    I got my Humvee for 16,000 from gov planet and I have done a lot to it to make it Me. Something I’m proud of driving. I love my truck and I don’t regret spending over 36,000 to get it there. Thanks again for the video, it shows people that they are not 4,000.00 like they see on the govplanet.👍

    I have been watching gov planet and many of the 4-doors are bidding out between $20,000.00 and $35,000.00. 2-door versions are considerably cheaper. You did good getting it at $12,000.00.

    Learning how to weld is pretty easy, you can pick up a hobart 210 MIG welder for under $1,000, and you probably would want a plasma cutter also but it's not a hard skill to get the basics down on. Every town, even the small ones, has a metal supplier and a welding supply store to refill cylinders with argon and co2. It's a fun skill as well.

  • @brianlacroix6894
    @brianlacroix6894 9 місяців тому

    I knew you could not weld when I saw your dog... 😅😅😅 the truck is pretty sweet. Some times its better just to spend the money then fab it up your self and have it not as good. The fact is if some one makes bumpers all day they probably do a better job then 99% of the people out their.

    Is the truck street legal to register upon delivery?

    • @jimbella9353
      @jimbella9353 Рік тому +1

      Easy Answer: NO! I've yet to see a single Ex-Mil. (surplus) HMMWV on the Internet that complies with DOT/FMVSS Regs.
      NOTE: Yes, many have thus far gotten by with those shortcomings, but it's only going to take one case in one State for the HMMWV Street legal "House-of-Cards" to all come tumbling down in the U.S. at least. Some owners are already saying "We're Grandfathered In" so that won;t effect us, but these Military HMMWVs never did meet all DOT/FMVSS Regs. ...not even the HMMWVs coming off the assembly line today because they are designed AND built for a completely different scenario.

    What's the best year of humvee to build? Which is not very expensive and at same time not very old?

    • @Kevin24Seven
      @Kevin24Seven  Рік тому

      Good question. In my opinion the A2 trucks are best. They aren't turbocharged like the newest trucks unfortunately, but they have the transmissions with overdrive (4l80e), the 6.5 engine, and beefier suspension with higher load rating. I could be wrong, but I think they also have bigger axle shafts. I would avoid the A1 trucks such as the M998 mainly because they dont have overdrive meaning max cruising speed is only about 55, they have none of the aforementioned upgrades, and from what I've seen most tend to have far more use than the average A2. The latest gen trucks with turbos are the best but are usually crazy expensive and not worth the investment. They also have a real ugly front grill often referred to as the "guppy" style.

      August 2020 I bought a 1999 m1123 at auction for $10,400. It had 43 miles on it. It was a 2 door, no top, and no doors. So now I'm going to put a aluminum hard top, aluminum doors, and back with window.The top and doors will be about $8000. So at that point I will be at about $25,000 auction fees included. The m1123 has a 6.5 diesel, and 4 speed transmission, and park, which the earlier ones don't. I have had it up to 65 miles an hour, no problem. I live in Oregon and with the sf 97 It was easily made street legal.

    • @clashofclansshield8583
      @clashofclansshield8583 2 роки тому

      Billy Rae Matthiasonian did it go up again? I know it was 10% then they changed it to purchases under 10k to 15% and over 10k to 10% with a minimum of 1.5k charge. Plus the additional california tax or where ever the location tax is from. You need to provide some kind of resellers form if you want to be tax exempt. I wouldn’t be surprised if these rates increased. Keep in mind if making a purchase, another guy did a video on how they purposely miss photos of major issues. They did the same for my truck. Kind of a scam they are running in my opinion. Iron class assurance is void if you add a part or take off a part.

    • @clashofclansshield8583
      @clashofclansshield8583 2 роки тому

      Billy Rae Matthiasonian got mine from cali so it was more like 22.75% for me. No different from my state so I didn’t bother with the BoL paperwork.
      But I see why they would get it from GA now. My thing is that the odds of rust is much less in the deserts than the moist climate of GA. I know these were all USMC so they were probably driven in the ocean at some point but even more of a reason to let it sit in the dry desert.

    I did the math and the totals were off from the amounts you said for each line item. Also, it sounds like you replaced a lot of parts and could've bought one that wasn't as put together and saved yourself a couple thousand.

    • @Kevin24Seven
      @Kevin24Seven  2 роки тому +1

      Lol.....I knew there would be at least one commenter like this. After going through the list I added and subtracted a few things and it changed the math a bit.
      I highly doubt your point about buying one less put together for several reasons and actually advise people against this.
      Mainly because Humvees that are missing parts = donor Humvees.... and the overwhelming majority of donor Humvees = bad news.
      If you buy a donor Humvee be ready to potentially replace an engine, transmission, portals, diffs, master cylinder, power steering pump, steering boxes, engine fan, chassis, or some other major part. The US military is just not going to take parts off of good running units and neither is gov planet.

    • @Kevin24Seven
      @Kevin24Seven  2 роки тому +4

      @@JDCrain Yeah that's a hard pass for me. You are talking hundreds of hours of time and a shop with ample room not to mention buying a Duramax which would run at a minimum 8-10 grand for one that wasn't a 200k mile piece of scrap. At that point I would have about 45k or more into a Humvee and it wouldn't be work my time to sell it for anything less than 60k. When their are good H1s out there for 60k, why anyone would spend that on a surplus Humvee is beyond my comprehension.
