A lot of people say don’t judge but there’s such thing as Righteous judgement. As a body we really have to use or logic as well as our discernment about these type of things. I completely agree… as a regular person listening to a song, I thought it sounded amazing. Nikki is super talented and it’s always very exciting to see artists singing gospel… BUT what is she saying? She’s saying that she’s rich because of God. God is our provider but humility is at the core of following Jesus. This walk is a tough one not one of riches and “Ice”. Her verse is teaching that once you say yes to Jesus, wealth will come. She said “Name it, Claim it.” She’s not taking about a humble submission to God regardless of good times and tough times. She speaking about the law of attraction but giving it the name of Jesus. I really do love her and hope she comes to Christ and worships in spirit and in truth. I am definitely not condemning her because she probably didn’t know better. But the lyrics are not Christ centered. They are self centered. And if we were to take this song to the believers in Siria or the hidden churches over seas and told them “This is the gospel” they would be so confused. Again I am lot judging Nikki for being Nikki. But if we are going to listen to a song and say “Praise God for this. This is a worship song.” That song absolutely has to be sound doctrine.
