Something of value - Espionage at NATO | 1980 | NATO Documentary

If you do not want to lose something of value, then watch this unique animation!
The narrator explains the risks of espionage and the many innocent ways in which information is gathered and pieced together by hostile intelligence. The animation alludes to the “threat from outside” while playing ominous music evocative of a science fiction drama. NATO is not mentioned by name, which adds to the eeriness of the entire piece.
The animation was produced in 1979-80 for security training purposes; it was created at the request of the NATO Security Committee with the help of the Information Service, and was made by Vision Associates Inc.

I cannot imagine the challenge human operatives face today especially with so many NATO countries in the Alliance; growing up in Paris in 1964-1967 as a NATO SHAPE dependent I had no idea what espionage was till we saw the movie TOPAZ. The segregation of information must be highly enforced and frustrating to the smaller participants. In any case, education and discipline are the best tools at your disposal. 📯
