Even though Blackie seems to disown the whole Inside the Electric Circus era, that's my favorite album and lineup this band ever had. I'm probably in the minority on this one, but it's still my favorite.
I remember when Circus came out and how people just fled the WASP camp and went all in on thrash and death metal bands instead. That album was such a let down for the fans after The Last Command, WASP never really recovered from it. Not to insult your taste dude, but I was 18 at that point and I remember how WASP almost disappeared over night. My guess is Blackie remembers this too and that album brings back the bad memories of being on top of the world one day to the next being back to playing in clubs.
@@eltoro969 well.... W.A.S.P. never quite got on top cause they were just to....serious maybe, or too hard without comprise. They were always catching up, but had great traction for a spell in any case. A band without widespread commercial success in the 80's will morph and falter somehow eventually. Blackie on the cover of the Circus album, 'glaming out' and slicking wasps sond was a move.. but a death knell to be sure. Great band, great idea, great vision, but a stubborn mission statement in Blackie and never really quite broke as a band the way he would have hoped.. the band didn't really have "songs" But I remember the blurbs and the tiny black-and-white mentions in the Hit Parader and Circus magazines in in the early to mid eighties and I was always absolutely in and I was always absolutely intrigued. In the big picture, WASP actually had a pretty short peak of success between 83 and 87. Most fans, like myself lost interest for them when Inside The Electric Circus came out. I was 18 and I remember how every WASP fan I knew hated it. Back then it was a constant flow every month of new bands and genres, so if you failed on ONE album you were quickly yesterdays news. And in 1987 WASP was sadly enough just that. The Headless Children is a great album but it got completely over-looked and still to date is a highly underrated album. But it proves my point about having to keep up with hit albums in the 80s. The competition was INSANE back then and WASP was never able to bring back their old fans after Circus. But they got a lot of new younger fans and many black metal heads loves that album.
@@eltoro969 i think the other problem was they didn't have a big power ballad hit....that's what kept every 80s metal band afloat and made them giant stars. It's the same reason Ratt never got as big as Motley Crue, they never had the power ballad. Motley would have been over too if it werent for Home Sweet Home
