I think it's so cool of you to show what's really going on instead of just saying nothing and then doing a pretty before and after with the occasional anecdote of how stressful it was thrown in. This is so much more real. Hang in there, it will all be worth it. xx
People who have never done such an extensive renovation are clearly the ones asking what is taking so long. Between the pandemic, supply chain issues, availability and cost of certain products, etc etc its going to take time. You also never know what you will come across with such an extensive renovation that adds cost and time. So I mean having started in January 2020 is actually not bad considering all that has happened. I want it done right. They are privileged to have other housing options so it will be done when its done.
@@NoOneHere2Day I actually hadn’t watched the whole video before commenting smart ass but those are the issues everyone who has been doing reno work, including myself, have been dealing with since the pandemic.
Like technically you don’t owe anyone an explanation, it’s your home. Kudos for taking time out to film and go into details for the inquisitive viewers
Brendan you should get into interior design, you're doing some amazing things with this place. I love the bathroom garbage idea! It's all in the details. Can't wait to see the end result.
Now I don’t feel too bad about my backyard. We started doing work the first week of April and it’s now end of July . 4 months of delays due to the weather, the war, the pandemic, inflation, labor/man power shortage, change orders due to out of stock. Waited 2 weeks for cement and now we are waiting 7 weeks for stone coming from Italy, and light fixtures wait is 5 months!! I decided to accept it and not stress about it. I’ll enjoy my backyard next year…. Right now I’m just grateful for my family and the opportunity to even have this projects going on, even with all the issues and delays…. I still count it as a blessing. Good luck to you and stay safe… trust the timing.
oh my goodness yes, a tree fell on my mom's house in 2020, it's still not done! From lumber shortage and surge to workers bailing, it definitely takes twice as long and costs twice as much. Thanks for sharing a glimpse into the reality of renovating and your journey. I always look forward to your vids and enjoy your optimism and positivity despite non-ideal circumstances. It definitely reminds me to be grateful and motivated.
I’m just excited for you guys! To see the end result! And the best part is that you’ll see this as part of you guy’s journey, and see the struggles and the breakdown of the whole renovation and be happy that you guys made that choice, I know it’s crazy to think it’s taking long time, and etc but you’ll be living in you guys dream home and be so happy, all this will just be a nice and struggling memory, and talking to your kid about it. It’s just nice and like you said y’all are happy that what counts and seen the positive of this whole situation. That’s what counts and makes it better. I’m pretty sure we’re here for the end result.
I bought my house 13 years ago.... before I moved in I employed contractors to rewire, plaster all the rooms, put in a new bathroom and boiler. These contractors were all recommended to me, but the workmanship by each contractor was so poor I had to bring people in to patch up/redo the work. I'm still traumatised by the stress of it all, I vowed that I'm never ever ever doing a renovation ever again. Brendan thankyou for sharing the honesty of your renovation people on Instagram doing renovations ARE LIARS!! Your home will be beautiful when it's eventually finished. All that matters is that your family is together under one roof & safe. 🥰
Thanks for the update. I really hope after the hassle and blood sweat and tears, it will be well worth it, and your “forever home.” It’s always interesting to see people renovate, only to then upgrade 5 years later. Hope everything will be on the up and up and run smoothly or as smooth as possible going forward. Sounds like it’s been quite the rollercoaster.
Brendan, thank you for the update. Living in NYC having a father and brother that were in the business allows me to understand what you are going through. My brother was a lot like you and he renovated my house. He was so gifted. Sadly my brother was physically hurt in a accident renovating the church that burned on 23rd Street. I look forward to seeing the finish product when everything is done in your home. Luckily you have a wonderful and patient wife.
