Both shots are lovely but I prefer the 2nd one. The light on the rocks seems to carry your eye through the whole scene, first from front then to back. In the 1st photo your eye goes straight to the light over the distant mountains and the foreground rocks are almost irrelevant.

At 11:56 I prefer photo #1. Although #2 has a very dramatic sky, so does #1 and you can't beat those beautiful colors!
Another winner of a video Ian. You are truly blessed to live somewhere where you have such amazing landscapes and woodlands.
Stunning photos and great video content, as always!

    Well done.
'Juxtaposition' come to mind. I've got a shot of my wife in a chair in our hotel room (bottom left) looking through the floor to celling glass window (in front of her) at the Niagara Horseshoe Falls (all of the right). My wife, the location / windows and the falls created the juxtapositions which made the shot. Take away one of them and it would have been a 'dime a dozen' postcard.

Of the 2 photos I prefer number 2. You have another photo at about 12:50 and I like that one better as the ridge being lit up takes the eye naturally from front to back.

For me it was no. 2 as I felt the darker clouds added a dramatic element that really adds mood to the impressive mountain scenery. Great images from a beautiful land, and excellent tips as always.

In your #1 vs. #2 photos at 12:00, I really like the warmth of light on the foreground and mountains. It would be interesting to see what a blend adding in some of the colors of the sky and mountain tops in #1 to photo #2 would look like. Could be just me but I'm feeling a sense that you are much more relaxed and focused these days. The switch to full time I think must have been a good move.

Image #2, Ian. As someone else said, we see too many sunrises. #2 is more atmospheric. Wonderful images throughout, and have seen Henry‘s content too, taken with his Sony p/s!
