I have Cobra F7 16-19 and 22-25 Hybrids. Nice hybrids and great off poor lies with the baffler rails. I also have a Cobra F9 one length 19 hybrid. I find the one length flies and bit low unless I fade the shot. Still it is great in the wind. In Oz Mizuno is one of the more expensive brands. Cobra, Wilson Staff an Cleveland are the mid priced brands.
To answer your question, I've got a Ping G410 3-hybrid, it's great to hit. It replaced my reliable TaylorMade Rescue Dual last summer. There's about a 12 year difference between the two. That's probably what it takes for me to consider changing out my Ping. Another thing that could convince me is a custom fitting process. It's not in my near future, but someday ...
Nice video and thank you. I picked up the 16 degree and moved it up to 17 degrees and the 22 as well but moved that down to 21 degrees to fill the gaps in my bag. These are fantastic hybrids, they sit very flat and the forgiveness (dispersion) is amazing. Love the Tensei shaft and how it kicks at the bottom as well. The only negative I can say is the deep wave channel directly behind the clubface can tend to dig a bit on heavier strikes. Otherwise they are top notch.
The Average Golfer I experienced the same thing with a Taylormade fairway wood years back as well. The model escapes me right now but it had a very deep channel as well and I had a much more downward strike at the time which was a bit of an issue. Thankfully my swing has evolved and that is no longer an issue. Thank you for your reply and I hope that you and all your loved ones are well.
I bought these in the 3 and 4 iron equivalent this winter. Love the sound of them above all else. As to why I bought new hybrids...I typically buy new ones as mine get a little beat up and worn down with nicks n scratches. Performance wise...no gain. But like em just as much as my M2s!
If you remove your one long bomber that turned over and carried 208, then every other shot was within 3 yards of 198 - for a long iron that is very good for almost any handicap range. The other thing I would say is your 85mph swing speed is a slightly younger / better average golfer's 7 iron speed - and that translated to a consistent 198 carry - that's a hell of a gamer club. For your part of the world, the 75 foot peak height actually is probably desirable - for the more fair weather crowd, something closer to 90-100 would allow you to hold greens better - but that is a far better wind club for a hybrid.
Thanks for the video Andy - as you say, we need some content at the moment! I agree that Mizuno price points are relatively good value. The driver, for a top brand which performs as well as anything, is under £300. I tend to agree that most quality hybrids do a very similar thing. I still hit G30 hybrids and have hit others but why change my G30 4 iron when it does exactly what I want it to do?
When conditions allow, Im hoping you will do many more golf course vlogs. I think you are at your best when you and your friends are on a course. But during all the Corona hysteria, you just wouldnt believe all the BBQ being smoked on patio's here all across Texas.
Lovely point Andy I reckon hyrbid tech hasn't moved on for quite sometime they all do a good going back 5 6 7 years ... Love a hybrid great clubs get one you likw the look of.. I've got a TM M6 hybrid love the look of it does the same job as my cobra f7 but liked to top down look 👍👍👍👍
Like you say, most clubs are much of a muchness these days. But if you're in the market for a change, finding one that fits your eye and sounds/feels how you want is key! Sometimes just having something new can inspire that but of confidence and enthusiasm you need.
@@TheAverageGolfer you know what though mate? I reckon if this lock down goes on more than a few weeks, it'll actually prompt people into buying more new equipment once they're allowed back on courses, feeling like they want to splash out! Thats if courses are still in business 😩
If you were faced with a run up shot on a long front bunkered green could you take 10 yards off the club with confidence or risk going over the green? Great video.
I’ve started carrying a 30 degree hybrid (Ping G410). It fills the five iron slot for me with a much higher ball flight. I like the low profile. The Mizuno club looks great as well.
I suspect that launch monitor is reading you club speed somewhat lower than it should Andy. A smash factor of 1.55 seems a teensy bit high for a hybrid, wouldn't you say?
I just got a 2H in this club. I play it at 15 degree and 1 upright. Replaces 3-5 woods in my bag. Won't get much fairway use just because of the carry length but great sub off the tee.
The Average Golfer I can carry it about 235-245. The CLK lie angle in the 2H is as flat as a fairway wood. That’s why I selected it to fill the gap. I don’t feel I will hit it left like I do my G400 3H. I’ll replace it soon most likely with another CLK.
Great vid as always Andy 👌 keep the chin up. Got the JPX 919 HM'S last year(to replace my sldrs, and will change out my M4 woods for mizzunos hopefully this fall ?
Awhile ago you said that there wasn't anything out there better than the ping g400max driver and you would let's us know if you found anything. So my question is did you ?
@@TheAverageGolfer It was into a TV screen and I'm not really sure what I'm looking at to be honest. I was comparing it to the Yonex with the 45 deg angle grooves. Can't remember the model name. It just felt so good and the shaft combination allowed me to know where the head was and where it was pointing so I could put a decent amount of effort in. I was getting fitted for something else at the time but as the shop had no customers we played around a bit and the fitter was my coach so he stepped in a corrected a few things to get the fitting spot on. By the way. The Yonex was perfect too but not quite as 'strong' for want of a better word. When all this done you could do a feature on the Yonex driver and woods. Good clubs for the money. A shade better than other slightly cheaper brands I think. I don't think they would get the Mizuno out of my bag but they made me hesitate they are that good. I'm going to make a back garden video on what I did buy though.
17 yards of roll isn't very good for a hybrid, I would like to see it 5-8 yards max. Also the height and descent angle aren't the greatest unless you are looking for a links club to play under the wind.
I honestly think the difference is always the golf shaft, swing speed kicks a certain shaft ball flight way high or low and rolling/running, way high and right and or way left and low. Get a club you love to look at with the wrong shaft, and you will not be looking at that club much longer, I've seen it and done it for over fifty years, there is the right shaft and the rest are wrong for every player. It's an opinion, and I've spent a ton of money proving. TAG good video, thanks.
That is a pretty powerful 3H, 21 degrees carrying a bit longer than my 19 degree Ping G410 hybrid with a similar swing speed. However, I do think a low ball flight is a useful option if you already carry a 5w - the 5w will be high launching and a smooth almost chippy swing will produce a similar number to the hybrid
You could ask, are all people the same?, because it doesn’t matter what the clubs are, how much they cost, it’s down to the golfer, the person using them, you can’t buy a golf swing.

Very impressive numbers for your swing speed. Landing angle is the only thing thats a bit low for you I believe.

I have a few in the locker

I would have preferred a steeper decent angle Ian, ball flight was an issue for me.

Look at the specs on the lie angles. As flat as the matching fairway with a shorter shaft. Avoids most complaints of leftward miss.
Which is perfect

Depends what your hitting it into, a winter green I'd want it to stop almost dead, a fairway in the summer I'd expect 17 yards of roll
