In this Rhino Grasshopper tutorial, we will model a series of shape-changing elements which can be used as a parametric roof. First, we will define 3 points and by changing the location of the points we can make a polyline. We will use the tween curve component to produce the middle curves and then we will thicken them by using offset and extrude to model the parametric roof elements. Finally, we can bake the elements in Rhino and use them in our projects. Download the Example file💾 bit.ly/2J0ZUVp New to Grasshopper❓ Watch this Playlist ua-cam.com/users/playlist?list... As a carpenter can you make a cut list with all the exact lengths, compound mitre angles and exact positions to mark on a wall plate and ridge? Without this I can't build your roof. Lovely work though man!
Hello, awesome tutorial!!! I tried doing this however when i add a plane to ensure that the lines offset in the same direction the plane turns red and the offset disappears. Any idea how this can be solved?
brilliant video! the only suggestion would be to slow it down just a bit, some Mac commands are different and so it takes a bit of time to sort it out...but all in all, another great piece!
Excellent video but i have a little problem. When I add the 2 curves to loft, it turns red and says that "loft only works if all curves are open, or all curves are closed". I have everything just like yours i don't see where is my mistake.
Hey, I am a recent user of grasshopper. Your videos are amazing and very informative. However, when I tried making a simple hip roof with all the rafters, purlins and battens, completely on grasshopper I was facing some difficulties and could draft. I would request if it is possible for you just try a hip roof and show it to us. Or you can even share the file so that we can see for ourselves. I have been seeing your basic grasshopper videos as well but still faced some difficulties. Thanks a lot :)
I am basically trying to make a plugin for myself similar to 10001 bit tool for SketchUp , in which it becomes easier for me to make roofs with a single click rather than coding it everytime I want to use
can you specift points locations relative to each other with some constraints in grasshopper ? like polyline is this three points but one point is always some distance from another in specific direction with a parameter
If the two polylines are in the same plane then the tween curves will actually divide the distance equally and you can use list item + distance to extract the distance
I can´t download the file, when the link is loading appears a notification to confirm that Im human, I have tried from different devices and its the same thing, do you have problems? Thank you for your tutorials!

Yeah sure! Define that with maybe moving the relative point with a vector ....
how do you get the gumball at the beginning please let me know I am not getting the gumball
How Is It possible to calculate the distance beetwen two consecutive pieces if You want that the extrusion on y axis Is just that distance ?
If the two polylines are in the same plane then the tween curves will actually divide the distance equally and you can use list item + distance to extract the distance