We started our 1st floor renovation right before the pandemic lockdown in march 2020 and it was supposed to be finished in 4 months and we are still not done almost 3 years later! I hear your pain and this is definitely a test of patience
My last renovation was 6 years ago and I experienced some of the same frustrations. I do think people mean well but it is hard when hearing the same questions over and over. Thanks for sharing with us, it will be beautiful when it’s completed 🇨🇦😍
As an architect I appreciate your transparency with these people in the comments because I know how stressful something like 6 inches can effect a whole design. I love your nit pickiness though and you can afford it so why not get what you want? I enjoy watching the renovation because it’s honest. You could’ve just waited until it was all done and gave us a big reveal but just like anything you guys do you bring us along the whole way. I appreciate it. It’s gonna pay off in the long run. Yall gon have the flyest apartment in the city! And I HOPE YALL GET IN AD OMG THAT’D BE AMAZING.
I’m exhausted just listening to you explain all the work that still has to be completed 😮💨 lol. It’s coming along beautifully though! Can’t wait to see the final reveal.
Our Miami home reno took a year, in 2015!!! We were going to renovate again at the top of this year (gut and add another level). The architect said expect this to take 18 months, her assistant laughed. The contractor said 18 months after permitting and it doesn’t count fixtures and cabinetry. This isn’t HGTV!
Even in HGTV, we see a timeline where kids were toddlers when it started and house is presented with Barbie and Toy car rooms to near teenagers.😅 It’ll finish when it finishes. People will be fine.
Brendan, thanks for the update on your home's renovation. I can't believe that you took so much time to explain things in such a respectful manner even though I'm certain that you don't always get that back. So, I thank you. I appreciate all of the attention to detail. Take your time and do what will make you and Hannah and by extension Preston happy. The viewers are along for the ride, even those that complain. Keep doing you. 🙂🙋♀️
I only got about ten minuets in and my head hurt. Its going to look amazing and you will be so thankful you did it right. Good luck and I for one can't wait to see you all moved in and living a happy family life in there. The end is in sight.
My bf and i renovated our house and time frame was maybe 9 months. Took 3 years...i feel your pain...for everyone else commenting they must just not live in the real world...things take time, and the amount of detail and the vision you have going on it takes alotttttaaa time. Looks great though, i love everything and those mirrors are going to just make that place hit!
I work have been working in the contract furniture world for 30 plus years and it has never been as bad as it now . Not enough workers in all the trades , and manufactures are scrambling to keep workers and to find ways to get parts they need. Just as the Pandemic hit I was in the middle of a six story hospital tower project , to say it was stressful is an understatement. But in the end it worked out . I appreciate that you understand the struggle and the reason your contractor is behind schedule and over budget . Keeping a good attitude is your best defense to a successful outcome . Wishing you the best on this journey.
It's very gracious of you to care enough to explain... Anyone who is questioning the time of completion, had been living in an alternate reality. Construction projects without a Global Pandemic are difficult, production delays and inflation has taken it to a whole new level, your patience is admired. It's going to be fabulous 🤩
Your attention to detail is magnificent. I'm sure you'll be twice as happy you caught every detail you wanted before settling for a *quickly done and constantly fixing home* and instead will have a perfect dream home.
We’re neck deep in our (mostly DIY) renovations, and I hear you! At the tip of the iceberg, nothing is in stock, wait times are insane and no one is even available to do work/labor! We wanted to do so much, but unfortunately everything is at least 3 times the price than “it used to be”, especially labor. But, we’re getting there, just rutted the laundry room, and put in new flooring, plus we got 3 new exterior doors and storm doors installed! Everything is fantastic, totally worth the wait and hard work. Ask the dog, he’s thrilled with his doggy door :)
I can so relate to the struggle. I just finished my house in Sonoma County in CA. We started plans and land design on 38 acres 2.5 years ago. Your house looks absolutely amazing! I also grew up in constant renovations in every house I lived in. I like to think it made me able to build my house from scratch, P will have grit and perspective because of it! Look at dwell soon for our house :) I love your videos and content!
Gosh. the labor of love put into this home is going to make it so much sweeter to live in. all of this work is going to pay off when you're watching your son grow up here!!
