Thanks for this video. Repair shops wanted to charge me $30 to install my battery and I'm just too cheap for that especially after paying $65 to have the screen replaced 6 months ago. I'm so glad I saw your video. I bought a cell repair kit for $5 from harbor freight formerly Sears outlet, battery for $5 off eBay and spent 30 mins to an hour taking my phone apart to remove the old battery that was causing my phone to power off below 50% when I'd answer it. THANKS TO YOU my phone will last a little longer and I don't have to go buy a new one!

Hi, the replacement screen you have looks like it comes with the charger board already installed, I went to

Soooooo I brought the battery thinking it would be an easy fix, but lawd...... This is like taking a car apart and trying to remember how to put it back together smh..... This is crazy complicated, but like someone else said... No one would fix it, so that's how I ended up here. Didn't know I had to get a whole tool kit just to do what should be a simple process. After just watching the process, i seriously just want to buy a new phone instead of going through all this, but I'm going to try it. Wish me luck!! Thanks for the video!!

I rebuilt carburetors for years so cell phone seems alot easier. I aways used a white sheet or pillowcase so i could see the parts and screws, be very careful with magnets or magnetized tools around any chips they can erase the software from them. We used them to erase eprem chips to replace boot up software. I made a workbench that has a non sid surface, so nothing slides off and breaks.thank you for your video i am learning about cell phone repair and any knowledge on different models is a big help. Thank you, you make this process look easy. My screen is broken, and I will save for a phone, but will try this first, so if I mess it up it won't be too much time to buy a new phone. I noticed that this phone is on the heavy side, it is from Metro PCS. It is large, and I like the features on it. The only thing I don't like is the installation/reinstallation of the motherboard there. Knowing my luck I'd break that. But, practice makes perfect. Thank you Jose for your videos.

I'm glad this phone seems to be easy to fix and repair.
I have one but it got substantial water damage and screen breakage.
I've had 3 or 4 of these phones because unfortunately I lost one got 2 stolen from me.
And I damaged the last one.
I'm disabled and my hand eye coordination isn't the best.
But I am thinking of buying one of these.
When I got my first ZTE ZMAX PRO in September of 2016 it had just been released in July of 2016.
So it was only a couple of months old at the most.
And I think some of the earlier ZTE ZMAX PRO'S had stronger gorilla glass,
Because when I bought the first one I dropped it pretty hard!
And often and the screen didn't even scratch!
    Much less break!
But every one after that the minute I dropped it at all on the screen,
The screen would crack it didn't matter how lightly or hard I dropped it.
But I loved it so much that when I couldn't find it at MetroPCS.
    I tried boost.
I should have went to corporate but I didn't think about it.
And I couldn't afford the $170.00 at the time. So I thought I could go to boost as a new customer and get the ZTE ZMAX PRO for less.
Unfortunately they never carried the phone.
So I switched back to MetroPCS and bought another one.
But they don't carry ZTE PHONES ANYMORE!
Something to do with China pulling some shady crap!
So I am going to buy a used one from Amazon or eBay.
I did some research and found out that the batteries in phone's particularly this one usually only lasts 2 years.
So since the phone is 4 years old I'll probably need to purchase a battery and a kit to open the phone
But unfortunately I am not limber enough to do tiny repairs I might break something or lose a screw.
And their used to be a ton of phone repair places in my area.
But I don't see as many anymore.
And I don't know how much they will charge me just to change the battery and or the glass?

I just wanted to add my double thanks for this video. First time I needed this was to replace the lens on the camera. This time, my mic had stopped working in speech to text as well as when using the phone. However, when I did sound recorder or made videos I had sound. Solution was to change out the charging port board, which had the mic onboard. problem solved! Thank you thank you!! I can't afford a new phone just yet, LOL Peace, John

This is WAY too involved a process for me (I don't have the tools and I'm scared of going that deep in the phone), but I LOVE this tutorial and the way you've done it. THANK YOU for narrating, and just.. all the ways you've made this video. There are SO many "tutorials" that are silent, just sped up versions of someone wordlessly disassembling stuff, or shot from a mile away, and they're in NO way helpful (especially if you don't see super duper well). So I'm just super grateful for the narration, the free-flow of thoughts where you get all specific about the little intricacies, etc. THAT is a tutorial, and one that actually helps. Thank you thank you!
Now I just wish this was the type of phone from the old days where you could just pop off the back and yoink out the battery. OOF. *lol* Have a great night, and thanks again!

Cant believe how this ARM and SOC platforms combined now reduce the PCB of all the smartphones. In the past a PCB wasnt enough to fit underneath the entire dimension of a phone, even first smart ones and now? A small slice on the top and bottom paired with wire, probably just mic, pcb wasnt even necessary there. Simply amazing. And see these low-priced products using this advanced technology? Must be real cheap to produce if they can sell it so cheap. Makes me wonder how much margin is apple dropping onto their products then.

Do you have a video on how to solder the USB port? Mine won't hold a charge. Is that the problem or just the battery? I've tried every cord and plug, and cleaning the port. Holding the power button seemed like a temporary fix but still charges slow. Please help~

izzynutz2000 same issue for me on my zte zmax phone. I took it apart and had a couple corroded screws so it must've gotten water damage, plus the white water strip on battery was pink. Now I can't get it to charge even after drying it out and cleaning with alcohol. Big bummer

Is it worth getting the lcd and digitizer as an assembly (is the replacement lcd quality as good as original) or is it better to just get the digitizer and separate the two?

John Pinion is better The complete assembly , Quality I would say is the same cause they are using the original LCDs

Hey... Great video. my ZTE is stuck on the main screen like white metropcs. I went to get it fixed but they claim they don't make this phone anymore it's been banned or something. But my problem is all of my pixs, videos were on there. What do you think is a good way for me to get my items off of it. Can the screen be unstuck and why is it stuck. They claim it needs software update but i never got it. i had to buy a new phone which was 180 i sure hated to pay that.. I really loved this ZTE phone .. You are so talented by the way. Also where can I get that straight edge you used to open. I see your link but I don't need ALL of that stuff. I just need a few pieces of it to fix my sunglasses and to open this phone. Please let me know what to get to open it. Thanks AWESOME info.

@@JoseMoralestech Opened my phone but I cracked the case. Bummer. Then I did exactly what you said NOT to do - I slid the Spudger under the LCD screen. Still, I managed to unplug everything, waited 30 minutes, then plugged it all back in. Put everything together and.....phone still did not work. Wound up having to reset/clear the data and system and then reload it back in. THEN it came on and worked. Still - I would not have had the slight's idea how to open the phone up. I feel I gained quite a bit. First - I now have a Spudger to open the phone with. Second - I know a lot more about the phone and how it works, and third - I learned how to bring up the command line screen. And I now have my phone restored. :-)
