    Finaly, first video after me moving. Let's continue with the next Initial Tiger Tank: Chassis No. 250002, Tiger 111 of the schwere Panzerabteilung 502 in its deployment on the eastern Front at the end of 1942. This first episode will cover building Dragon 6252, the inital release, into one of the first ever Tiger tanks. Next episode I'll finish it as an actually grey Tiger.

    According to Tiger1.info 111 did run two left-hand-side tracks at some point, no date is given though.

    Sehr interessant!

    Once again a well-made video from you, I also liked the explanation very much. You are one of the few modellers who also build a Dragon Tiger from the first edition ;).
    My early and late Dragon Tigers from the first edition are well protected in storage ;).
    Watching you makes me want to build my early Border Model Tigers with your resin tracks, as the kit tracks are segment tracks where you still have to fit the guide teeth yourself. I am curious about your paint job.

      Hey Markus, I bought 6252 for pure nostalgy, but it's a very impressive kit nevertheless. I do have a few more modern Dragon Tigers as well. Border Models Tiger does need a lot of attention and replaceing the tracks will generate some spare time used to fix some other parts : ) This one will be grey, me hugging Tank Art 1 - the RFM one will be winter camo.

    • @Tankbrusher

      Hi Leon, sry for answering late. The best free source of information is tiger1.info For books there is "the book" by Jentz and Doyle DW to Tiger I and a good phot series by Volker Ruff. I do own most of the other books about this topic, therefore it's a lot cross checking different sources - I named the best entry point everything else is supplementary and building up on these. Wolfgang Schneider is good resource as well for the operational overview, Spielberger has a good book as well - Jentz cleaned that one up in the one I mentionend before.

    • @Tankbrusher
      @Tankbrusher  3 роки тому +1

      DW to Tiger 1 is the book for the technical side. ATM I like the "Der Tiger" series by Volker Ruff (they are German and English) he is doing a picture based diary of single a batallions (Abteilungen). Schneider: Tigers in Combat 1&2 or the German original Tiger im Kampf I;II;III; Normandi Tiger, is a standard as well. Panther is more tricky, there is "germany's panther tank the quest for combat supremacy" and 4 Panzer Tracts booklets again by Jentz for the technical side and more appreance by factory focused "panther external appearance & design changes" atm I don't have any Panther book I'd recommend for the combat diray.

      @@CatEatsDogs Well that sucks. I had something similar with Panzer IV not long ago. If you buy one Tiger book, DW to Tiger 1 is worth it my opinion. Nearly all relavant changes are pointed out there. Schneiders' Tigers in combat is a new english edition available for lot less money than the hard covers are sold for.

    • @Tankbrusher
      @Tankbrusher  2 роки тому

      I'd not overpay for this kit since RFM 5075 is giving you the same tank with better tracks. I'd not go as far as calling 6252 obsolete, yet it basicly is. Both Dragon and RFM do have about the same amount of mistakes (even the same parts: Mud guards rear, Air intake cover, road wheels). If you're interessted I publish the RFM one soon. V1 is next, RFM after, before I'll paint them.

    Schönes Video! Hab den Bausatz auch vor ca. einem halben Jahr gemacht für meinen "111" Tiger. Obwohl ich recht viel recherchiert habe vorher, hab ich wohl doch nicht alles richtig gemacht. Vor allem die Erkenntnis, dass nur die Nebelwerferhalterungen angebracht wurden und nicht die Nebenwerfer selbst hat weh getan, haha. Aber darf ich fragen, woher du die Info hast? Freu mich auf deine Videos zur Bemalung und Alterung!

    • @Tankbrusher

      111 ist einer der ersten vier Tiger, in Volker Ruff Der Tiger Volume 2, S.5 ,,Die Halterungen für die Nebelwurfbecher waren ... angeschweißt aber noch ohne die Wurfbecher ausgeliefert worden". Weiter im Buch sieht man ihn dann später wieder mit Nebelwurfbecher im Januar, die Frontplatte an der Fahrersehklappe ist zu dem Zeitpunkt schon geflickt, ob er aber da schon seinen neuen Turm hat, kann ich gerade nicht sagen. Ich versuche meinen so zu bauen wie er in den ersten zwei Monaten ausgesehen hat.

      Not that I know. This one was delivered from the factory to Fallingbostel's baracks as far as I know. For demonstrations the 3 V-series vehicles are better candidates - not an expert though. In April '42 only V1 was "ready" in April '43 already about 200 vehicles were produced. This one was in the east at that time - therefore I guess this one never was at any birthday presentations for the person in question.
