I mean my thing is that even if that black kid didn’t make good grades and did come from a bad environment, that doesn’t mean he deserves to be treated that way. I feel like that Dharman video encourages that “prove to me your humanity Negro” that racists have.
“I should’ve gotten to know you before judging” she wasn’t judging she was being racist, so what she’s basically saying is that if he hadn’t been a good kid it’d make her being racist valid
Here’s a breakdown on why this skit is bad: The message became skewed because he wanted to exaggerate the skit and the way he “remedied” the scenario in the skit made the implications that the racist mother only changed her outlook of the boy because his family had more money than them and the boy was smarter than her son. That’s not equality, that’s called being humbled. This skit portrayed humility rather than equality when discussing racism. This skit totally missed the point they were trying to make.
I think this is like a easier way to say it. In the world a lot of people when they are colored, a lot people like racist think that they are gonna say still something bc of their color.
right. these are still micro aggressions for poc (including me) that i “prove” wrong all the time but it doesn’t rid anyone of being racist or prejudiced
“Did you just finish the MiLk???” …yes but you had like three other cartons in the fri- NO, foolish child… I was going to drink that! I have been scrubbing the same spot on my oven for two hours!
I hate how he proved the mom wrong about everything she said about him and the mom just went “omg I’m so sorry 🥺”. You don’t need to prove to everyone that you have money nor do you need to change your appearance just to gain respect. People should give each other respect regardless without having to prove themselves to others. Besides, she never would’ve been sorry and made her son not hang out with him, if he never told and show her that his family actually has money. If this was me, I wouldn’t forgive her 😐 *(Yes, I do know that this whole video is all an act. I’m just saying what I think about the message Dhar’s video is giving. People are allowed to give opinions, so don’t be that idiot in some of the replies I’m seeing going “it’s not real 😑”.)*
The video would be 1million% better if he turned around and went "No i don't forgive you because the only reason you stopped judging me was becasue I'm rich, etc etc you should see me as a person first" that would be a mic drop right there
It makes me absolutely furious whenever any of the characters say “you see” because what they’re basically doing is _justifying their existence_ like….why? Oh yeah I’m a black man but I’m one of the *good* ones, I’m actually rich, I just dress poor. You shouldn’t be kind to someone solely cause they could be a millionaire or cause they have something of value or cause they’re going through a tough time and need pity, but because they’re a human being who deserve basic human respect.
This made me so mad. Like even if he was poor or didn’t have the best grades, how would that automatically make him a bad person? 😑 It’s just like you said, good message but unrealistic. In real life, racists don’t magically stop being racist or apologize because of a black person’s status in the world. The most they’d do is see that particular black person as “acceptable” “or an exception” if they’re middle or upper class. Still racist and classist. Tbh, sometimes rich black people become the biggest targets. Everyone deserves basic respect as long as they haven’t done anything to disrespect you.
It's not realistic on any front. I was raised in a racist home. That kid never would have called his mom out while his friend was over... because he would have known better than to bring his friend home. I was too embarrassed and nervous about how my dad would have behaved or "joked" or whatever to have brought home any friend that wasn't super white... like clearly not mixed. My dad wasn't in my life really until I was 11 after my mom was murdered, so luckily I was raised primarily by a strong woman who believed that people are all just people & we judge others by the content of their character not the color of their skin. That boy was OBVIOUSLY already embarrassed by his racist mom. He never would have brought his friend over, out of fear that his mom would insult him and it would end their friendship. It may have made more sense if mom came to school and saw them hanging out and went off and his friend chose not to stand there and listen to the moms bs... but the original video isn't realistic from ANY point of view...
Thank you. Just a good reminder that life is short. It's better to spread love than hate, especially when kindness is free & we have no idea what the person next to us is going through. I hope you have a beautiful week.
my problem with dhar man is that the bigotry is resolved when they find the "exception" minority. like no, you shouldnt be racist just because that black person just so happens to be a good rich kid, you shouldnt be racist to sny black kid because racism is bad. any minority doesnt have to prove that theyre an above-average person, respect everyonek even if they arent rich and top of their class. sidenote-you can be hardworking and still poor. and i dont like how dhar man sees rich people as "the hardest working" or "better"

@@meh1780 you can be racist if you're brown but i get what you mean. I just feel like his message to people is flawed. Like if you're actually trying to explain to racists why being racist is wrong you wouldn't use "a token black" to teach them a lesson. Btw this is criticizing, not hating. Hating would just be hating without cause or explanation, criticizing is explaining exactly what went wrong and the negative effects it has.
“ew you’re black???” “my dad drives a Tesla” “i am so sorry for how i treated you that was the most horrible way to ever talk to someone i promise i have learned from my mistakes please forgive me”

@@lemoncholy3264 no it isn't though. If he was poor, or even if he was a bad person she wouldn't have ever apologized and still would have been racist. Therefore the moral isn't that you shouldn't be racist it's that you shouldn't be racist because what if- there shouldn't be a what if. It's just don't be racist period. Like I wouldn't say you shouldn't push a pregnant woman because she owns a nice car. It's just don't push a pregnant woman. There is no because just don't do it. 12:39 yeah, and suddenly the bad person becomes so nice, everything is forgiven and happy ending. If it was me, i wouldnt even want to come back at their house or forgive her. It takes time to forgive someone...

@RandomAlyssa it wasn't necessarily a "hate comment" it was them stating Dhar man thinks he's above criticism because of his poorly constructed positive messages and unrealistic endings
(in my opinion) in the beginning when she made that racist remark about how his parents probably can't afford to feed him so he's eating an extra serving of cereal... so is she not gonna just let him eat? it showed that she had no empathy for him in the first place, so by dhar manns logic why should she have empathy for him now when she finds that she was wrong? the only thing she's feeling is guilt, she's not actually acknowledging the problem (which is the case in a lot of his videos smh)

"DID u just finish the milk I WAS GOING TO DRINK THAT👹👺👺👺👺"
Here’s a breakdown on why this skit is bad:
The message became skewed because he wanted to exaggerate the skit and the way he “remedied” the scenario in the skit made the implications that the racist mother only changed her outlook of the boy because his family had more money than them and the boy was smarter than her son.

If this was me, I wouldn’t forgive her 😐
*(Yes, I do know that this whole video is all an act. I’m just saying what I think about the message Dhar’s video is giving. People are allowed to give opinions, so don’t be that idiot in some of the replies I’m seeing going “it’s not real 😑”.)*

I am so sorry for what happened to your mother. It’s clear that she raised you well and she would be so proud of you right now :)

my problem with dhar man is that the bigotry is resolved when they find the "exception" minority. like no, you shouldnt be racist just because that black person just so happens to be a good rich kid, you shouldnt be racist to sny black kid because racism is bad. any minority doesnt have to prove that theyre an above-average person, respect everyonek even if they arent rich and top of their class. sidenote-you can be hardworking and still poor. and i dont like how dhar man sees rich people as "the hardest working" or "better"
