    The S23 would be the perfect camera phone (good size, good lenses including zoom) but the oversaturation completely destroys it for me. As a landscape photographer, I prefer the more natural colors of the Pixel.

    For consumer products like these we don't really distinguish between the capabilities of the cameras' hardware (lenses & sensors, etc) and their digital processing (software algorithms), which makes up so much of the phone photography experience. You may not like the specific rendering that each phone gives in a particular scenario; but if you learn to tweak the results in Edit mode, you can often closely match the results of these phones. Both are fantastic instruments - in many aspects they're far beyond any camera we may've owned in the pre-smart phone era.

    • @a1105536
      @a1105536 3 місяці тому +1

      Concur. When I look at these shots taken by reviewers, their ability particularly in low light is astonishing with what they produce (hardware + software). Its far beyond what I was able to capture on a long cycle touring trip (aus to sweden via africa) in 2010-11 using an early Olympus PEN M43 set-up, despite having nice glass (like the 20mm pany lens, and a shoe horned 50mm Nikon f1.8 for manual portrait/tele shots). When I look at some of the great shots I took of night and landscapes with that camera at the time... they are crap compared to what I could have easily achieved with either of these smartphones, particularly when it comes to dynamic range. Speed of these smartphones just blows the old equipment away, as well. When I look back, I am still really happy with what I captured, there's some beautiful memories. I just don't need to blow serious money on camera equipment any more, to be happy with my photography, enjoy it, and capture experiences to share :-)

      @roskapostit2609 2 місяці тому

      I agree. But majority of the phone camera users doesn't like (or can) to edit anything they just point and shoot. So it's very important how the camera works in it's default and automatic settings.

    • @pbasswil
      @pbasswil 2 місяці тому

      @@roskapostit2609 True, but also: the majority of consumers that never adjust their pics at all are much less critical of tonality & colour & exposure, than folks like you and me. It's disatisfaction (or evolved aesthetic tastes) that drives a person to figure out how to make adjustments. For most people, their visual discrimination lags behind even an average modern phone cam's capabilities.

    for very insignificant marginally worse photos on some occassion wrt color science on pixel 8 which can be minimised btw by turning off the scene optimizer in s23 cam settings, the s23 more than makes up for it by having a way more caparable SOC, extremely non buggy and smooth experience, superior thermal performance for anything and everything including gaming, superior modem for network performance on top of having superior video capabilities and front camera performance and portraits and telephoto capabilities. I've used the Pixel 8 and tbf, its a decent product but it feels like a beta product which is getting better, doesn't feel reliable and polished. credit where credit is due, the bugs in pixel do get fixed with a lot of patches and updates but they seem to pop up every now and then. A commercial device at this price point shouldn't have these many bugs. since switching to s23, it's been an extremely solid smooth sailing.

    Why people prefer "the natural look" if you want just a quick nice photo without editing, something like Samsung is much better.

    It's weird, to me for photos, the Samsung oversaturates the colours, but for videos, the Pixel oversaturates colours. I wonder why this is?

    Really like the s23 video stabilisation, but the photos are way too saturated which is so annoying. I want the photos from the pixel 8, but the stabilisation of the s23 😂

    I can't imagine using the Samsung camera for anything with that oversaturation

    Pixel pictures look better, have more light and colors it seems. Saying that, I'll still probably end up with the s23.

    The main thing verdict s23 saturated color camera but with a high end snapdragon gen 3
    Or pixel 8 natural color camera with high mid
    range tensor 3 chip
    I perfer natural color but i did like every single selfie from the galaxy compare to the pixel. Pixel makes you look too pale
