It is a trim tab (wooden plank 15 cm x 2,0 m) hinged to the rudder. This can be linked to autopilot in different ways. Here it is a vertical rod as you see, but wires and blocks or cable can also be used and then have the autopilot on deck aft of coaming. Works better the higher the speed and very little power consumption.
@@jeppejulnielsen4277 am I correct in seeing a bungy cord connected to the rod through a pully to give a back-pressure on the trim tab roughly parallel to the autopilot unit? What necessiated this?

@@MAlgMAlg1 That is a wire that goes to to a rudder reference under deck.