We decided to completely forgo kitchen renovation in 2021 because of the lead time. They told us 6-8 months for the kitchen cabinets we wanted! We're going to wait until 2023-24 to possibly kickstart reno again. I can feel your pain.
Brendan: Wondering if you would ever remodel again to such a degree?!? It'll be absolutely breathtaking once you are finished - but holy smokes what a PROJECT!
Idc how long this Reno take I’m invested shid been invested for years! If we’re watching the final reveal and lil P’s preschool graduation in 1 video, I’ll be here watching and liking the video before it begin! Thanks for sharing
We have been working on our house since 2002. We are doing the majority of the work ourselves and paying for it as we go. We have touched just about every area of the house. I totally understand and sympathize.
Wow Brendan.....you're pretty calm for having all this on your mind! Covid definitely has impacted the work at your place and you have no choice but just keep going. It will be awesome when you're done so I guess you just should keep that thought! 👍
Although it is taking a long time to complete your home, most people may not have the time, resources or financial means to wait for their primary home to go through such a long renovation. You and your family work hard and play hard as well so you make it look so easy. thanks for the updates on the home and I cant wait to see the results.
Thank you for the updates. It’s a lot of patience and coordination. You guys are doing great. It would so cool to see your place on Architecture Digest. I love getting pits of Preston talking. So cute!
I wish things in this great country of ours would get back to normal soon! I work for a large auto insurance company and it's been a nightmare trying to get our customers vehicles repaired because of body shop labor shortages and the shops difficulty getting parts! We have a lot of unhappy customers having to drive vehicles with cosmetic damages around while they wait for the shops to be able to get them in. **My advise to anyone reading this is, drive carefully to avoid having this happen to you! We have so many people that just don't pay attention, many of whom are distracted by their cell phones. Too many rear-end collisions these days!** Hopefully your contractors will be able to get what's needed to finish soon and no more surprises, Brendan 🙏🏻.
Brendan, you have no idea how much this video means to me (and probably lots more ppl like me!). I am going through the PAINS of home renovation on my 1845 fixer upper in a historic district and things are DRAGGING. I'm so frustrated with how long things are taking, I'm almost starting to take it personally! This video resonated with me and I'm so grateful you shared all this insight because it can feel lonely/isolating when everyone else around you is saying that renovations only take X long and X amount of dollars. It's home-ownership gaslighting! Thank you for being so real!!!
I just know when it’s done it will be beautiful! People really never know what all goes into these complex projects especially in NYC. It’ll really come together in due time. Your detailed eye will pay off in the end!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Brendan. We are currently renovating our home and is similarly stuck in the process with lack of supplies. On top of that things around our home are randomly breaking down. So much so that we think our house is haunted. 😂 But it’s refreshing to hear that others are going thru similar frustrations with renovating their homes. Hang in there. Can’t wait to see the finish product. I’m sure it’s going to look amazing.
A lot of grace and patience evident in this update. Reassuring to be reminded as a viewer that everyone deals with obstacles. Wishing you continued in-the-moment peace and happiness. 💜
Brendan - I think it's very insensitive to say people don't want to work. The reality is people don't want to work for wages that are unlivable. I think your statement was out of touch and tone-deaf. Preston is ADORABLE! btw
Brendan, I can say that I admire and appreciate your dedication to this project. I have not experienced in my lifetime a complex and extensive renovation of this type so I could never bring myself to ask 'why is it taking so long'. I will say I can't wait to see it all come together but as you said, details take time. Take your time on what hopefully ends up being your dream apartment in the city. I will be along for the ride to completion.
The only solution to the lighting’s temperature!!! After loosing my mind over lightscaping and color coordinating different sections within an open living room space; library, lounging area, fireplace moodiness I’ve arrived at The Only Solution ==>> an intelligent recessed lighting set up automatic’s managed electronically 1. Early morning - 3k 2. Daytime- 4/5k daylight 3. Afternoon - 3k warm hues 4. Evening - 2.4k warm 😊 Unfortunately the simplistic recessed lights’ switch allows the choice of white’s temperature only once - before the installation Warmest regards!!!
