Doug, when Tua played well we fans don't say it's because of Tyreek and Waddle. Many of us say it's bc of trash competition. When he loses it's because he plays like trash and that's a fact. Look at his stats against winners last season. Pure garbage. His good stats last season was padded because of crap teams they played. That's also a fact.

@Staymad13 Did the defense allow 30+ points against KC in Germany? No, it gave up 14 but Tua choked on the last drive. Against Philly, Tua choked and threw a pick on the last game-tying drive. Against Buffalo he choked by throwing a pick on the last game winning drive. Against Tennessee he had 2 possessions to simply get 1 first down with 3 minutes left in the game to ice the game and he choked twice by failing to pick up even 1 first down. In fact on the last drive all he had to do was get us in field goal range and he choked yet again. He choked again against KC in the playoffs and looked completely inept and in fact was inept. He doesn't deserve a new contract but lucky for him and Fins brass is a clown show.
Omar said it's Tua fault about a interception in the 1st quarter and Tyreke dropped a walk in touchdown in the 4 to go up.... smh

Ya, Omar is a solid Fins beat writer, it gives Doug even more legitimacy, so I understand why Doug feels so highly about Omar. His liberal view outside of sports that he lets sneak into his Dolphins coverage is why I don’t enjoy Omar.

Don't pile on RT17, dude was inexperienced at the QB position and wasn't a natural but he wasn't bad either. He has thrown for almost 35,000 yards, thrown 100 more TDs than picks, has a career QB rating over 90 despite the 70s and 80s he threw in Miami with Philbin, and has a QBR well over .500 despite the Dolphins. Plus, he might need to come back on a vet minimum contract at some point.
um....which super bowl winner didn't have multiple things "align"? that's why we watch the games, it's rarely best team on paper, it's whoever things align for.
Miamis humidity is way crazier than Vegas or Cali heat so I think raiders will be in trouble.. we will all take dry heat over sticky heat any day..

He has a very good season(his typical) and he will get $55/year Contract in 2025.. Watch who gets $55 next year and I’ll be here to say I TOLD U SO
The only time I enjoy Omar is when he's talking to Doug. They play off eachother well.
THAT SAID, it stops being analysis when your every assessment is "Well, we'll see what happens". Yes, we will, but that doesn't really answer Doug's question. He plays it SO SAFE with these answers. "How does Tua look?" "If he improves, he'll be great. If he doesn't improve, the team will struggle." And then, no matter what happens, you can say that you were right.
I happy for Omar that he’s at the Herald, but I loved him with Poupart! I started out disliking Omar probably 10years ago, but he’s by far my favorite Dolphins writer. I don’t agree with everything he says, but I love oline talk, I watch the line then watch the ball, so I appreciate he’s dedication to the line. I love him on the Joe Rose show. Sorry he had a rough personal patch last year, much love Omar!!
So we have a legit O line? I don't think so. But say we do. McDaniel needs to trust his rushing attack and build confidence amongst them. Then carefully craft the expansion of the passing game; not rolling out or adding a bunch of gimmicks. Outside of our hot potato attack, Tua is below average. It's not all his fault but he has to grow and expand his competence running other concepts. Please pound the ball, Mike! Please!
I think anyone who thinks that any quarterback who is above average that’s getting a contract in 2024 is going to be under 50m a year is insane. Look at the history of QB contracts. They don’t go down. They go up. 50 is the going rate right now. I’m not saying what is deserved and what isn’t. I’m just saying it’s stupid as hell to think Tuas contract will be under the NEW contract qb going rate.
You are correct, we did come back and beat the Ravens two years ago after they pulled out to a tremendous lead. They also were missing their two starting safeties and it was game 2 of the season. It didn't mean anything other than just a regular game. We barely beat buffalo as they also had key members hurt. They dropped a simple 10 yard touchdown pass at the end of the game or we wouldn't have won. Beating a team 1 out of 10 times, isn't even worth mentioning. In fact it's embarrassing. Buffalo and Josh Allen owns us on a whole new level after they killed us last year in the first game, then beat us again after Josh turning the ball over 3 times, did everything possible to give us the game and we still couldn't beat them. When it mattered, last season at the end of the year, Baltimore embarrassed us. So No, Tua has not stepped up and beat a good team when it matters most. Not even close. If he craps the bed again this year, we don't win our division and don't win a play off game year 5 into somebody. Not only does he not deserve to get paid, we need to move on. It's going to be another Tannehill situation 2.0. I listen to your podcasts and respect what you have to say. I also listen to TDphins. Now I will say this, if Tua improves this year, beats SOME good teams, since our schedule isn't the 4th easiest in the league this year, and at least wins our division and a play off game. Then give him a deal and pay him. This is by far the best offense he will ever have around him, last season and this season.
As Omar told the story about Tannehill, it sounded extremely similar to what we’re going through now. It’s just a different name. Tua is nothing special at all! He has accomplished no more than Tannehill has. Leading the league in passing impressive. M. Schaub and J. Winston both did the same thing one year. They’re not superstars nor do anyone hail them to be these great QBs. But Tua could lead the league in passing with a measly 4600 yards and is all of a sudden the goat to these people

