- Mark Handler, Tibetan Bowl Master, gives a concert using antique Tibetan singing bowls, demonstrating their relaxing, meditative, and sound healing properties. This is the second of two excerpts from this concert recorded August 12, 2008, in Traverse City, Michigan.

it's amazing how the sound which is coming out of these bowls can make your hairs going straight and your eyes falling asleep at the same time, and it's THROUGH A VIDEO !!!! imagine if you really were here !! (ps: it was really hard for me to type this comment and keep my eyes open at the same time !! very relaxing)

I use 34 antique bowls in my concert set and 16-20 for individual treatment sessions. Sometimes I also use an amazing 29" hand hammered gong that has an infinite types of sounds it it.
Wow this guy can really play! looks simple but a great deal of skill in letting them play for the right time and note combinations. Fantastic.

Dont be fooled and think you need to make a song with that bowl to dance on doing the Elvis, you actually try to create certain vibration by combining the vibrations from each bowl together resulting in very subtle or huge changes in hz level and feeling
, doing this in a certain pattern can make you get into higher states very easy.

How do we know this method is actually the original coming from the creators of these instruments? How long does somebody need to train for this to actually be qualified to do this? and Where can we be trained?

I was in contact with a spiritualist, who helped me in many ways, and of course strangely enough for most to hear, without any cost on my own. These people are genuine...and he lent me a book about Karma, and as I read it, I came to a point where it stated that a woman who has done enough good deeds in her life, and eliminated her Karma, may upgrade into a man in her next life, as to her wish. congruent it is with how it really is, so I asked the spiritualist, and he said that, "yes, in His eye's men are the dominant(?) sex", I forgot the exact usage of word, but he seemed to imply that males are superior in God's eyes. So, well why I am saying this, because I understand there's a lot of contention among people regarding how the Holy Books describe or "treat" women, but I believe we can safely say at this point, there is some grounds to this entire issue.

The "singing bowl" part is really awesome and relaxing... but the part where the guy hums is just creepy, suddenly it caused a bunch of bad memories to surface.
Both the singing bowls and polyphonic chant are synergistic and can be very soothing and/or instigating the release and letting go of physical, emotional, and or spirituals issues that that are unhealthy for one. When bad memories come, its giving you the awareness that it would be in your best interest to release and let go of this aspect of your past. Its not helpful clinging to the emotions of traumatic experiences. Peace to you.

Or you may not be into my chanting, which is just fine. My audiophile singing bowl album that is currently in the mixing and mastering stage will only be singing bowls and gong. My last singing bowl CD had chanting. I decided to release one that was just the bowl and gong tones.

Thanks for your kind response. You are indeed right on spot, I am regularly reminded that I should let go of some experiences that I have chosen to bury and forget. I am aware that talking and sharing these feelings would be a solution. One day when the time is right.

if negative memories surfaced for you, that means the bowls are working! The chant Mr. Handler is doing is called (I believe) throat singing which is practiced by Tibetan monks to facilitate meditation. I've had the great honor receiving a Tibetan Lama into my home, and in the course of our visit he performed a blessing for my husband and I during which he chanted this way. We were on cloud 9 for weeks afterward! The course of our lives was changed by our encounter with this man. We also were blessed to be present when the Dalai Lama spoke twice in New Orleans, and later attended a small Medicine Bowl ceremony at a temple. The chanting and bowls at the ceremony caused a massive release of pent up negative energy in one of the women who attended with us. She went with it, didn't suppress it or try to escape it, and she later experienced euphoria and had some epiphanies about her life. We are all just particles vibrating to different frequencies, held together and directed by the Souls that we are. Seems the most intelligent and efficient way to affect these vibrating particles is with vibrations.

he uses Tibetan bowls method and he makes hindu meditation...a mixed up of everything and the best method for mind confusion..
Would be even more effective with more spacious delivery ... less ‘busy’ ...let the resonance shimmer off into liquid silence, over & over. This delivery here cramps the bowls & diminishes the capacity of sound to bring new understanding upon listening.
Thank you for your comment Albert. In an perfect situation with a extremely skilled meditator, its actually ideal to have and equal balance between vibration and stillness. In a individual singing bowl treatment, one is able to assess to the skill level of the individual as well as pranic imbalance and adapt to their needs and wishes. An analogy would be advanced pranayama with someone who has practiced enough to be ready for it. Others have abdomens that barely move. The need to start, not with advanced pranayama, but with learning to increase range of motion of abdominal muscles. In a group situation, one has to adapt to skill levels to hang out in the full void from none to advanced, so some attention spans need more sound than others. In a group situation , I balance to create the best outcome for the most. You might notice in the video,that the folks who can be seen are deep in inner space or divine stillness.I felt the vibe that would work for that specific group, that specific time. One needs to assess the group vibration to find what will work best for the balance between sound and stillness.
