When I was 46, forever single, I adopted a 7 year old boy. 3 years later I adopted another 7 year old boy. 2 years later I adopted a 9 year old boy. My children the best thing I ever did. 24 years have passed. My boys are now adults. I'm single again. No regrets!
This is disgusting. Data indicates that in order for a child to grow up to be a functioning and healthy adult, they need BOTH a feminine mother and a masculine father, who also should be 100% mentally stable. Lack of either has almost always a dramatic negative effect on the child's personality and mental health. You've been selfish and naive, to think that you can and should parent children alone.
🤔 I used to feel like I had an internal clock that prompted the desire to become a biological parent. ⌛️ When I hit my mid-20’s, that all dissipated, however, I still felt a nurturing quality that needed to be shared. So I allowed those caregiving aspects to manifest through care and advocacy for pets and other animals, responsive and sage support for family and friends, a forbearing dedication to my vocation and most importantly, connecting to a deeper level of self-care by becoming a parent to my inner child, metaphorically speaking. And although the future can appear to be concerning on certain levels without immediate kin(mostly from the perspectives of others), overall, so far, so good!🙏🏻👍🏻😎
Very well said, Jaks. It would be nice if people would keep their opinions to themselves, unless asked, especially if they are negative. We need more people in the world like you!!! Keep up the great work. Staying positive and optimistic will always rule. I get so sick and tired of hearing/reading stories and then seeing comments that are so ignorant/stupid. Jim
"They have no right to tell other people what to think or what they should do." So people should be put in prison for disagreeing verbally with your lifestyle? Like I can't say "Hey its wrong to take your childhood trauma out on others, please heal and stop." I have no right to say that? 😂
Oh yes I do. Keep your negative thoughts to yourself. Nobody wants to hear it. Why do you feel compelled to criticize people in the first place? Do the work on yourself and leave others alon
Also you should totally have kids if you're willing to sacrifice for them and think you'd be a good parent. If you're on the fence, please read Bryan Caplan's "Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids."
It always surprises me when people offer their opinions on something like this unsolicited. I think as a friend the appropriate response might be just one of support. While I might not want children, I have no right to impose my beliefs on you. There seems to be a lot of that going around!
I was raised by two [lesbian] women (one was my biological mother) for much of my childhood. Please don't do it. Edit: if you do, be prepared for the child to resent you for that decision in its adulthood.
Another issue in the back of my mind, and I'm sure in the back of others', is just how shaky our rights have become given the current political climate. I do not want to put myself in a situation where I have kids only for the government to forcibly take them away, but unfortunately that is an increasing possibility in many part of the world that made strides in LGBT equality but now are backtracking.

This sounds like a nightmare

Nothing wrong with that goal...it's admirable!!
Jaks speaks the facts

Love you Jaks!!! I love your passion for people living their own lives, whether it's as parents or childless.
Admirable: Your thoughtful, articulate deliberations.
People will have opinions about anything and everything but they have no right to tell other people what to think and what they should do.

Everyone is different. Its okay to be your own family ❤
If you have the time energy and commitment to care for a child you are a real man!! ❤
Amen!
Further to my earlier comment, I would love to see and meet you on a beach in Mexico. When?

Our culture dies if there is no kids...Japanese prime minister said that Japan can be past if the birth rate don't get better

People need to be a little more human? Are you talking about Earthlings? You need to study the species a little more closely. Dave
