Excellent tips. While you demonstrated the various noise reduction options using the Mixcast 4, your guidance is also spot on for those of us who usually do everything in post. For Mac users, Audio Hijack (and some other DAWs) allow you to engage in noice reduction and other signal processing during recording. Your testing approach works well whether applying processing during recording or in post. Thanks for this and your other informative videos.
Stephen, thank you so much for your positivity and support. You are awesome! That is a great way to look at the testing when it comes to using that methodology in post. I am going to keep cranking out (what I hope to be) helpful content in this genre. Thanks again!
Thank you. Very helpful
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. Happy to be of help.
Diggin' that stubble, Hank.
Also, lookin' to get a Mixcast, so thanks!
Thank you! I haven't had any facial hair since about 2015 (full beard that no one liked) LOL!
So cool to hear that you might join the Mixcast club. We have a secret handshake... 😁
If/When you do be sure to let me know your thoughts.

I am happy this video was beneficial to you. Thank you for watching and for commenting. I appreciate it.
I have a mixcast 4 and your videos are super helpful
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your positive comment.
I had to bail on the Mixcast 4 - too many issues like USB connection being inconsistent, the lack of more than 4.3gb files and a bunch of tiny things that I just felt my Zoom P8 did better. I wanted to LOVE the Mixcast but instead had to walk away. I'll keep an eye on their firmware patches but all in all, it was far more effort for me to record with the Mixcast 4 vs the P8.
I can definitely understand if something doesn't meet your needs, you have to find something else that does. I feel the same about the RODECaster Pro. Many people are very high on that device and I respect that. For me, I had nothing but issues with 3 different RCP's I owned. While everyone else was thinking I was being hyperbolic, I had constant issues with that device that lead me to the Mixcast 4.
Hey :=)
I need your help.
I am using the mixcast 4 with the Shure SM7B and the Background Noise "shshsh sound" doesn't disapear until I go over to Noise Gate Attenuate of 25 . But I do sound like a robot then.
What can you recommend me to do ?
The Mixcast 4 has really clean mic preamps so I can't imagine why you're getting so much background noise. I own both the Mixcast 4 and the SM7B and don't have that issue (as the device delivers a whopping 66.5db of gain). Keep in mind that you don't want zero background noise, you simply want to have low background noise. I never attenuate more than 10-11 (if I turn that feature on at all). One thing that will raise the level of noise you are hearing is using the compressor. If you turn off compression the noise is greatly reduced in my opinion. That's true for any device of this type. Also, are you hearing noise from your recording environment or the actual device itself?
Just got the Mixcast 4. This video is awesome except....How do I get to Noise suppression screen?
Depending on which firmware you're running, click the 3 lines (hamburger icon in the top left of the touch screen) >>> then the left icon with the mic/phone/usb/bluetooth logos >>> then mic 1 >>> then voice setting >>> click the arrow at the bottom right >>> turn on processing by tapping the slider button >>> then click Noise Suppressor >>> click the wrench button to change settings.
Thanks for checking out my video.
If you have the newest firmware update you would simply click the 1 on the bottom left of the screen to shortcut the first two above steps.
