Hi, if I want to combine two different coordinate, one of them is the unreferenced local system, the other is world geodetic system, then which system should I use?
Hello, Thank you for your comment! You can use different coordinates systems in the same map so long as they are assigned to different layers. The instructions to do so can be found here: support.goldensoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/226627507-Use-map-layers-with-different-coordinate-systems-in-the-same-Surfer-map?source=search Sincerely, Golden Software Support
How did you import that good grid layer from tif? I have tried to export countour map (grid) to tif, than add countor map from that tif, and it was incorrect, faulty. I have problem with assigning no data to countour map from grid, after blank it is ragged, and don’t adhere to polygon boundry. Please help
Hi Filip, Thank you for your comment! Without seeing the contour map you exported to TIF it is hard to say exactly why it is not behaving as expected. In order to determine a solution we would recommend starting a ticket with our support team by emailing support@goldensoftware.com with your data attached and one of our experts can directly assist you. Thank you for your comment! To draw a polygon in your map you can follow the instructions here: support.goldensoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/226661208-Create-a-NoData-Polygon-or-BLN-file-in-Surfer If you have further questions on the process I would recommend reaching out to our support team at support@goldensoftware.com
Thankyou so much for reply. I will go through these instructions and apply. Today, i spent 4 to 5 hours generating dxf file, saving as bln file, imposing on my surfer contours map but did work.
Hi Anas! You can import a TIF and DXF by using the File | Open command and selecting your TIF or DXF. You can read more about assigning nodata in our help, here: surferhelp.goldensoftware.com/gridmenu/Assign-NoData-Blank-Grid.htm?Highlight=nodata If you have any other questions, please email us as support@goldensoftware.com
Hello Iman, Thank you for your comment! If you would like to resample your contours so that they utilize less nodes you can use the Grid Mosaic command. Click Grids | Resize | Mosaic and then choose the grid file that generated your contours. From the Grid Mosaic dialog you can decrease the number of nodes as desired. Sincerely, Golden Software Support
thank you for your comment I used it and it worked but I have a question which method is better to reduce the number of points data? I saw different methods I am drawing an estuary bed surface and the original number of bed data is 92000 points How could I know that the new map was the same as the original map and there is no distortion on it I will be grateful if you answer me great thanks
@@imanalwan479 Hello Iman, Thank you for your follow-up comment. There is no "better" method from the options given, it is just whichever method fits better with your data. The best way to determine this is by testing each method and seeing which output you prefer. If you want to compare the two maps you could either overlay the contour maps in the same map frame by clicking Map Tools | Overlay Maps and seeing if there are noticeable differences. Or, if you want to compare numbers such as data points, and XY extents you can select your Contour layer in the Contents Window and from the Property Manager click General | Grid File | Grid Info.
