Do a video on mixing vocals that haven’t been recorded in the best recording environment, the vocal recording always sounds like it was recorded in a very treated environment
I thought they sounded pretty bad lol ..Definitely not the best recording environment. That being said, you can use these same tips but beforehand, put in soothe2 focused on low / low mids and or go on the hunt for resonances and manually reduce them with a dynamic eq. Also see gulfoss, smooth operator, reso, and sonible If the problem is harsh in room reverb, you can also use something like spl de-verb or a transient designer to shorten their decay Also consider an expander, gating, upward expansion, and boosting vocal presence with saturation / eq to lift the parts you do want to hear If you have a relationship with the singer, try convincing them to spend a little on some rockwool safe n sound, and get to making some acoustic panels! Also consider mic positioning in room, and experiment until you find the ideal location. Try to have the singer a few feet away from the corners, and avoid having the mic firing deep into the room Just a quick two cents Good luck. There are so many ways to approach these situations.
@@NeilZ2k15 probably too late to ask but.. Beside every very important information u gave us i got lost on that rockwool, acoustic panels... Im about to isolate a room and Im curious...risky to isolate to much with rockwool right? I made a medium room in my attic for the studio and the roof of it aint straight, so I might just need like roof and one wall no? Or no problem isolating everything? No problema to treat the room after that?
as far was reverb experimentation - I really dig widening the reverb on a send and then saturating it! waves s1 before the reverb and then Saturn 2 after. Makes for a wide dirty "hug" and the saturation acts as a faux compression. Also love a short plate feeding into a longer hall with a phaser in between the two for some character.
Hello Sage audio.Respect on all the amazing videos you put out.May you please put out a video on tips and approaches of mixing and mastering an EP or Album.
Hi Sage I know you’re not a free advice helpline but I was really wondering if you could try explain to me the difference between Reso, soothe, gullfoss and DSeq. Do they all do the same thing ? I don’t really have the money for soothe or gullfoss and was wondering if I could get similar results with reso or DSeq Any help would be super appreciated. I love your videos. I watch every single one and take so many notes. I hope to one day have a comprehensive understanding of sound like you do
You should add the same exact auto tune with the same settings as the one the vocal to the reverb track as the 1st plugin to make sure the reverb is perfectly in key with the vocals

This might be one of the best music production channels i've seen so far . It all looks so fucking professional
Great tips. That combination of the Fabfilter Reverb and Waves MV2 is killer
They went ham. I never thought about that mv2 there! That’s genius I can’t wait to try it.

your sensuous voice is the only thing that gets me through these trying times

Slick video as always! You've made my mixes a lot better lately. Thank you!
Soothe2 & Gullfoss have become such a great weapon for me on vocals now 👌🏽1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣
Thanks for this great Sage! ^^
Sibilance tip is a pure blessing! Currently working on a very sibilant project which drives me insane 😅

Привет из России! Автор, у тебя прекрасные уроки и замечательное оформление кадров. Ждем больше хороших видео и спасибо большое за такой контент)
I would love a video where you go further in depth about using Saturn’s modulation to recreate an analog kind of sound. Great video!
Y’all should definitely drop a vocal chain
That sibilance on another track tip is gold

Always learn something new 🤌
Hi, what microphone are you using and what equipment is connected to it
Definitely have to try these
Thanks for all you do ☺️
Awesome awesome tips!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Please do a video on mixing vocals recorded in a home/amateur/untreated studio, rather than in a treated proffesional studio.
Can you give us Saturn 2 preset?
