive marketing campaign....fridge for shop keepers, hoardings with shop names, freebies like Noodles on 1.5 litre bottle, masala groundnuts and what not....
Government should have supported Parle at their time of crisis like US does. Had there been a VC ecosystem at that time, Parle beverages wouldn’t have failed.

Moreover, parle was sold to Coke either out of fear or out of greed. Not because they had failed. In fact they had not failed, but had the fear of failure in front of the world gaints.
Not really. Parle would have lost a long, expensive drawn out war against Coke. So they made the correct decision to cash out while they could. Whenever anyone sips a coke or thumbs up, there's a high chance they are munching on some Parle snacks anyway.

I am actively in FMCG company that deal in beverage industry. Still coca cola India can't ignore brand and sales of Thumbs up. Coca cola India has successfully phased out Parle's Gold spot and Citra brands with Fanta and Sprite respectively. Still thumbs is a leading black color cola brand
The entire Parle Products, had been sold out, to Coco cola, and the last product in it was Thums up and at a high valuation. So Parle had got its deal at a good price, and as of now Parle has only bottling plants.
If am not wrong Mr. Chauhan sold it all but not Bisleri Water and Parle G, one can know his long vision of not selling these 2 Great Items. Even if you ask any common men of Hindustan his first choice for cold drink is Thums Up only, and you know no offense Thums Up with Old Monk is ultimate as I stay in USA the Indian Restaurant here have cocktail of Thums Up with Old Monk Rum by various name and one of them named it “Masti Maker” and many more by name of their choice and starting price of this is any guesses ??? $ 12 or May be more but not less . 👍
