I don't know if you're still taking suggections but if you're looking for a lighter toned anime you shloud check out "bofuri" (it's an abreviation as the show's name is very long). The story revolve around a teenage girl and her best friend playing a VRMMORPG (they basicaly enter the game world) so they fight monster, players and explores (it's mainly funny but the fights aren't bad ).

    Love the casual misunderstanding of:

    "No I am an undead."
From Ainz's perspective he was just correcting a categorization error on Nimble's part, however from his point of view the exchange was:

See this is what I was thinking when Luke was talking about the hypothetical skeleton mother. Isn't Ainz fairly chill for an undead overlord? If I understand the lore right, actual overlords are pretty much pure evil and just kill the ever-loving bejesus out of everything, nevermind this trying to looking after a motley assortment of demons, vampires, elves, and one very memorable succubus, trying to make alliances with human kingdoms, or forbidding your subordinates from killing and torturing innocent people purely for fun.

She died due to overworking herself, he found her dead while she was making his favourite food for him. Btw food was rare in ainz's original world, most people ate nutritional paste that was disgusting only the ultra rich could afford real food. Maybe it was censored in the anime but in the novel after all the plat plat plat I expected to see a sea of blood, since the soldiers being crushed by the dark shoots would be as if they were crushed by a hydraulic press, causing them to be " "squeezed" since the battle takes place on a hard ground and organs and blood should be scattered.

The reason Marquis Raeven was standing still in that shot was becouse his horse was so afraid it couldn't even move. The priest from the former adventurers team had to cast anti-fear spell on it.
The Dark Young (the tentacle thing Ainz summoned) are level 95 monsters that due to the sound of goats they are making, were called "Goats" by the people of the New World. No need to say that when you hear that army of 240,000 was defeated by "Goats" no one would believe it. Also, in the book, there is a whole page dedicated to single word after these Goats were summoned, that word is Splat.
About Ainz's mother... That hurts man. When Ainz was still a child in our world, his mother worked herself to death. After work she came home to make him a birthday cake and died while doing it. Ainz literarlly found his mother dead on his birthday.

Twin Maximise Magic Chain Dragon Lightning is 7th tier magic that Narberal Gamma used against Khajit and his two Skeletal Dragons. If you pack people in a row, I think it should be able to kill 3-4K people.
All in all, there is a huge disparity in destructive power of spells. Ainz' spell Black Hole from the first season is speculated to be anywhere from 8th tier to 10th tier, but it hasn't been confirmed. Since Ainz specialises in instant death magic, I wouldn't be surprised for it to be a single target attack. The context of Nimble's question at 20:55 is this:
"Are you a demon?!" = "Are you one of these beings who enjoy killing and tormenting others for pleasure?"
"Do not be mistaken. I am an undead!" = "No, I am one of these who despise the living for no reason in particular." (Undead are thought to be like that, though Ainz is different. Still, that's how the guy interpreted it.)
Also, your comment in 26:40 is very accurate: he literally sees everyone as ants (and they indeed are like that to him), and he does need a mom to tell him to not do that. Unfortunately, his "mom" (comrades) aren't around, and everyone around him praises him for every single thing he does, including frying ants with a magnifier, and even incentives that behavior, so... not happening, I guess.

Remember how Jircniv was concerned that Fluder betrayed them because dismissing him outright would let other countries think they would suddenly have a chance at invading his empire?
Fluder was the equivalent of nuclear dissuasion. And now they see something that surpasses him by several orders of magnitude.

Like, imagine you're a warrior in ancient mediterranean history sometime around like republic of Rome or the greek city states fighting against the persians: the biggest, most scary thing you've ever seen on the battlefield are chariots or war elephants. So you prepare countertactics, you think you got an idea of what's coming and how you can deal with it ... until suddenly an armoured division of modern main battle tanks (M1 Abrams, Leclerc, Challenger 2, Leopard 2, K2, Type 10, Merkava, T-90, take your pick) roll over the hills. There is one big problem with the kingdom. They are generally very uneducated and behind in terms of magic. They do not have any institutes or schools where they study/teach it. Therefore, no one in the kingdom’s army really understood WHAT Ainz was casting. However...the magic that Ainz used was unlike anything they had ever seen...magic from legends. Marquis Raven is smart and educated enough to realize this and order a retreat. However, communication in such a large army is slow, so one of the flanks went on the attack and Ainz chose them as a target. And of course... Ainz's magic left everyone in shock... so the retreat was, to put it mildly... belated.
As for the spell itself. This is literally a chant used by cultists from Lovecraft's to summon outer gods. Shub-Niggurath the black goat of the forests, with a thousand young. What Ainz summoned are literally the “children” of this ancient god, real Eldritch abominations. 3D graphics do not fully convey the horror that these creatures must inspire, just looking at them should drive mere mortals insane. In the gaming sense, these level 90 monsters, without special abilities, but with high health and defense, were usually summoned to be used as a meat shield. In the New World however... they are walking disasters. Again, the carnage they caused...this episode doesn't do it justice. I recommend looking for fan art of these creatures, they are much more terrifying when not in the form of 3D models.

