- UPDATE: Once you watch this video, go here and watch the update that introduces Start and End Frames • Pan and Zoom in Premie...
Just a real quick video introducing a new feature in Premiere Rush called the Pan and Zoom effect. This feature applies to still imagery and gives depth and motion to your images to create a beautiful video slideshow. Have a look at how it works and if you like it, go ahead and hit that like button :)
Gear used for video:
- Canon Powershot G7x Mark II

Hi all, Premiere Rush had an update that introduced Start and End Frames which I know alot of you had been asking for in the comments, link to the clip is here and in the description: ua-cam.com/video/Hv_zGilL_4c/v-deo.html
this video left me with more questions then answers. why does it not work with a video? why doesn't it let me customise were i zoom? can you spend more time explaining features like this because as you can see everyone is confused.
dumb dumb dumb!!! needs to work on video, its a freaking video editor!
But it's only for only photos correct? Drives me nuts I can't for video (unless I go to premiere, which I haven't learned yet) And we should be able to play and clip videos backwords...both are a available on cheaper or free apps. AND I cant edit on galaxy tabs... 🤪 Because Samsung makes incredible tablets and cheaper then Apple..Im thinking of leaving my beloved Adobe because of these options, and I can't use on my Tablet...I love Rush
When will we be able to do this with video as well as images?
I came here hoping to see how to edit the start and end frame for the pan and zoom effect. Looks like I'm stuck once again settling for an image that will be static since the software's choice is useless.
If you apply panning to the frame you can stop it at the beginning and drag the photo (or scale it) to where you want it to start at least. That worked for me.
@@ryishwarr1234 start and end frame as in video. Not a single frame. Photo.
Maybe mention how much Adobe sucks for it being late October 2023 and STILL rush cannot pan and zoom VIDEO clips... which, I would wager, more than half the people came here looking for.
Awesome vid Chris, keep them coming
Definitely more to come thanks Ryan :)
Great feature need it on Premiere Rush. Basic tool but still relevant for editing. Great video 👍
Cheers Evelio, and yes great feature 😊
1 minute of talking about a topic that has nothing to do with panning and zooming... great. *at 1:28 he starts to actually get on topic...... for you viewers having the same frustration as me ( your welcome)
Legend
does this work on text? the toggle is greyed out
Why is Pan and zoom greyed out on mobile? Only option that I’m able to click is auto reframe
-____- just realized the effect is only for still images
No worries Le Dieu Noir 👍
best information bro i love it man
😀
Thank you 😊
Thanks
I can't access my pan and zoom in my iPhone
what should I do?
Hi Kyra, make sure your iPhone version of Rush is at the latest version and if you add in your images to your timeline, you can access it via the effects tab under motion, it’ll be the first option there. Hope that helps 👌
@@Chan53n thank you
Hey Chris, I marked all the clips and tried to turn the pan and zoom option on, but the switch won't flip. It remains greyed out no matter how many times I click. Any advice?
same problem
Hey Agent Smith, can I just confirm that you’ve marked still imagery clips and not video clips? If you are marking video clips then this feature will not work on video, it only works for still images. If you have marked still images however and it’s still happening, perhaps just check your version of Rush is to the latest update and try again. Hope that helps.
@@adbhutcivil see my reply comment above to Agent Smiths comment.
@@Chan53n Hey Chris, yep I was marking video clips not images. Thanks for clearing that up
@Agent Smith not a problem at all, so for anything like the pan and zoom technique for video, you’ll have to take your project into Premiere Pro and add key framing where necessary to get that effect. Hope that helps. Future videos to come on how that works within Premiere also.
and I thought iMovie had limited effects. this isn't anything like Ken Burns, this is just auto pan.
Hi which version of Rush has this? I have v1.5.12 (Build 554) and don't see it (is it only in the Beta?) Thanks!
Hi Paul, this would be the latest update, so 'I'm currently running v 1.5.25 Build 573. If Creative Cloud is not showing an update for you, you can go in and force it to check updates, just click on updates, go over to the three dots and click check for updates and it should come through, let me know how you get on :)
@@Chan53n Thanks- tech support team where I work updated it to build 573 and I see it now!
@@_paul_moore Excellent, enjoy and keep an eye out as I'll be doing a quick video soon on the latest Auto Reframe feature in Rush also
can we apply this effect on videos too? or only images?
Hi Sami, this effect specifically is for still imagery, however you can create a similar effect with video using key framing within Premiere Pro.
Great vid man! How do i change the speed of the zoom? It is going to fast for me.
