  • Margaret discusses her journey into, through, and recovery from CRPS.
CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) is a condition that leads to pain and several other associated physical changes which are incredibly debilitating.
It’s an amazing, insightful, and inspirational story about not only recovery but also about understanding ourselves and understanding why things happen to us, which we appear to have no control of.
The realisation that we do have control, we do have the capability to recover but have to approach it in an often counterintuitive way is key. The first steps to recover have to be ours, sometimes with the support of others, but that first tiny step is often the catalyst to that recovery.
    Enjoy the video.
    Thanks
    Drew

Thank you, Drew! I so appreciate your videos. This was so helpful to hear. I have been thinking that those people who have suffered with CRPS and successfully retrained their brains would do well to consider mentoring other CRPS sufferers. I think that so many people are trapped in the medical model of pain, doing one medication after another, one procedure after another. But to have one person who has recovered from CRPS put out their hand to help another out of the pit, I believe that could change this painful syndrome faster than anything.

I agree with you that the power of storytelling can help more than anything else.

Thank you so much for this video! It's trully inspiring! I often hear that mindset is essential for all sorts of achievements, but with health (and especially CRPS), as I can see now, it's crucial.
I feel more enthusiastic and relieved after watching this. And I know that I'll rewatch it again :) And I'm confident that with right technics, optimism, and enough of patience I'll overcome it, and everything will get back to normal :)

I’m being considered as having CRPS since I fractured my right ankle. I took CBT and that was helpful for depression due to chronic pain from back surgery, endometriosis, 3 knee surgeries, and more. Now finishing the ACT course but it sounds to me like the program Margaret took is more detailed. I have fiery shooting pain & tingling of injured foot and now starting on the good foot. I have constant pain and so when i acknowledge my pain by saying “Oh there u are”…what I can’t understand is I could say “oh there you are” all the time. The pain doesn’t leave ever. I live in Canada and not sure if that program is available here. Can u forward more details about this program? Is there online help? Thank u 🇨🇦 ❤

An online option is the Curable app. It explains the principles to follow in recovery from persistent pain.

I wish you would have done a 1 minute synopsis at the beginning of what was done, having to listen for such a long time is painful.