normally the kingdom, when it goes to war, puts up a simple fence wall around the army, to make clear where the boarder of the army is, protect from flanking/cavalary etc (the whole empire army is usually full on only cavalry soldiers 30~60k, depending how many they fielded any given year) the army this time was several times bigger then what they ever fielded before, which made it impracticable for them to do the fence perimeter, so they just simply used thin lines of spearman for that to make boarders around their camps, with tighly packed infantry troops in the center. very tightly packed formations.
only a few elite troops were cavalry.
the empire has a heavily fortified castrum in the katzer plaines from which they operated from - a roman style fort - a very big one (able to house all those 60k soldiers with still way room to spare for more), for which the kingdom had no idea how to deal with with their peasant army.
the kingdoms army's formation was so tightly packed that they were completely unable to move at all and were 100% setup for a defensive war, because thats how it always turned out in the previous "wars".
they set up camp, defensively. the empire would parade their troops around in front of em and then fuck off and waste a lot of time for the kingdom. there would be a few flanking battles happen - small shit, and then everyone would just leave, hardly anyone ever died in those fights.
was just all about wasting time for the kingdom, to make em loos out on their harvest time and such - the empire was slowly starving the kingdom to death.

Ainz likes Gazef, and he didnt want to see him die to petty Noble quarrels. the main reason Gazef almost died in S1 is because he did not have any of the Kingdom's national treasures aka enchanted armor and sword, and the reason he didnt have them on was because the nobles didnt like him (a commoner) using it or something along those lines

time for answering questions as the overlord shows the world what he can do.
4:28 The Kindom’s Army of 240,000 is made mostly of peasant Levies with minimal training, while the Empire of Baharuth’s smaller army of 60,000 is made of trained knights whose only job is to fight. This is why the Empire’s strategy up till now has been to simply threaten invasion and engage in some skirmishes every year. Forcing the kingdom to come to defend themselves with a large force of peasant soldiers, means fewer workers in the farms and villages and that will weaken the Kingdom over time without the empire having to do much, but Ainz has changed that calculation.
6:45 yes both the king and his faction thought they were protecting the life of the prince by sending him on the errand to Carne village… but it didn’t exactly turn out that way did it.
8:10 yeah the CGI here may be a bit clunky, but it is just genuinely very hard to animate thousands upon thousands of characters at once in any scene. Its one of the things that is just very hard to do in animated form and Overlord does it about as well as any show out there.
10:12 The adventurers seemed to be able to sense something, but the preparation of super-tier magic seemed to have been enough to alert Gazef and Raven that they were facing something beyond their worst expectations. (even if they didn’t fully understand it)
11:00 The expression of the empire guy looks fairly neutral to me here, though he definitely freaks out later, and could have simply been bracing himself for witnessing a large loss of life
11:12 orders take some time to get around an army that big and the commander on the left was particularly aggressive
13:30 They are definitely in shock right now
14:40 well they do go “bahh” like goats/ sheep that’s kind of cute right? As long you ignore that they are monstrosities…

A little note to Luke about how the word duel works in real life (medieval time) and here - 1 vs 1 combat with set of rules and conditions set and agreed to by both sides. So basically each side can set the conditions and "prizes" and if both sides agree upon those, duel starts.
For example: fight to the death or non-lethal duel, reward for the winner, some conditions for 2nd party do to in order for 1st party to agree to a duel, etc.
Long story short, duel is a more aggressive but civilized type of negotiations, where you can negotiate the conditions in your favor...