Then we will agree that snow and cold weather are competitive advantages for all three of the other AFC East teams so let's keep us out of th9se type of games as much as possible. Original AFC East city Baltimore back to the AFC East, Indianapolis to the North and Miami to the AFC South is so correct on so many levels and for so many common sense reasons, Ross filing a lawsuit to demand the three team rotation would probably be all that is needed for Goodell and the owners to look at the many impactful benefits for all three teams and the league as well and all will be self-evident.

I think Tua to me looks more like Bob Griese than any current QB; they both had good not great arms, both were good in the pocket but also had good not great mobility and they both were extremely accurate with nice touch. the thing Bob had on his championship teams that Tua has not is a top 2 defense, and the best OL in football....give Tua the same and I think he can win us a couple SB's too.
Hold on guys I love watching both you guys but let's not pretend that the line for two what did not move because he was playing so bad. Shame on you Omar saying Tua can't play for a cold weather team. Not playing well in the heat or cold is what your body is accustomed to. The Dolphins have been accused of not being able to play in the cold since before Tua was born.

Jamming receivers off the line is going to be priority to defenses to throw off timing. The run game and finding ways to extend plays are critical.
It’s a advantage for the Dolphins to have to play up north in late December to every team has a advantage at home so give me a break the NFL put the Dolphins in the east instead of putting them in the south so blame them and these northern teams need to quit being babies and play the games they are scheduled to play i don’t ever hear the Dolphins complaining about having to play in Buffalo in late December nothing but big ass babies
Tua has been making a step up every year. This is a team sport, but everyone wants to blame the QB, and I understand why. The LAC QB and DAL and Tanniehill got a big contract. How are they so much better than Tua when Tua have better number than both of those QBs. He has what it takes to be great. Just look at Drew Breeze. He started out bad but got better over time, and with the right system, he excels and got his ring. I believe we will get there with Tua.
I can tell you why a Matt Ryan team made it to the Super Bowl… they played in a dome … he didn’t have to show his flimsy arm in weather. This is why Tua is exposed.

Tua has trouble beating above .500 teams, let alone good teams. It's so hard when your QB can't win against good team, can't win in cold weather, gets injured. Is Tua so special? Correct on the market - there is always at least one desperate team going all in - then again on the cold weather thing: has been reality so far - need to see something else to be able to discard that.

CORRECTION boys it was the referees fault in that Philly game !!! the head referee was born and raised in Philly so there’s no way anyone’s gonna tell me he was not an Eagles fan… there were 15 missed penalties on the Eagles. You can watch the tape and on that interception that he threw was grabbed and spun around, so it wasn’t entirely his fault. They just threw the flag… you don’t even need to watch the tape to know it was wicked just look at the stats, Miami was penalized 10 times in the Eagles were penalized 00000 times!!!

Let's be honest, guys. Tua beat Baltimore: in September, when the Ravens were learning a new defense. Tua beat Buffalo: in September while the Bills were wilting in the heat and still outgaining the Phins by a 2:1 margin. His record vs playoff teams is pathetic. I know it's not all on the qb. But, come on, a 50 million dollar qb ought to be able to put a team on his back from time to time.
Since we are being honest Tua also beat the Ravens in Miami with Flores as coach the year before when they had knowledge of their old offense. Since of course we are being honest.
