    I agree about the ebony fretboard. I have it on my banjo and I played an ebony oboe and there is nothing like it!😊❤ I also have an emotional attachment to cherry wood. I am glad to hear that it gives a mellower sound because cherry is what I'm getting and mellow is what I want.

    What a brilliant comparison, I must admit I do like the cherry sound, it’s more mellow in my opinion. 👌

      I agree, I was ready to like the butternut better, but the all cherry was so sweet and mellow.

    This video helped me SO much. I actually changed my mind from my original choice of the FolkRoots model to the Folkcraft. To me it has a more "mountain" sound, for lack of a better way to describe it, which is what I'm after. I went with the cherry/cherry 24" VSL Folkcraft FSH with the vining hearts. Can't wait! Thanks for doing this comparison.

    awesome video. I will be contacting Folkcraft directly very soon and will mention your name. I really want the Folkcraft FSH with all northern cherry. Not sure about the sound holes, I wanted a cross with the vines, but dont see it on their site. But thank you again and I cant wait to get mine. Have a Blessed day.

    With custom you can get all the tuning pins on one side. (The higher priced custom ones)

    I’ll go with wenge fret board on my next purchase and the tuning head that has tuners on one side. I’ll stick with darker hardwoods

    So which of the two reviewed here has the better sound, in your opinion?

      Just saw this, both have cherry back and sides and one is cherry top one butternut. I can’t say which I prefer, each dulcimer has a pleasant sound. I currently have 5 that I play, and each one sounds a lot different. Sorry to not be of help, but when you “sit” with one for a bit your ear will love whatever you are playing. At least on my dulcimers that is. I have a mahogany back and sides with spruce top that sounds very different, and once I play it for a few minutes (at first it sounds odd) I start to love it. That one has no extra frets. You can see it in other videos.

    Are folkroot with ball and loop strings?

    • @BanjoLemonade
      @BanjoLemonade  2 роки тому

      You can use ball end or loop end on all Folkcrafts.

    Maybe my imagination but the folkroot seems to have as softer ring than the cherry fsh
