Marth's Standing Grab Range in Melee reaches a distance of 18.7293 units, marking him as the 6th farthest reaching Grab. This, however, isn't the farthest non-tether Grab, that's Bowser at 19.241 units. They aren't nearly as strange as they look; Marth's famous "busted grab range" isn't very disjointed, barely reaching past his fingertips. Yes, it has very good range, but I saw that one gif of his range being higher than Yoshi's, what the absolute fuck is up with that? Well, there are two reasons. 1) Misleading data. This is sorta like when you see a supposedly "broken" hitbox, but in reality, it's just a misleading video where someone stuck their hurtbox out; think Plant's Down B. It shoots its head out, which has a hurtbox still! Getting hit snaps it back to its default getting hit animation, making it seem as if you hit Plant from its starting position. Obviously, that's untrue, but at face value, it looks silly, right? This explains Marth vs Yoshi. Yoshi's grab range is significantly higher, BUT Yoshi is thick as hell with a giant grabbable nose, Marth is a thin twink. If it's two Marths standing some distance away, it'll never land. It's just that Yoshi's hurtbox is very wide. 2) Marth has a really good grab. He has chaingrabs, namely, which if skilled enough, lead to death (or simply a massive combo). Bowser has higher grab range, but what grab combos does he have? Ever seen a Melee Bowser chain grab? No. But have you seen Bowser Up Throw Up Air in Smash 4? And what game do people complain about his grab range in? Bingo. 3) Marth is high tier. He's seen a lot. He does have high grab range, even if it's not like halfscreen as the memes say. He lands a lot of grabs, as they're amazing to land. So it's just kinda no wonder. So it's not like Marth actually has busted grab range. Like, it's good. Very good, even, but it's a mix of weird examples and reward for landing it that makes it crazy. There's obviously more than just range at play here, which is why you don't hear about Samus' grab being broken. It's sorta like saying Plant's Side B is broken because it has the *potential* to deal insane damage, and your proof for this is a character standing still in the cloud. Like, sure, it's true, I guess. But that's not really proof.
@@HELLO-mx6pt melee in ultimate, it's 20u exactly, which is good but is still less than charizard's 21.4u, lucas's 22.9u, and ivysaur's 23u it's also worth noting that his melee grab can _feel_ especially stubby despite its range, because it's got some p. bad negative disjoint going on. the hitbox doesn't even cover his fingers, so it's both got less range than it looks _and_ it can be challenged by non-disjoints more often than something like marth's grab. so like the guy ( or the copypasta? this feels vaguely like a copypasta ) said, it's not really so much a matter of the range so much as everything else about the grab
@@hi-i-am-atan melee Bowser has literally one of the worst grabs in the entire game. the difference between him and Marth is that while Marth has a technical less reach, Martha's entire grab extends in front of himself giving him one of the best horizontal grab reaches in the entire game. In comparison, basically all of Bowser's grab is stuck inside of his hurtbox which means that his grab is functionally practically unusable. just because it's "bigger" doesn't mean shit. saying Marth's grab range is larger would also be correct in this scenario since his grab functions WAY farther than Bowser despite having lower technical units
(Basically everyone is extremely strong in normal and the lower hard modes of FE11, so I think it's more fair to compare viability in the broken mess that is hard 4/hard5)
@@Gartenofbanbanfan10 I disagree. He may not be stand-out but he is with you the whole ride through, and he's not bad on H5 with some investment. With his availability and necessary deployment, he's really the _only_ unit in the whole game who you can make a good argument for investing into to overcome his faults.
