Cheryl's mother is a whole lot worse and literally abusive. It was also revealed in the show original timeline Penelope is a murderer. I'm not saying 1950s Alice should've slapped her daughter and that slap definitely for a moment crossed the line into abusive mother/daughter territory but all I'm saying is Cheryl's mother in the original timeline was literally the worst, if not even worse than Alice could be at times.

Betty she did the right thing after all standing up to her mother because she was just making up excuses just to control her life and she slap her daughter in the face that’s abuse honestly Alice cooper is the worse mother ever and not just her Cheryl‘s mother is the worse mom too because she her daughter like women and that’s nothing to be a shame of Betty and Cheryl both are are not their mothers they are their own person and I’m I was Betty I was stay with her best friend Veronica
