Why shoot rats?
There are thought to be more than 10 million rats in the UK (…yuk).
Rats carry many diseases which can spread to humans, normally through their urine, including: leptospirosis or Weil's disease, salmonella, listeria, toxoplasma gondii and hantavirus.
Rodent contamination also presents a significant risk to livestock health. Both cattle and sheep will ingest a large proportion of faecal contamination (Daniels & Hutchings 2001).
Rats can also inflict structural damage. They can cause fires by gnawing away the insulation around electrical cables, floods by puncturing pipes and they chew through gas pipes. The insurance sector has estimated that rodent damage to wiring is responsible for 25% of all electrical fires in buildings.
Finally, rats can ruin an organisation's reputation. If clients and customers spot evidence of rodent infestation in the premises you manage, they are unlikely to want to do business with you.
I used to work for an animal feed store only around 2000 sqft. with an infestation. The rats knew when the store was closing and would line up on the rafters around 5pm. I could shoot them off the walls and their buddy beside them wouldn't even move. Took 1 year every second day for at least 2 hours plus traps to end the mess.
I bet they thought, 'Yep, more food for me' - Until they got the bullet themselves, lol
this seems like a genuine good job, imagine just shooting targets for a living and not putting your life on the line.
The air was filthy in a huge dump of rubbish! Not good for health!
Sweet gig! Enjoy!
That looks like an air gunners dream. And they get to use thermal scopes? What a great job. I just found my second career.
The coolest jobs I've seen so far are
-mounted industrial shotgun Operator
-Rat sniper
god damn rats got themselves snipers as well to counter the human snipers
Less talking more shooting.
batmantiss
Exactly. Way too much chit chat and blah blah blah in this video, and not enough rats being shot.
typical brit, no wonder they got a rat problem with all that jaw jaggin
@bofursgun south texas
@bofursgun i dont have a rat problem four legged or two lol
Just shoot the bloody gun
Too much talking
Rat snipers, best job ever.
It is awesome fun! 👍
Proper air rifle, that one looked flat
its kind of laughable...to put it on a resume...
😎👌🏿
Will a Crossman day catcher rifle kill a rat? Because I shot one on the body and it jumped once and then again and then it ran
Too much talking ..not enough shooting
30K in gear to rid of rats? Shawn Woods is laughing his ass off!
shawn woods is a collector, dont underestimate what he has spent on antiques.
I'm amazed you didn't wear respiratory protection in there!
water will be added to stop potential airborn hazards even tho waste always has its hazards... its catch 22 to the job
Water won't help much. You need a respirator.
target rich environment! Spotting & shooting with the right kit is a game changer. Nice going
Back here in the United States I have a few friends that work in the Waste Management Department. Looks just like that building. I never thought about it but I'm going to hit them up and see if I can do some pesting for them. It would be like shooting fish in a bucket. Great video and thanks for the idea. 👍👍✌🇺🇸
Richard Campbell Prepare for smell, it not gonna be a picnic.
@@sebekglab I hear you!! Been there before. It does not smell like a bed of flowers that's for sure. Lol ✌🇺🇸✌
Doesnt have to be just rats here in Turkey ferral cats are game and other animals as well.
@@commentcomment5693 nah, leave the kitties alone
I've just rang my local one and they said no
You could get a 12 year old boy to do that job for just pellets
Tyler Gordon Not today’s 12 yr old. You’d need a lot of Vc and V-bucks
Tony Stark mostly true, but I’m 16 and good mates with several 12 year olds and they’re not all bad
My 10 year old would love it,I try to plink steel with him a couple hours each Saturday, but ya know how life goes sometimes.Hes pretty slick with his lil Ruger 10/22
@@stokesy887 my snout is out
rumplestiltskin mcrumplestiltskin what does that even mean
Our local landfill here in America hires a weird dude with a giant hunting falcon to kill all the pests. Pretty effective too
I am jealous . Been shooting air rifles since I was a kid, with iron sites . Would love to fire a FX airguns and Pulsar optics.
Josey Wales buy one my friend. you won't regret it. but pcp is expensive
The security guard at the local tip shoots the rats to pass the time, when it’s closed.