Thank you, so the way you alter the speed of the zoom is just by dragging out the clip in your timeline, like you would normally changing the time of the clip and because its a still image it won’t affect the footage itself. Hope that helps :)
@@Chan53n thx :)
No worries at all 👌
Hey! Can I do it on Android?
This feature is greyed out don't know what I'm doing wrong 🙁
You can only pan and zoom images not video which is why it's greyed out.
Hello i cant on the pan and zoom option in rush ...please reply....I tried to find the problem in youtube I don't get any thing ...please reply
Hi there @I AM KJ, just checking if you have updated to the latest version of Premiere Rush and if you have, check under the effects tab, select an image in your timeline sequence and pan and zoom should be available in the effects panel underneath transitions. Let me know how you go…
@@Chan53n yes I did it ,but I can't pan and zoom in video.... How can that be possible
That’s correct unfortunately you can’t pan and zoom for video, that feature is for images only. If you want to get that effect you’ll have to open your project in Premiere Pro and select the video and use effect controls to apply key framing to get the desired pan and zoom effect.
Hope that helps let me know how you go
@@Chan53n Ok thanks ....I'm not using premiere pro....no problem .....I will support you ..keep going
@@iamkj9117 thank you appreciate it, have a look at Premiere Pro though as the more you get better at Rush there are similarities with Pro too. Enjoy 😊
do you have to make a payment for the pan and zoom to work ???
Hi It’s Mary, so this is available in the free version, you can still use it, however, you won’t be able to export that out. If you have the free version, take note of any stars next to effects, that means that you only get access to that via subscription. Hope that clears it up 😊
Chris Hansen so basically yes. It is locked behind payment.
Chris Hansen I pay for the monthly subscription and this feature still doesn’t work...
Kadeemus The Genius have you updated your Rush application recently, if no check your Creative Cloud Desktop Application to see if there is one as its in the latest update.
Chris Hansen I use Rush on the iPad. I see the feature but it does not allow me to turn it on.
Hai bro can we do pan zoom effect right side instead of left??
even i was wondering, why I can't change where to zoom like I can in premier pro
How do u zoom in quickly and then zoom back out?
Hey Fort nighfate, at current there are no manual controls for refined zooming in or out on particular areas, Sensei detects the subject in the image and determines the zoom areas. You can manually move the image around by double clicking the image but controls for position start and finish, zooming etc will follow in a future update. Hope that helps.
Ok thank you so much I need that for a montage
So the pan and zoom is automatic? And not editable? If that’s so I’m confused on why it’s even a feature
In its first release it is automatic, however coming soon in a future update, you will have the ability to set the position and scale of the start and end points of images and also be able to apply effects to multiple clips at once.
@@Chan53n do you know how soon? I'm really anticipating the update, just so I don't have to animate that stuff by hand
@Mypet Blackie at current no indication, but once i find out, I’ll do an update video for it and when i do, I’ll tag you in this chat so you can see it :)
I was able to at least set the starting point by applying panning to the frame, then I stopped it at the beginning and dragged the photo (or scaled it) to where I wanted it to start. It kind of works to stop it at the end of the clip and size it there too.
@@ryishwarr1234 coolio, thanks for the tip!
That was useful... And fast xD
Thank you 🙏
Can u pan and zoom on videos?
Hey C J , Sami asked a similar question below, but short answer no not for video in Rush, but you can do this through key framing within in Premiere Pro.
Chris Hansen thank you for the response
Can u do a video on shake effect pls
DeadyPool this is on the cards for a future video for sure, so stay tuned 👍
@@Chan53n thanks mate😁
TO CATCH A PREDATOR...
@Vanzy HAHA I've got that a few times, definitely not the same one!
@@Chan53n nope lol
Why can't I zoom in on a goddam VIDEO on Rush lol? It's a video editing app, not a photo editing app. Rush is useless without keyframing. So annoyed.
Hey there Merrily Merrily Musico, you can zoom in on video in Rush if you use the crop and transform tools there are scale options that allow you to do that. If you want a key framing effect essentially you can split the clip and have one side normal scale then the other part of the clip zoomed in so it transitions into the next. Alternatively you can open your Rush project into Premiere Pro and apply key framing there. Hope that helps 👌
Chris Hansen with Hansen vs predator?
Lol, I do get this alot HawksIn5, but not the same guy, hope you enjoy my videos on Adobe tips and tricks and features 😊
This is Chris Hansen with nbc
Lol I’ve heard this a few times thanks Wesley :)
How you earn views
Chris Hansen eh?
Hi. Gosh you are talking too quick! Slow down a bit please so we can take in all you say and do. Thanks
