Great find. I wouldn’t throw out the jap mat, just lay it on the grass, give it a good clean and the worms will leave on there own. I would also try and save the big sponge blocks with the holes in as they are hard to get hold of and are expensive.
That has to be one of the dirtiest filters I have ever seen but you can't complain about the price...free. You're off the a great start with the jet washing and the filter is starting to look almost new. I'd definitely save as much of the media as you can by giving it a thorough clean. Media isn't cheap these days. Looking forward to part 2.
Wow that's grim 🤣 especially in the van. Great find for free 👍 get that jap mat jetwashed and pp'd and it's good to go. Get that one the pond somewhere I reckon. I'm just about start adding some extra bio on mine this week
Worms in a last stage of filter is a good sign LOL I collect mine to feed to my Puffers 🙂 That part of the filter was good cause as you say they eat the crap away #greetingsfromgermany
Very well done just get a jet wash on it and it will be fine , even the the sponges and matting will be ok . And you have saved a considerable amount of money trust me . As for the worms etc they like all of nature are opportunists , and people even buy such things to add to their compost heaps . So sir I think you deserve a pat on the back, and a drink for rescuing this kit from the tip . Obviously it’s not a nexus , but with good husbandry it will give you good service till you wish to expand your system . And eventually you will have no problem selling in the future , assuming you clean it first 😂 so a total win win situation . Best wishes and kind regards 👍👍👍
Hi Ad not a video to watch if your eating, I would have saved the worms for fishing 😀 seriously well done on cleaning it but I would pp the matting and possibly still use it. 👍👍
Great find for free I guess mate but blimming hec that got to be the dirtiest filter I've ever seen I wouldn't have had the balls to even give it away in that condition 😳 but in regards to the jap matt give it a good clean leave it out the worms will leave on there own then give it another clean then pp it and it will be as good as new 👍
