My best friend is getting a reduction done in a few days so I'm out here trying to learn a little and prepare for what she might go through! She'll be staying with me for recovery, so I'm trying to figure out what to expect. I'm excited for her, but nervous! 😅❤️

sorry im responding so late lol but it went super well! i only needed to take my pain meds for 3 days and after that I was managing with 2 tylenol whenever i needed them. the first week had the worst muscular/deep pain and the second and third week were the worst as far as my stiches and the surrounding skin. it felt like a combination of working out too hard and having a moderate sunburn, but nothing i couldnt handle. the only things that are still uncomfortable are bumpy car rides and seatbelts (which somehow always find my nipple lol), and walking to brisk or for too long. I havent tried running and i wont until the 2 month mark. ive slept once or twice without a bra this week (week 4) and ive woken up sore even though i stayed on my back, so I guess that was a bit ambitious. overall, the healing process is proving to be pretty easy after the first week! hit me up with any more questions and ill answer em as quick as possible!
I just got my breast reduction done early this week so far it’s painful but very tolerable. I hope everyone who going through this journey or planning to have a safe recovery.

I just got mine done today! 50 yrs old, a 36M brought down to either a d or c, I only took a norco after surgery, but so far so good! You must walk every hour for 15 minutes to prevent blood clots! My right breast has more drainage and pain than the left, but that is normal. They're very high and no black and blue, I took the patch and I have no issues and I just are a chicken picatta dinner and carrot cake! I'm in San Diego 😊👍
I am 55 and my surgery will be in 17 days. I am soooo excited. As an older woman, did you find your healing process any different than what younger women report in these videos and blogs? There are very few UA-cam videos on breast surgery journeys of women 50 and older.
@@victoriawallacehunter3448 My mom helped me for 6wks, because you can't lift more than 3 pounds and it's difficult to wipe your bottom, you can't put your arms behind your back, no pushing, pulling, reaching or lifting! Other than that I was totally fine, my pain level was pretty mild and you don't need 6wks of care, I was fortunate to have it, but all it takes is the wrong move to pop a blood vessel, tear your openings etc..I follow a breast reduction page on fbk and it has everything you need to know on the site. Good luck!
I am 48 on Thursday, in San Diego, and hoping to get mine reduced. Were you able to get it done through insurance? Did you like your Dr. and the results?

Why no compression garment? I've never seen this procedure done (my own included) without them being used and in fact insisted upon to aid post operative recovery.
I watched another person do this surgery specifically with dr. Barrett which is who she got it done with. In that video he said he doesn’t use the surgical bras because he likes there to be more blood flow, and he believes it’s just better without it. Mines in two weeks so I’ve been watching a lot of these
@@Imthatgirlie oh good luck! i just got mine done 2 days ago and im in a bit of discomfort but totally worth it. Im in a compression garment and tbh they help with swelling but they kinda are annoying.
I think compression isn’t recommended for women who are at risk of nipple death. For women who have thinner skin or women who have their nipples moved too far, circulation is important to prevent necrosis.
@@OhAlice1951 I agree. I had a free nipple graft done which means that my breasts where to large so they couldn’t do a regular procedure, they had to complete remove my nipple and graft it back on. I didn’t receive a compression bra, just a normal bra with clips in the front
@@OhAlice1951 my doc recommended me compression bra n yes I faced that horrible nipple necrosis , ruined my boobs . I wish I could look at ur comment before getting my boobs done .

I just went to a consultation and we’re waiting to hear back from insurance! I’m so excited yet terrified to go through the procedure. I have heard from a lot of people that it truly is a rollercoaster of emotions. I’m really really glad you shared your experience by showing us your bruising, how emotional you were, what would be “normal” to experience, etc. I was not expecting it to have that much bruising, but knowing that it’s normal is a bit more comforting and now I know a little bit of what to expect. Thank you so much!
The bruising I had was from fat transfer, so depending on your situation it may or may not look like that 🖤

Thank you for sharing your journey. I just had my reduction and lift and I have a lot of bruising as well. Seeing this makes me feel less nervous about it (even though my doc says that it’s normal)!

I just had my surgery done on July 12th. The total cost of the procedure in Texas for me was $9,500 but thankfully my insurance covered everything and I only had to pay a $300 copay. I too went from a DD to a B/C cup. I’m only 1 week post op but so far I’m loving my results and no more back pain! Also, I think height and weight play a huge part in whether your insurance will cover or not. I’m 5’1 in height and 109 pounds so I got covered fully.

I just had my reduction surgery yesterday! im so happy with the results even though i cant see them just yet, but did you ever get super emotional post surgery? I was crying over everything ahah. my mom asked what kind of bagel i wanted and i started bawling.
Overall though i went from a ddd to a c and im so excited for the end results!
just got mine done today and yes🤣🤣 i cried because i had to pee, because i had to sleep in a shorter bed like literally anything

I'm I'm the process. I have an appointment with the breast doctor hopefully I'm accepted. I'm so excited that things are even moving along I could cry!!!
I'm studying really hard so when I'm employed my first vacation is going to be my breast reduction surgery! I've been struggling since puberty and my main motivation now is to get my breast operation. I just know that life is going to be easier. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Thank you for being so thorough!! I needed to see the aftermath because I wanna get breast removal due to how uncomfortable I ALWAYS am. Just had mine done on December 7th. It was done using my insurance. My surgeon did a great job. I did not have drains and no stitches to remove post op. I also did not need a surgical bra. Six days after and some bruises and doing ok. Don't give up. It can happen.

