    Hello, thank you for your video. When drawing a cross-section, the same formation is assigned multiple colors, and when adding a pattern, I can only change the pattern of the surroundings, not the pattern of the well. Where am I making a mistake? I would be very grateful if you could help.

      Hi,
      Thanks for reaching out. If the same formation is being assigned multiple different colors/patterns, my first thought is that the keywords in your data are not consistent. Keyword schemes operate on exact text matches for the defined keyword. If your dataset contains something like 'Sandstone' 'Sand stone' and 'sandstone', Strater will recognize those as three distinct keywords. You'll need to ensure that whatever keyword you're using is consistent.
      The answer to your second question depends on what approach you're currently taking. If you're not already, I'd strongly recommend customizing your cross section properties using the Scheme Editor rather than changing properties individually for different layers. If you're already using Schemes and you find that your wells are not changing when your cross section is changing, that tells me the same scheme is not being used by both the wells and the cross section. You'll either need to change both schemes, or, make sure the wells are using the same scheme as the cross section. You can do this by selecting the Logs object in your Object Manager, and changing the Keyword scheme field in the Property Manager.

    Thank you for your clarification on the cross-section, However, I face Strater Warning shows ''the default cross-section setting will cause some of the logs to be overlapped. cross-section cannot be created using overlapped logs'' Why not the software takes the inputted UTM/ geographic location from the collars?

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  3 роки тому

      Hello,
      It is not possible to have touching/overlapping raster logs in a Cross Section in Strater; however, it is possible in the Borehole view to have touching/overlapping logs.
      If you want to create the cross section for the wells that have 2 raster log there are two options.
      You can create a single TIF image of the raster logs, and depth register the combined TIF to use in Strater.
      You can adjust the Collars table so that the wells are closer together. This will take some trial and error as you will need to get the perfect coordinates for the collar locations

    I don't know if it is a limitation of the software, but is there a way to have only one label per layer in a cross section? I have about 4 or 5 boreholes with connected layers, but it creates a new label for everything in between the boreholes and it crowds the visuals a lot.
    I could turn off the labels and make a text box for each layer manually, but I was hoping there was a more robust way to do it in larger workflows. Thanks!

      @GoldenSoftware  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Daniel! Thank you for your question. It is currently not possible to have only one label per layer in a cross section unless you choose to only show the labels for a single log in your cross section or making individual text boxes as you mentioned. If you would like to show the labels for only one of the logs, you can select that log in the Object Manager, then click on the label tab in the Property Manager. Then, choose an option for Show Label. You can adjust the position manually by changing the Horizontal or Vertical alignment or even adding blanks in the Prefix or Suffix fields. Hi! Thanks for the class. I'd like to know if there is the possibility to create cross sections without easting and northing data. For example, using distances between two logs data. I usually don't have this kind of information, just the distances between the holes in the construction. Lastly, is it possible to plot the results of the Standard Penetration Test beside the log when the cross section is created? So I could see this information in the cross section.

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  3 роки тому

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment. Strater requires X and Y data for wells to create cross sections. You'll need to either be sure you collect that information, or you would need to attempt to manipulate your distance data such that you have usable X and Y positions instead of distances from each other.
      For your second question, yes. You can either create a line/symbol cross section, or you can add a line/symbol log to your completed lithology/zone bar cross section. More information can be found here: support.goldensoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/226500387-Add-other-logs-such-as-bar-logs-to-a-Strater-cross-section

      Hi Najmi,
      Thank you for posting your question. If the same lithology has different different colors and fill patterns across different logs means that you are using different schemes for the logs. I don't see a create well selector dialog box, I have played this numerous times. How did you get your well data header to be blank?

