It seems obvious that although the families of the victims need to read their feelings, it gives the killers an opportunity to inflict even more horror on the families. If someone in my family was shot dead, there is no way I would even want to see the murderer...let alone read a statement and see the killers smile or hear any words.

I stopped watching for that reason. I shouldn't even have clicked on it in the first place. Morbid curiosity is a bad thing. It's a big part of the psychopath's psychological diet. They know that even from prison they'll be able to continue inflicting horror due to videos like this.

Losing a loved one violently is also a death sentence for the rest of the family. The trauma involved is so high, the brain has to come up with a way to cope with such pain. Believe it or not, as bad as it is, any type of closure is better than none. Even if the murderer is remorseless and smug about it.

I know in some places they have a small enclosed booth, I believe they should all have that, I'm amazed that they still let some people sit with no cuffs, they should sit cuffed in an enclosed booth with headphones to hear and a switch for the people in the court room to only hear yes or no, and I agree and in my opinion there would be no statement by the killer that would help in the victims healing process, they should learn then and there that they are no longer a member of free society.

They are visible in advance, maybe we need to ask why so many heads in the sand?!
What planet do people live on?? Oh yes, the center of the Earth.. I see that now. We have the knowledge available to us now & it is wide spread.
Dr. Hugh Missildine wrote a book in 1963 that addresses childhood trauma and its effect on ppl's lives. Some of us go on to help others. The truth is: I could have gone either way. I am glad I took my childhood torture and used it to help people.
My mothers goal was to push me to suicide before I could tell her dirty secrets... she killed my sister. I nour house it wasn't safe to love ANYTHING, including each other.
Have I dreamed of revenge.. Yes. I am however better than that.
I will not waste another minute of time on that thought, or any thought of the monster who birthed me.
*Fun fact for the general public: Think before you speak when someone says their childhood was beyond one's imagination. STOP denying us!! Denial is fuel for rage.

All that still exists today. Protect yourself, your loved ones from the pull of greed, money, selling poison to those in the grip of addiction, the Mafia and mayhem they created. Yes I agree - no clothing that sends signals to others or words to that effect, which are intimidating or cruel. One way this could be enforced is no such clothing is allowed in court proceedings and if so, someone will wear county prison attire and nothing more. If writing is put on it, it is defacing public property and they will be removed from the courtroom, charged with additional crime for that.

You are commenting about their own reaction of smiling which is a way to protect themself and appear tough as they will be sent to prison. It is very strange you expect a person on trial to admit to anything and everything the judge or prosecutor asks. It takes a special kind of killer to remain stoic when the sentence is proclaimed. The smile on their face and their comments are designed to give credit in prison, where no one will protect them from the other inmates. The only thing they have left to control is their mind and body. They know it and cannot deal with it.

    • @djg5950

That would result in a mistrial and they would have to start all over again with a different lawyer. The court may be able to apply sanctions on any lawyer that does this. It's unethical and maybe against the law. The court may be be able to apply contempt of court charges on the lawyer. I don't think this has ever happened but if it has there maybe a record of the out come. Defense lawyers agree to defend a client to the best of their ability regardless if they think the defendant guilty or just hate the guy for his actions or attitude. Even these non-humans have a right to a defense against the crimes they are charged with.