I’m happy for you. They look great, I had my breast lift & breast implants done 4 months ago and I’m thrilled! I did however use a support bra, not sure why your Dr. Didn’t give you one, also I have invisible stitches which dissolve on thier own and no stiches had to be removed at all, my scars are literally not visible. Hope everything goes well for you!
She got a reduction, so it’s different in a way & not using a support bra helps with the blood flow while healing.
@@kilovesdaisiesOP is correct. Every breast operation requires a surgical support bra/garment. Very unusual that her Dr didn't recommend them. A bit of a red flag if a Dr doesn't request this for their patient tbh 😬

Hi ! Just had mine 3 days ago. Keep in mind that everyone is different. I personally had almost no pain and minimal bruising, no pain meds except extra strength Tylenol. Bruised and swollen but nothing compared to this lady in the video. Good luck 🍀🙏🏻
Also showered by myself the evening after the surgery. Yes , I’m pretty tired but that is normal . Arm movements are normal but I am trying to protect myself so I don’t do much. Good to have someone to take care of you the first week.

@@jameishaward7033 it’s a common fluid filled capsule which can happen after breast surgery but is very easily treated if got early. Mine got infected as I left it too long but it was fine x

@@iona5439 It went well! The healing process is different from Alexsis's but it is healing well!
@@iona5439 for me it went great! Anesthesia is the worst part and it’ll make you sick for a day. But after that you notice the difference right away. I immediately went to the mall trying to find something nice… now I can’t stop lol. It is more like the worst soreness you’ve ever had. I wouldn’t say pain. It’s been a few days but the soreness is going down.
Thank you for being so informative! I also have Kaiser and I’m not able to choose my surgeon. May I ask why you went with your doctor and not the one Kaiser was referring you to?
I had to end up going with a plastic surgeon outside of Kaiser because Kaiser wants to make you jump through hoops. If it works for you then good, but in my case they weren’t going to help me. They wanted me to lose weight, get injections for back pain, and go to physical therapy. None of that worked and I got tired of waiting. Also with Kaiser if the surgeon makes you uncomfortable you can always request for a doctor change :)

I just had mine 3 days ago , I’m not having any pain or taking any meds except Tylenol every 8 hours. Minimal bruising, so far so good . Reduction, lift and under arm lipo.

@@breianalawrence7388 they recommend that ur over 18 but there’s no law about it. It was a “medical problem” because of the back pains and my inability to do sports. Mine was covered by Insurance

I got mine done 3 days ago and it‘s the best decision I‘ve ever made. I was at the hospital until today, just headed home and I‘m still very nauseous. So I hope the recovery will be better:)

Best surgery I’ve ever done
I’m 2 days post op. I started my period 2 days before surgery lol it’s awful. Thanks for sharing your story. I’m wearing a vacuum device called Prevena. It helps with scarring and decreases infection. I plan on using silicone tape after my two weeks wearing this vac device.
What vitamins did you take for recovery
I am experiencing the jolting out my sleep and it is driving me bat crazy.. How long did you experience this post op..

So did you not have to wear a compression bra at all while you recovered? I’m 3 weeks post op from my breast reduction and lift! And I have to wear mine 24/7 and I’m so ready to be done lol also, isn’t the nerve regeneration tingling crazy?? Also also, love that tie dye crop towards the end. Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s a crazy physical and emotional journey for sure. I’m worried they’re going to be too small, so it’s comforting to watch your story and know I’m not alone in the emotional aspect.

I had a breast reduction, liposuction on my side boob fat July 5 th 2022. I was sent home with gauze and wrapped in ace bandage and of course the suture’s around the nipples. I did not get drainage tube’s.

I’m a aa but i really wanna have a flatter chest, it makes me really insecure. The only thing I worried about is scarring, I hope there’s a surgery out there that removes the tissue without scarring. I don’t wanna have a completely flat chest, I just want it a bit flatter than I am. :)

I just have my reduction lift & side breast tissue lipo yesterday. I was instructed to wear a snug fitting medical grade bra for at least 3 weeks which I would want to do anyway due to the pain & discomfort. My surgery was covered except for a copay of $150. & approved with 1.5 days. I feel like your state insurance company & Dr may have done you a huge disservice. I would definitely call the insurance company & explain to see if the will cover a second surgery. You should travel outside of the West Coast area if possible. I moved back to my home state in the south several years ago & glad I did. My Dr is so kind & the quality of service so far has been excellent . I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this especially paying out of pocket. In my opinion it’s unacceptable.

I’m scared of how to feel after waking up from anesthesia is it true you sleep a lot? Do you feel back to yourself soon?
It is very personal, everyone has different experience, some get really bad nausea (you can get medicine for that), some are totally fine. My experience was really good, it felt like waking up from a good night sleep, I even saw a dream, was myself immediately. Got my surgery 3 weeks ago, best decision ever. The surgery is the easiest phase I think, it is over so fast

I've had 9 neck/back surgeries and am fused 4 levels in my neck and 3 in my lower back. My insurance "excludes" reduction so no matter what, they won't cover it. I hate insurance! I'm paying out of pocket and surgery is in 3 weeks.
What was your cup size before and after?
I suffer from great discomfort from my large breasts and really wish I could have access to a surgery.
My rib cage sometimes feels painful when I'm without a bra for too long. Is this strange or it's just me?
That happens to me too, I’ve had large breast since I was in elementary school but whenever I sit for a long time with no bra it hurts so bad underneath.