I find videos like this comforting.
I can’t believe the type of money other countries put into air guns. Some of those things cost more then my 338 Lapua build
Lasers mates, lasers, thermal spotter mark target.
If you put a sign out the front "please shoot our rats" you would have a line of people a mile long wanting to do the job for free
Very enjoyable to watch, but saddens me remembering the days of "Air Heads"... I miss that channel, surely I'm not the only one. William C. in the U.S.A.
So that's where the Chinese food restaurants get all of their rats🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We used to do this in south Georgia lol. It was normal to use 300 rounds of 22lr a night. I could never see we made a dent in the rat population.
Target rich environment , lots of rats and big ones , looks like lots of fun
My lowes had some nice ones until the managers got there hands on poison .
That’s one of the coolest jobs I have ever seen. Where do I apply?
7000 dollars worth of equipment to shoot rats LOL
These Lads are the SAS of Rat Hunting LoL.
Beautiful air rifles awesome video fx really do make a stunning air rifle.
this is my dream job. it’s Charlie work but classy
Introductions, interviews, weaponry and such for 2 minutes, then just "Shoooooooooooot" already! Wahi' Valleys
Fun as it may seem thank God my smellovision is turned off.
Ya reckon leaving some Bait out on the open grund would be a better option
great vid, more advertising for FX...great kit when it works, but noone adresses the elephant in the room, leaks....especially the impacts...leaks galore...and so many places it can happen, mine is on the way back to FX for the second time, 50$ to ship every time, incontrast my 15yo rapid, aa410 has no issues, and my vulcan is trucking on its 2nd year no issues....FX impact mk2 lasted 2 weeks and started to leak...sent it in and 6 weeks later got it back, but still leaking....now its going back again and this is a 2K$ rifle, you would think they would put some more care and attention into their flagship rifle
Agreed but any gun could potentially have a fault that's just the way it goes, granted a well made brand helps eliminate the likelihood but at the end of the day any gun could develop a fault at least that's my opinion. I say that but if I spent 2k on an airgun I'd expect it to look after itself haha
This was awesome to watch. I also love watching the mink man
I hate myself, but I found the intro to this so funny. Great rock soundtrack and putting their 'pulsar optics through their paces'. What chance the measly rodents. Bang away fellas, let the show commence!! I gave it a like by the the way.
spent 20k for thermal and fx guns just for rats
Dont only kill rats
And earn it all back in a few months 😂
Excellent..now these sniper teams shout work in cooperation with on the ground assistants with fully automatic BB guns like the Crosman AK 1 fully automatic, or the Umarex Legends MP40 Beast.
5:59 Definitely needs a stoplight 🚦there 🤔
Guess luke Skywalker made shooting rats a sport now
Good job We need you to come to Los Angeles we have a rat problem A very big rat problem Just seen it on the news Thanks
Get kitted up with an air rifle and get shooting! 👍😄
I'm a rodent shooter dreamer...Stuck living in the city. When I move I'll be a rodent marksman in the trenches...
Rat shooting should be free to all airgunners by law.
It's not what you know it's who you know.
@Ali S not really best country in the world
Where I live, our garden backs onto a farmers field and we have nightly visitors, luckily I have a PARD nite sight
@@PeterMaddison2483 get yourself a pulsar Thermion thermal,
It's a game changer.
I used to use the xsight 4k Pro full ir but went thermal and you will be amazed what you are missing using ir.
Thermal all day long,
Check out my vids
@@PeakyBlinder I don't really need it as I'm only in my back garden.
Rats exist:
Guys with air guns: "So anyway, I started blasting."
This is what you dream of doing since you were a kid. Literally living their dream. I mean who did not dream of shooting rats in a stinking dirtplace at some point?
I WANT ONE !!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your video. Im convinced.
terriers. a pack of them.
The rats will hide once they see the dogs. The rifles allow you to shoot them without them knowing you're there.
those rats are as big as terriers...
Shooting rats with an $8,000.00 air gun setup. LOL
Like throwing a teaspoon of water on a bonfire. You lads are wasting your time.