I recently found your channel and I can say that you are one of the people who adds more enjoyment to the content you watch.
I found you by re-checking Overlord and seeing your reaction videos.
Overlord holds a special meaning for me. Especially this episode. Because it greatly altered the course of my life.
Funny how a seemingly random novel series can do for someone. When I first watched Overlord If was just airing and there was no season 2 or 3 chance to air at all since it was made by an infamous studio called Madhoue who knows with not making sequels. This series being my first series with a non-bullshit character who is also self-oriented was very refreshing among many shounen series I really started to hate.
And I heard a spoiler about this episode (from novel readers) where Ainz killed close to 200k people. It made my fears go away about Ainz becoming a generic character later on. I also really wanted to read and see it for myself. But there was a problem of me not knowing anywhere near enough English to read it. But my passion for seeing the content led me to force myself - a person who doesn't read books at all - to read a novel series in a language that I can't read.
Although It was very hard at the beginning and took me a few months, later when I reached the 9th book which includes this episode I read the whole book in a day, which I needed to read 20+ hours to finish at my pace at the time.
By the end of the series, I was good enough to look and search for even more novels and web novels since I could read and the content was so much better in the web novels no censor, no skips, and no budget for animation hence cutting even more content.
Instead of studying medicine or law like my parents wanted to force me (Classic Asian parent logic I guess), I read more and more books and got into self-improvement. Developed many skills thanks to learning English and all the content on the internet. Got into college in a field I wanted. It was the beginning step of a great journey for me.
When you said that you wanted to maybe read the novel later on a few episodes ago, I thought about my journey with the novels. I believe If you were to give it a chance even if you normally don't like to read books, odds are you are going to like it. Compared to novel anime quality is way lover. Anime is more like the speedrun of the novel. Just skips many things and details and gives a watered-down experience. Especially seasons 3 and 4 are like that. Season 4 is even cut in the middle. They cut the longest 2 books to make a movie. These are the books I liked the most after book along with books 9 and 10.
You might even make a UA-cam series after you read the books to share your experience like reviews which I would like to see your take on it. I wish you a great day :)

About the difference in number. The Empire uses a professional army. They may be only 60k, but all of them are professional soldiers, trained and well equipped. The Kingdom uses levies. The 240k are mostly farmers with little to no training. Many of them would only have farming tools as weapons, the Kingdom can't even equip them all.
So even without Ainz, the Kingdom wouldn't really hold much of an advantage.

09:58 "I'm guessing they can sense the magic."
They can't really, but the casting of the spell itself already makes such a grand display that they know something is off.
You can vaguely estimate the strength of a spell by the size of the magic circle created during the casting.
And this surpasses everything they've seen before by a lot.
For reference, they directly know of magic up to seventh tier (Fluder Paradine), and know that in theory it can go to tenth-tier.
Ainz is going to use super-tier here, which a huge step above tenth-tier.
This is like people who know explosives like TNT watching a nuke go off for the first time.

So an undead in the world of Overlord is a "machine" hating everything that is alive, is driver by pure hatred and desire to kill with no need to rest. Now imagine all of that with the power that Momonga has. LOL. Regular people are DOOMED.

However, i personally think that Ainz does not need to worry about Gazef's loyalty. He is confident that Gazef cannot do shit to him and Nazarick. Ainz wants Gazef simply because he likes and respects Gazef. He is a collector, after all. Like how he was a little disappointed when he could not bring back the item that was used to control Nphirea, his collector self disliked that.

Hey, nice reaction once again. I'll keep this comment rather short. I've got an headache and I don't feel like writing too much, so I'll only adress the important questions/part.
1- When they started talking about fleeing, they weren't only acting on feelings. They were able to see the magic circles, and all of them knew those weren't your basic rank 5 spell, the magic circles were way too big and way too complicated. Most people can't see mana with their eyes, but the magic circles are visible themselves.
2- The reason so many people weren't retreating is extremely simple : insubordination. That noble wanted to make a name for himself so, without listening to anything, he gave the signal to charge and f the general's orders. Oh, and by the way, he never really received orders, he didn't wait for them, which is even worse than going against them. He got what he deserved.
3- I'm sorry to contradict you, but those baby goats are actually little. They are baby after all. The adults are at least 5 time that size. Well, according to the lore, they weren't seen in the game after all. But they are baby nonetheless, and baby are small.
4- I think that scene was way more powerful in the light novel. If I remember correctly, that massacre was written on 6 pages. I would love to look it up to make sure, but my light novels are at my family's house since I'm kind of short on space, so I'll have to explain it from memory. The funny thing is, in 6 pages, there weren't a lot of words written. Well, that's not true... There weren't a big amount of different words written. There was only one. One words written again and again and again and again. "Splat". It sound stupid, but that simple word written hundreds of times on 6 pages was extremely powerful. It illustrated perfectly how ridiculusly overwhelming that spell was. And if it was written normaly, it would have become rather boring, but no, the author had fun with it. It made illustrations in a way. A square of "splat" was a squadron of soldiers trampled like ants, a line on the side was a baby goat running on fleeing soldiers, things like that over and over again. You could feel the despair and the hopelessness of the situation. There is only one other medium that made me feel something as strongly as the Light Novel here, it was one scene in the manwa Solo Leveling. A scene the anime adapted well, but couldn't give it justice at all because the medium couldn't permit it.
5- Well... Ainz's mother died when he was pretty young. She worked herself to death to feed them. Sp no, there is no mother to stop him.

