Agree that is why i quit last time since i had no idea what the hell is going on in the story so all the game was just bunch of fetch quests like in a f2p mmo.
@raypol1 I've hopped into wow classic and have been enjoying it, if you want the full aspect of where you are in the story, you would need to look at the warcraft 3 stuff on UA-cam, it kinda works for me:)
glad to see i can do all the old quests i am coming back after 11 years and i wanna play every expansion as much as posssible . this really makes my day seeing this
Thank you so much for explaining this, i planned to come back to retail & start leveling new characters in preparation of Dragonflight & had no idea how this worked lol
This video was well organized and easy to understand, thank you! I've been scouring YT trying to figure out where I should start for my campaign but most the videos just didn't seem to click for me like yours did.
Thank you for your detailed breakdown of this... I'm back after thirteen years. Logged out for what I thought was for good in the waiting area for ICC back in January 2010, and let's just say what I got dropped back into in Org made me feel like I was from the 1900s and suddenly got warped into Comic Con 2018. It's just overwhelming--everything has changed and it's sensory overload. Right now just flying around on my albino drake mount over Org trying to get my interface manageable. Got plunged into a Battle for Azeroth tutorial seeming chain and instantly remembered Nathanos Blightcaller, the undead hunter guy in Plaguelands who had the demon hounds and you did quests for, and he's completely different, plus Sylvanas is now Warchief. Whoa. Last lore thing I remember was rumblings of Thrall being usurped by the new Hellscream heir from Nagrand. Lot to catch up. Anyway, thanks for this... I finally have somewhere to start. Oh, and what the hell happened to ruins of Lordaeron.... lol. My bank alt couldn't even find the old elevators to get to UC.
Welcome back!! If you ever need to get back to old Undercity, talk to the Zidormi outside, and she will take you back to what it was like before everything got f’d up 😆
@@nukawow Thank you for all your guides, Nuka. Really, really helpful for getting back into things as it's all overwhelming and completely different. I hit 60 mostly focusing on the undead zones of cataclysm in an attempt to catch-up with the lore... having been solidly following the lore as it came out with the last patch of 1.0 all the way to ICC, I can definitely say there was a drastic change in writing with Cata. The self parody everywhere, movie references, plus the strange new steampunk / unapologetically malicious tone of Sylvannas and the undead were pretty jarring. Was surprised people were upset or shocked about the Teldrassil burning after what the undead did to Gilneas in cataclysm, not to mention all the cute things going on in Hillsbrad. I have to say if I started in Cataclysm I would have rerolled Alliance. And I was a strong Horde guy from the get go. I have a question... is there a quest chain in Burning Legion where a contingent of Forsaken and humans attempt to reunite with family members in Arathi Highlands yet get slaughtered by Sylvannas when the undead obviously turn their back on her crap when the humans welcome them? Plus a priestess gets killed and then the Naa'ru turn her into a light-infused undead? That sounds really cool and reminds me of some of the old storylines. Or was this just off-scene like Cairne's death or in one of the novelizations? Anyway, thanks again for your videos, would love to see more and your thoughts on Dragonflight... or if you've tried Hardcore challenge in Classic! That's what brought me back.
I don’t really care for exiles reach, but it’s easier than the traditional starting areas. Wrath or legion was my favorites. Good storyline. Have fun explorers!
Damn I have to say I loved how it used to work. Back in MoP / WoD I was leveling my characters just by doing everything in each expansion and basically I was out leveling the content. So after being done with everything in Classic I was about level 64.. before going to Outland I went and soloed Molten Core for some cool loots. Then proceeded to TBC and ended up 75 and soloing pretty much all the raiding content. After that I focused on playing my main in WoD and Legion and sadly this way didn't work anymore when I came back. I had plans to overlevel with WotlK and Cataclysm so much that I would be able to skip some expansions completely.
I was hoping to be able to do something like this now, where I skate through and solo all the old content so I don't have to worry about groups for dungeons and raids but it doesn't seem like this is possible anymore...if so I don't understand how...
Great explanation but I have a few additional questions. So when you travel back to the previous expansions, will the mechanics be the same as the modern timeline such as the leveling speed, amount of money you receive for quests, which spells you learn, etc. And will you be able to take modern items back in time with you? I'm kinda just confused how it blends in with the modern timeline. I didn't learn about this until I already played through about 10 levels of BfA, so I'm wondering how that will affect me going back into past expansions at this point. I would like to play through previous expansions but not if the mechanics of the game revert to what they were during the time of that expansion. Please let me know!
@@qui-gonjinn6060 do you get to level 50 in all of them? So if you want to play more than one expansion you will have to play the second one at level 50? It sounds way too fast

one question I still cannot find and answer to: When you start a new character for example night elf hunter. You level in Darnassus until roughly 10 and then go to Stormwind. Now, what is the "default" timeline if I never even interact with chromie and never pick an expansion? Classic zones all seem to cap at 30?
if you decide to not speak to Chromie and you're level 10, then you can just do quests and dungeons wherever you want - Chromie isn't a requirement which I think a lot of people are still confused on - you could level through Classic zones until 30-ish and then go start Cata, or go to MoP - there really isn't any "default" or anything that you "should" do if you've leveled through before
On my Dracthyr Horde , i wanted to level up in Azeroth, DL expansion crashes my Laptop in the main capital, i pick Cata now im stuck in the wrong timeline after level Cap. I don't see any Warchief beside old 1s , im like dam , i just wanna go into the proper current "timeline" .. it's a pain too leave it once i picked a timeline 😕 i have DK Ebon Blade members all over Orgammiar . Is there any way to play the game from the actual beginning of the story? Like after the immediate events of warcraft 3? I like to play games for the story, so i don't want to be thrown at the midle of the events. It doesn't make sense to me and is pretty cofusing...
Uhm not really. You can go and do the Wrath expansion which would be the “closest” thing to events from Warcraft 3 but it’s not necessarily directly after those events
so you said some zones in a expansion are scaled like one starts at lvl 10, then you reach a certain level you go to the other zone, etc. What if I bring a lvl 50 character to an expansion? Does it automatically skip all the zones that were scaled below my current level? My goal is to start each expansion at the natural leveling progression and move forward as the game intended. So to do that do I need to create a new character at lvl 1 and start fresh for each expansion I want to do? thx
So if im right i can level through any zone and come back whenever i want to do classic zones, i cant queu for classic dungeons but i can just go there and solo them if im high enough? I want to play all content in order
