HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH THE RED DEER RUT-RICHMOND PARK

- This video covers how to photograph the red deer rut at Richmond Park in London. I look at the camera settings for wildlife photography as well as field craft needed to photograph and film deer. I also look at some of the biology of both red deer and fallow deer.
This video is full of stills images of red and fallow deer and well as slow motion footage and real speed footage of both these species of deer.
Richmond park is a wonderful place to watch photograph and film deer. I was privileged to witness to red deer having a full on rut. These fights typically don't last very long. It's a test of strength for the deer. They don't want to keep going longer than necessary because series injury is a distinct possibility. I also saw a full on rut with two fallow deer. This lasted for about ten minutes which again was amazing to watch film and photograph. Because these deer are smaller and have less pointed antlers they aren't so worried about series injury occurring during a long fight. It was still very dramatic to witness.

Great video Steve Hedges !!👍. Awesome footage and stills of the Rut !!😲🦌🦌❤️📸. Nice to see that you filmed and photographed the Fallows too🙂, hearing them belching away😃. I live close to Bushy Park, it’s so cool to see the Stags charging about🙂🦌🦌. Well done.
Thanks very much Nirmal, yes great to see both the red deer and fallow deer. I haven't been to Bushy Park, it's a great time to visit either Bushy or Richmond isn't it? Thanks for watching, all the best Steve.

Great video Steve, not been to Richmond for a few years, last time I went was a Weekend in the rut and it was a bit to busy for me, with a crowd near every bellowing male which put me off TBH. Might have to go back for another go next year though after watching this
Thanks very much, pleased you enjoyed it. Yes I have to say it wasn't that busy this year. There were other photographers but it never felt too pressured. I think it would definitely be worth a visit next year. Thanks for getting in touch, all the best, Steve.