11:59 The reason why Ainz seems so sad is not because people are about to die. Ainz said before that he purposely set himself as a 'bait'. He purposely use a flashy spell with long chant time to see if there's other "Player" just like him on Kingdom side, since if there is one, then they definitely know what Magic Ainz will do and will move and attack to interrupt the spell. But since nobody coming, he can ascertain that there is no player there. He just feel disappointed (or lonely) after that realization.

Shub Niggurath. "The Black Goat in the Woods With a Thousand Young." Courtesy of the Cthulhu Mythos. [Remember that Call of Cthulhu is the most popular Tabletalk RPG in Japan, so many people did know what was coming with that announcement. These are straight out of the standard portrayal of them in that game.] Quite adorable little puppies indeed.
In the light novel the excitement that Momonga takes in being able to summon five of them is a definite reversion to the gamer in him (the previous record in Yggsdrasil being three) that isn't as apparent in the anime (again because of the medium we are not as privy to his internal thoughts - we just see what everyone else sees). The actual horror of the summoning being entirely lost on him in the moment (aided by his emotion suppression field). They are just computer sprites to him at this point. One of the problems is he often reverts to reflexively solving problems as if he was still in the game. Also note the point that he made that no player from Yggsdrasil was on the other side since they would never have allowed the construction of the magic circle for the ritual without attempting to interfere. Pure gamer at this point.

The kingdom army is not a unified body. There multiple corps each led by a different noble, with various degrees of strategic wisdom.
The one advancing there is led by an overconfident noble who wouldn't believe that there is a reason to fear a single spell caster.

Here is the one thing you're kind of overlooking.
Even if you chose to betray him there is nothing you could do.
There is no threat you can pose to Ainz.
There is no chance of rebellion.
No one is going to rise up and usurp his throne.
His Dominion is as certain and as cold as death.
He is the ruler of death, he is the absolute Overlord. Gazef was an interesting individual that he would like to have work for him.

Something notable is that the Dark Young in the novel are much smaller but simultaneously much much faster than the show made them appear. Their tentacles are described as whipping around faster than sight turning the soldiers they hit into blood mist. the ground was so muddied with blood that no dry dirt was visible.
This is one of the reasons people aren't a fan of the animation this season. Scenes like this which are decribed in great detail are adapted to be a barren hilly plain with giant creatures that move 'slowly.'

Who the "four that cannot be killed" are hasn't been stated for certain in the novels. The only ones that have been confirmed out of the four are Climb and Gazef, but that still leaves two others.
Based on who is in that army at that time, my personal best guess is that the two others are the King(Ramposa III) and Marquis Raeven.
The king makes sense because of the plans Nazarick has for the kingdom.
As for Raeven, I believe it is because Ainz was informed about some of Demiurge and Albedo's plans regarding him in relation to the kingdom.
Similarly, even though Ainz doesn't know a lot of the plans of Demiurge and Albedo, he was still informed about Renner and some other things.
The reason for that is that even though Demiurge and Albedo believe that Ainz has incredible plans, they are don't assume him to know about specific people and things above which Ainz would have had no information on. They instead expect Ainz to have planned ahead with many variations of plans and expect Ainz to have planned for the possibility of the presence of skilled individuals that can be useful either as allies or pawns in his plans for the kingdom. As such, they report about the people they find that they feel would be what Ainz would be looking for in his great wisdom.
They are convinced that Ainz is a genius, but they don't think that Ainz is omniscient. They think he plans for all eventualities and for the unknown, but they understand that for such plans to go beyond the planning phases, they need information and intelligence reports. They thus give those reposts and information to Ainz.
That is why I believe that the other two beside Climb and Gazef to be the king Ramposa III and marquis Raeven.

Especially Raeven as he went out of his way to learn magic unlike most nobles who look down on magic in the Kingdom due to various that the LN explains. But because of this very knowledge, he knows that no magic ever produces magical runes in the air like super-tier magic. On top of trust Gazef's judgement and being pretty wise, he knows the unknown is the most terrifying thing.

