The different regions & villages have their own style & shapes, & then you have subb categories of shapes & lengths for different types of work they are used for. That's the short answer. Hope that helps? You could Reed about them all day & still find something new to learn about it the next day. Each style also has a lot of history behind it. When you start learning about kukris,it's like going down the UA-cam rabbit hole at 3am when you can't sleep. I've sometimes spent 2 hours looking at videos.
Most of the kukri knife I bought were not temper and harden. It crack by cutting goat/sheep bone. So, make sure it was tempter and harden before you buy, otherwise don't just buy because it is a kukri.