Ryan Cameron it’s great if you like shooting, not so great if you own the place ☺️
With them running so much, I couldn't help thinking that a .410 shotgun with bird shot would be the ticket. But it would be so loud inside that building!
To exspensive
rats will have the last laugh, they will outlive us all.
These boys should have some good trigger control doing this for work
Rat: Damn campers are everywhere
Where are those muppets from PETA?
@ 9:00 the lighting is right so that you're able to see all the particles in the air that they're breathing.
Call of duty: Rat warfare
So today our pet duck named Bing Bong died because of a rat so I'm watching this for her
They should do this to people who don't use their indicators 🤣
Hahaha....you must live in Colorado as well...LOL
@@benjameswatchman6279 ?
@@ludvig4752 bit harsh.
The most fun you can have with your pants on.
Big boy walks like vito from the sopranos 🤣🤣🤣
Less talking more shooting Less talking Less talking Less talking Less talking 🥵🤷♂️😳
Aha! This calls for a robot rat gun! Or two.
Well I've had spring guns for 40 years, l tune them and 97s could easily do this, there so accurate 50 yards, pellet on pellet.
One big improvement would be - less talk [far less !] and get on with the shooting guys
I work at a waste incineration plant. We use semi-auto 12 gauge with bird shot instead. Louder but easier.
Where can I get an application. Online or in person. I’m ready I can start today.
this brought me an inordinate amount of joy
He even got a spotter 💀
Why not let a couple dozen cats loose in there.. that would make a good show lol
It’s a rat safari 🐭..a lot of missing btw
More shooting and less talking would make the film more interesting.
Best way guy's to keep them still in one spot I use peanut butter with catfood and corn mixed together in sometimes frozen form placed on a disposable flat item in my case DVDs that didn't work or were messed up. Since they can't run off with it they have to stay in that area just make sure there's a safe backdrop just in case of pass throughs.
Good advice - ta. / Charlie
Now this gonna be a good business opportunities in the asia. After you shoot them, cook them. Intelligent!
6:42 rat found himself a big hunka cheese to gnaw on.
They should let 25 cats live in that place... Rats will be gone in a week
I'll do that same job with my daisy for half the price
What if Rats United sees this?
The Genie Z-45/25 J is a 227kg cage capacity
It's nice to see how the rats are jumping with joy when they got shot.
I think those are body shots as headshots would just have them instantly go 'nite-nite'
Those rats are as big as Baltimore Rats. LOL
isnt that the Grand Designs guys voice?
This must be a fun job.
Isn't this a repost from a few months ago?
Yeah that's what I thought
It's the standalone version of the programme we put out in October. / Charlie
That’s a repeat then.
Looks like it was the one that they referred to in this weeks episode. So reposted it as an individual piece.
Got recommended “Reggie the rat” and now I need to watch a lot of rats die before my mind is cleaned from that horribleness
O wow.....I'd love to take my HW80 FOR A DAY OUT THERE
I get shooting rat. I don't get shooting Ibex and stag ?
Artillery would be my prefered choice 🤔
My I recommend the DPMS SBR full auto c02 rifle will get that done half the time
Laser on thermal sights would help point out the rats to the shooters.
What would happen if you took a non fac air rifle and put a heavier pellet in it and got it to go above 12 foot pounds or if you would just at the spring no one would know the difference
...but then you get caught. / Charlie
@@fieldsportstv how are you get caught if your miles from the nearest game warden
Hi just wondering what would u need to do to set up a a company to do this?
Hi - start with the BPCA
43 seconds that rat ninja skills them
Rats are the most disgraceful animals on the planet. So ugly and filthy.
I would do this job for minimum wage in the states and love my job
Rifle or dog and mink?😂
You could charge admission for something like that.
Yeah I would pay a few hundred to do this for a day..
what about cat? way not used?
I want to join this air gun army too
What the hell was that at 6:16, that thing was enormous
what a job killing rats...worked with plenty over my time.
This is the 21 century version of Sisyphos!
Your 10 mln rat estimation for the intire UK is on the low side!
Thumb rule: each Person has his/her own rat. In some regions more than one, in fewer regions less than one.
Don't Stop reducing the numbers!