10:55 "Why'd this person seem so sad" Nimble is an Imperial knight. He has some of the honorable and noble qualities one might expect of a knight. He was sad because he was one of a select few on the battlefield somewhat aware of Emperor Jircniv's plans. Like they said at the beginning of the episode, the Empire deliberately asked Ainz to use his "most powerful" magic. This was tactically done to show to the rest of the world the danger he posed. Because there was no way Emperor Jircniv was going to convince the rest of the world that Ainz is dangerous and should form an alliance with him without providing suitable evidence. Ainz attacking at the get-go was that evidence. And then Jircniv hoped a multi-nation allied resistance would naturally rise up and form to fight back without having to directly get his hands dirty and angering Nazarick if they found out. This was the desired outcome.
Normally, before Ainz and Nazarick appeared, these frequent war conflicts between the Empire and the Re-Estize kingdom were very minor. They'd have some fights, waste time (part of Jircniv's strategical slow war of attrition against the kingdom), and the casualties weren't very high on either side. However, for this battle, Jircniv believed that Ainz would manage to kill somewhere around three thousand soldiers. So Nimble was aware that Ainz's opening spell was going to kill lots of people. They wouldn't have a chance. So he was sorry for what are mostly conscripted Re-Estize citizens (regular people who were just farmers or laborers and forced to fight) being sacrificed like lambs to Ainz to hopefully warn the world of how dangerous Ainz is. So there is some regret and pity there.
Of course, Jircniv was very wrong in his estimate and Nimble watched what he also assumed would only be a few thousand dead soldiers become 70k dead in an instant, with thousands more crushed under the feet of some adorable baby goats.
Also, Gazef and Raeven's forces were in the beginning stages of retreat (the limitations of the animation failed to depict this much). Word of the retreat was only just beginning to spread within their particular forces (the soldiers directly under each of them). The other noble factions in the Re-Estize kingdom were not retreating yet because 1) they were too ignorant or proud to see the danger of Ainz's magic to make that call independently on their own. And 2) the message from Raeven (who was in charge of the entire army) to retreat can only move so fast when it must be delivered by mouth by a messenger. Even as Gazef and Raeven were declaring a retreat, everything was happening pretty fast around them. Ainz basically gave them a minute, acting as a decoy, just to see if any Yggdrasil Players like him were among the armies. Since he believes any game Player would have the proper game knowledge to know they had to attack anyone casting high tier magic first as a must for survival. So just as Gazef and Raeven were declaring a retreat, that thick noble on horseback was already charging. Then Ainz released his magic. Everyone died in an instant on that side of the army. Then the Dark Young summoning started. This all happening in about a minute, no more than two minutes.
Gazef, Raeven, and the ex-adventurers had the proper context to know that Ainz's spell was insanely powerful and dangerous. They might not know the true power of the spell, but had the proper worldly and battle experience to gauge what they had previously known as "a strong spell" was a molehill in comparison to the mountainous magic Ainz was casting. They knew anything of that size and complexity was something they could never hope to match. Everyone else on the Re-Estize side just perceived it as "a really strong spell" and somewhat unnerving, but lacked the context of what a strong spell in their world was before Ainz rolled up.
As for the lack of running away in the face of the Dark Young/baby goats formation and then march... To be honest, if you were seeing something so horrible and surreal as a giant black orb growing in the sky, then collapsing to the ground before it absorbs your fallen comrades. Only to then see tentacles and mountain-sized horrors that are beyond your worst nightmares grow from it all, I could understand if a human stops dead in his tracks like a deer in headlights. You are seeing something never seen before, that defies all reason, all while overwhelmed by terror. Lots of soldiers tend to seize up and become paralyzed despite being in the middle of a dangerous battlefield. Thoughts simply refuse to process what is being witnessed and some people are too scared and confused to move. It's kind of like when people stop to stare up at a volcano erupting, or if something crazy like giant alien spacecraft appeared in the sky, or some other grand event never witnessed before, whether personally or in all of history. Even if you have never seen a volcano erupt before, or don't even know what a volcano can do, you still have the instincts to know its bad. You have the impression you are in mortal danger, but you can't help but stop to stare at something incomprehensible and outside the norm. So yeah, it's stupid and everyone should be running, but, in the moment, people are overwhelmed when faced with the unknown and fear.

The entire battle seems simplistic but it’s two fold, one is to show the kingdom (and the wider world) what comes from refusing to come to the negotiating table in good faith and to re enforce to the empire this could have been your fate if you hadn’t immediately sought out ainz to beg for mercy.
The empire still didn’t grasp just how universally misunderstood the power gap between the various factions are. Ainz was fully aware of the empires plot to “unify” the benign states against him. So as a show he did exactly what the emperor asked for, ainz released an unforgettable spell that devastated the morale of everyone, whilst acting as a signal to any potential players out in the world.
