At 1:10 those metal thingys are for variable valve timing. The part with leaky o-ring is (exhaust) cam angle sensor, there is also intake cam angle sensor at top (can be seen 1:06 ).
Thanks for you info on the cam position sensor, I need to replace the RH exhaust one, or at least see if I have a leak causing interference in the electrical connector leading to a P0017 (Hopefully nothing more). And correct on the VVT pieces, at least one of the two round metal things on each side are your oil control valve solenoids. Subaru had these failing prematurely on some 2015 WRX's and updated them for the 2016's. I believe there was another update in 2017. Something to pay attention to.
Po302 on my 2006 Subaru sti did all swaps , compression and leakdown test, smoke machine vacuum leak test. Now gonna test and clean the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors
Capp i totally agree!! Headers should be nicknamed headaches. Rims won’t need any maintenance compared to headers. The power and sounds is always nice but gaskets and keeping bolts tight, start to get annoying after a while. That’s any aftermarket part for ya but headers are hard to reach.
Mark - find a Harbor Freight and get another set of O-rings I think another black assortment should only be about $10 - you may not be able to get the stock O-ring without the sensor. I think the sensors are cam position sensors - I had one go out in my XV and the car wouldn't let me use the cruise or rev past 3500 RPM - I'd be careful with it hitting the ground - if memory serves they run about $60-80 each...
All the bolts would strip out and I'd regret it immediately(returning the car to stock) , dude that was my first thought lmao. Thanks for showing where the sensor was and revealing the big oring was the issue. I'm getting the p0011 and the p0016, well I havent got one or the other like once a week. I'm gonna change my oil even though I'm only at 800ish miles, I have been running e60 and driving it hard.
My 2015 same sensor was leaking. Oil dripped on hot exhaust pipe. These o-rings have tight tolerances so ask Subaru to order you OEM, they are $3.20. What’s happening that particular sensor gets most thermal heat from the pipes. My leak went away, buy a Subaru o ring.thanks for your past vid, you saved me some money.
Headers would be amaaazzziiiiing, but I can empathize with you on the headache it would bring. Looking forward to see if you figure out the oil color mystery. Maybe ethanol use?
Are you still running e blend? I have killer bee headers but i likely will need to go ewg setup once on e. Spring problems along with other issues arising are keeping me from it. O yea and the hefty tuning deposit
I cant hear the video well. But i have p0018 advanced timing position. Car is in limp mode and im burning oil front passenger side. Can anyone give me any guess on what it might be. Its my first turbo car
Hey man, was this leak spewing up to the oil filter? Or just dripping down? My oil is leaking onto the same place on the debris shield but it’s also kind of spewing everywhere lol
Hey bud!! I have the code p0018 bank 2 camshaft sensors. I’m about to change the bottom one tomorrow. Am I going to have to take my oil when I pull out the bottom sensor?
naw i dont think so. the oil sits in bottom of pan. you might loose a tiny bit, but not much. i cant rememeber where the lower one is. this was years ago.

nice one brother!
MARK, get some wheels and fall in love with the car all over again. Ditch the Header idea, save the pennies.
some day. never heard back last week when i reached out to Sparco in Japan.

Thanks for the video man, i need to change the sensor and couldn’t find it but thanks to your video i did.
right on Destro. and say hi to Cobra Commander
All 4 are cam position sensors, one on each side is for exhaust and intake
cool
Those things you pointed out are vvt solenoids not cam sensors
good tip
Thumbs up for TWSS

Thanks for the info!
I just got a check engine light and say the code p000a. Intake cam 1 (RH) Position Slow Response. Is this the same sensor you are showing?
well the cam sensors should be on the end of the cams, ya.
Hi! Were you able to get a gasket from Subaru? It appears they only sell the whole sensor for my Subaru’s engine (2008 Legacy GT)
i think mine was an o ring

Dang I almost want to say that when you installed the high performance radiator hoses you put a new o ring on the cam sensor does this sound right?
very possible.

only down. but it depends how bad the seal is.

I have same code on ny 2015 did replacing the sensor work
I dropped a few drips of oil near that ocv and now i cant tell if its starting to leak or its where i spilled oil. If it leaks will it throw a cel?
no, oil leaks do not cause CELs generally..
Do you know where the crank sensor is?
above the crank. see this pic www.subarupartsdeal.com/resources/encry/diagram/spd/2020/large/93d6695915cdd18b102b1ae780235d23/50dd99086e26cba7d2312fde217ec875.png
Is the sensor in the sane spot in a 17 sti chief?
i dont know much about the older STI engine master chief
I’m trying to change my damn crank position sensor, I can’t find the damn thing 😤😤
that blows brother
Mendez_Guzman did you ever find your crank sensor?

Nice.
indeed
Isnt that an oil control valve?
Hey their I can’t find the crankshaft position sensor on my car where exactly is it anyone ?
usually above the crank pulley
Thank you man I appreciate .
@@fredytorres8231 it is in the rear of the engine near the transmission

It's a Subaru.... If it didn't leak oil, you don't have any in it....
hey my GTI's were terrible at oil seeping too.
😂😂😂😂