Wow, thanks for explaining all that! I'm so impressed how calm and cool you are about it. At lease time is on your side but I'm still impressed by the $$$ you have to pour into it and to deal with hiccups. I'm glad sharing it with your YT fam was therapeutic. You're wise to be thankful of what you have and the progress made thus far, and how little P has his own space he's enjoying.
Totally makes since the whole delay process. As anxious as we are all to see the finished fantastic space, I am sure you all are as well. Yes, yes, yes to AD featuring the home that would be awesome, and on their UA-cam channel and Open Door with the Fallis Family would be awesome!!
It looks amazing. Can’t wait until all your hard work is done and the end product is beautiful 🤩 and thankfully you can live in it still during construction now.
I understand your home remodel and I"ll continue to pray for speedy finishing results for you and your family. Continue to be the amazing person that you are! #supporter
Under cabinet garbage in the bathroom! You’re a genius. As the owner of a dog who routinely goes through all available garbage cans, I will be stealing this.
I’m sooooo excited to see when it’s done, I’ve been eager and looking for updates since the very first vid but I knew I would take time. I love your attention to details btw.
It's sad when you worry when people you don't personally know don't post a video. Looking forward to sitting down to watch later when I have time. Enjoy this family.
Hey Brendan, I feel your pain - and yes I have survived a renovation in NYC… We temporarily moved 1.5 hrs out of NYC while our Reno was under way… That commute was brutal! One day in the middle of January I learned that my GC had his painters PAINT OVER all my carefully chosen brushed nickel hinges, doorknobs etc. Everything had to be removed, dipped and stripped of paint… Fun times. I can only imagine how much more challenging it must be with the supply chain issues and worker shortages… Hang in there! It’s gonna be beautiful !
wow dude .... thank you for the update......I understand.... I've been following you since early 2020.... only because I follow all vids NYC architecture... and you guys popped.. i loved the space. and have been watching ever since... I;m in manufacturing and our lead times are 36 weeks... hang in... can not wait for the ultra amazing finale.... good luck
Thanks for sharing the struggles of the reno with us, it can't be easy feeling like you have to answer to people who aren't going through it with you. Your place is going to be amazing because you have so carefully crafted it and because you'll have all your loved ones there. You're a great example of patience to all of us!
I’m VERY detailed orientated as well. Don’t feel you have to explain anything to anyone. The ones who know…just know. You guys are super dope btw. Love and light to you✨
Been there done that while pregnant. All I can say is stay positive and enjoy those little moments with Mr.P. Can’t wait to see the final result until then I’ll be watching all the other cool videos.
Wow!! thank you for the update, I grew up in three family homes renovation at the same time madness!! good luck you and your beautiful family you will survive!!
It’ll all be worth it in the end. I love renovating and I can’t wait to see the final product! It looks great so far👌🏾PS love the trash idea in the bath and may steal that for a future project!😂
I agree it takes much longer and cost much more than you expect. We planned the renovation for six months and it took an additional 9 months and the price was twice almost three times as much.
Completely understand! I've never been through a renovation but I can only imagine how these things go. I also appreciate your attention to detail, especially when designing your home. I can't wait to see your home featured in Architectural Digest as I know it's going to be absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing the updates with us!
There is something stunning, appealing, warm, inviting and luxurious about 3000k colour temperature in a home. I don’t think you would go wrong if you chose that.
You have all rights to be anxious it's home when it's ready it'll be ready and I'm happy for you Hannah and Mr P 🍀 it's going to be Beautiful just the way you want it 🍀
All I can say is ugh. Renovation is all about moving from concept to reality and the reality is that what was really challenging before is beyond challenging now. You are beautiful design. You live it. It going to be insanely gorgeous and works of art don’t happen in a minute. Thank goodness for your attention to detail. Preston will grow up in a safe and incredible place. What I’m wondering is what photographer will shoot the piece for AD.
i'm glad people asked because I loved watching this video! hahaha. Keep giving us updates even if they're just therapeutic updates on how things are taking time. O love this!