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Ana,
      In the video, the following steps are completed. Each of the dialogs open automatically after the previous step is completed if you follow along using the same files.
      1. Click Home | New | Cross Section View.
      2. Click Cross Section | Create/Add | Create Cross Section.
      3. In the Open Collars File dialog, select GeoscienceAustraliaData.xlsx and click Open.
      4. In the XLSX Import Options dialog, select Well Header Data and click OK.
      5. In the Specify Worksheet Column Definitions dialog, check Specify Column Header Row and click Next.
      6. In the Specify Data Type and Column Positions dialog, click Finish.
      Note that the empty Well Header Data worksheet shown in the video auto-fills with the data in less than a second. The recording was paused prior to the data populating in the worksheet which is why it appears to be blank. A Map view is also automatically created at this point and the Create Well Selector dialog is opened.
      7.In the Create Well Selector dialog, adjust the Wells in selector section to show BORAH CREEK 1, BORAH CREEK 4, BORAH CREEK 2, BORAH CREEK 5 from top to bottom and click OK.
      8. In the Import Cross Section Data dialog, click Import Data under Action.
      9. In the Import Data dialog, select GeoscienceAustraliaData.xlsx and click Open.
      10. In the MultiSheet Selection dialog, uncheck Well Header Data and click OK.
      11. Click Next and Finish in each of the following dialogs to complete the import.
      12. Click OK in the Import Cross Section Data dialog.
      13.The cross section is created.
      I hope this helps clarify the steps taken in the video.
      Sincerely,
      Katie

    Can I mix two lithologies in the same interval without separate the interval? I have tried but I didn´t found it, I need create a lithology with chance facies and grain decreise

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  7 років тому +1

      Hi Daniel,
      Thanks for posting your question. It is not currently possible to have two lithologies in the same interval. You will need to either create smaller intervals or create a complex text log that contains a description of what is happening at those specific intervals. You can also overlay logs on top of one another, which may be a solution for you. Please see the Multiple Boreholes.sdg file that is located in Strater's sample file directory (C:\Program Files\Golden Software\Strater 5). This SDG contains a few overlaid logs as an example.
      I have added a feature request for future versions of Strater to support multiple lithologies within the same interval.
      Thanks!
      Drew

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  4 роки тому

      Hi Mohamed,
      Thank you for your comment. Strater uses various tables to create and display the various log-types that Strater is capable of generating. How you set up your data and which tables you will use will depend on what you're trying to create. I recommend watching our training video on loading data here: ua-cam.com/video/wCRmw-uykrs/v-deo.html
      Strater supports Excel file formats, so you can import your data directly if it is already saved as an Excel worksheet.

      @@GoldenSoftware that's not what I mean..
      I want to know 1- How to prepare the excel sheet for making cross section?,thats not clear in video ready one.
      2-when I import my sheet ,how can I connect more than one Lithology together that's will give cross section?
      3- can I put location for each well by latitude and longitude on the cross section??

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  4 роки тому +1

      @@mohamedzizo1919 Hi Mohamed,
      Thank you for your comment. As I mentioned, data in Strater must be input into one of the various tables which can then be used to create the different logs Strater supports. How you will organize your data in Excel and what data you need will depend fully on what logs you will be using in your cross-section and what tables you will need to create those logs. Strater requires a lithology table or interval table for lithology/zone bar log cross sections. Strater requires a depth table, interval table, or lithology table for a line/symbol log cross section.
      To connect wells together to produce a cross section, you have a few options. If your project has a Map View, you can use the Map | Add | Well Selector to select a series of wells to generate a cross section from. You can also use the Cross Section | Create/Add | Create Cross Section command to import Collars data and use the Create Well Selector dialog to select the wells that will make up the cross section.
      A collars table will require you to have easting and northing or lat/long information for your wells, and having a collars table is required to create a cross section.
      I highly recommend completing the in-app tutorial, as it covers importing data, creating logs, creating map views, and creating cross sections. The tutorial can be found here: straterhelp.goldensoftware.com/strater.htm#t=tutorial%2FTutorial_Introduction.htm

    How to set terrain

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  4 роки тому

      Hi Sherry,
      Thank you for posting your question. It is not currently possible to set the terrain for the top of a cross section in Strater. I have added a vote to our suggestion file, upon your behalf, for future versions of Strater to have this type of functionality. It is possible to set the tops of the boreholes to their true elevation by setting the Reference datum to Mean sea level. To do so, click View | Display | View Properties. Change the Reference Datum setting to Mean sea level.

    Thank you

    • @GoldenSoftware
      @GoldenSoftware  3 роки тому

      Hi Demeke,
      Thank you for posting your question. Strater can create cross sections based on your specific log data. If you're looking to create a cross section in the form of a profile of a geologic model that you have, you may want to consider using Surfer. With Surfer, you can create a contour map that represents a geological formation top, and a cross-section/profile may be drawn through a collection of contour maps that each represent a different geological formation. In this way you can create a subsurface section view through a geological model.