"No one wants to work" 🙄🙄🙄🙄 says the loaded guy not lifting a damn finger. That deserves a nice f you, my dude.
The only solution to the lighting’s temperature!!!
After loosing my mind over lightscaping and color coordinating different sections within an open living room space; library, lounging area, fireplace moodiness I’ve arrived at The Only Solution ==>> an intelligent recessed lighting set up automatic’s managed electronically
1. Early morning - 3k
2. Daytime- 4/5k daylight
3. Afternoon - 3k warm hues
4. Evening - 2.4k warm
😊
Unfortunately the simplistic recessed lights’ switch allows the choice of white’s temperature only once - before the installation
Warmest regards!!!
Bro your attention to detail is lovely and you’re gonna have an incredible home
Take your time Bro and do it right! We love you guys and the content!
Love this content!! So interesting seeing another persons reno…but I’m sorry for y’all and the long wait
Can’t wait to see the Arch Digest feature. It better be a video on their UA-cam as well!
Your vision is amazing, Brendan! I look forward to seeing the completed renovations in AD!
You are doing the best for you and for your family. Good things take time 😌
It looks amazing. Can’t wait until all your hard work is done and the end product is beautiful 🤩 and thankfully you can live in it still during construction now.
Good luck. I know everything will look amazing when completed.
The final reveal will be EPIC.
I understand your home remodel and I"ll continue to pray for speedy finishing results for you and your family. Continue to be the amazing person that you are! #supporter
I'm glad you are living your life and yeah it takes as long as it takes. Hang in there!
Under cabinet garbage in the bathroom! You’re a genius. As the owner of a dog who routinely goes through all available garbage cans, I will be stealing this.
Preston is happy! See you when you get done. Love the reno content and any content "YOU" decide to share! Waiting patiently! 🙏🏾🙌🏾😘
I’m sooooo excited to see when it’s done, I’ve been eager and looking for updates since the very first vid but I knew I would take time. I love your attention to details btw.
I liked this video. You get to see the back end of what it takes to do a renovation.
Your NYC home is going to be AWESOME 👏.
It's sad when you worry when people you don't personally know don't post a video. Looking forward to sitting down to watch later when I have time. Enjoy this family.
you are amazing!! patience patience more patience- will pay off for sure!! can’t wait to see it when it’s all done!!
I’m enjoying watching the journey and really really excited for the end result 🙌🏽❤️
It will look so Beautiful when it’s done Brendan.
Hello Brendan thanks for the update on your home. Missed seeing Hans 🥰
Omg yes with the bathroom garbage! I love the slide out for it! Genius! 👏👏👏👏
It will all be worth it. Looking good.
"No one wants to work" from the guy who.... what do you do exactly for work?
Wow!! thank you for the update, I grew up in three family homes renovation at the same time madness!! good luck you and your beautiful family you will survive!!
It’ll all be worth it in the end. I love renovating and I can’t wait to see the final product! It looks great so far👌🏾PS love the trash idea in the bath and may steal that for a future project!😂
Great video!!! Sorry that you've both had so many obsticles.
You're making huge progress. Not too much longer now.😊😊
I agree it takes much longer and cost much more than you expect.
You have all rights to be anxious it's home when it's ready it'll be ready and I'm happy for you Hannah and Mr P 🍀 it's going to be Beautiful just the way you want it 🍀
Trust me I’m an architect, go with the warm lights 3000volume! Fallis fam can thank me later. Good luck with construction good design takes time!
We’ve been renovating our villa for almost 2 years and now $4m over budget so I get it. Will complete in Oct! It’s worth it
All I can say is ugh.
I feel you. Renovations are not easy. Just dealing with dust is enough!!!
i'm glad people asked because I loved watching this video! hahaha. Keep giving us updates even if they're just therapeutic updates on how things are taking time. O love this!
A massive undertaking and then covid. I more than understand the frustration etc.
Patience is a virtue.
